  1. What a price this is for such a quality amp! I'm amazed this is still here to be honest.. It's a bit of a cliche to say and I know it doesn't help the OP, but if I didn't already have an Ampeg V4BH, then I'd be very interested in this.. Anyway, GLWTS.
  2. Now SOLD - Thanks for your interest. Hi Folks For sale is my Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 amp (rackmount version), which comes with the mute/channel switching footswitch and a 4U rack case with rack draw, power cable and Speakon to Speakon cable. I bought this from Dvisions just before the New Year and have used it for just a handful of gigs in that time. Price is SOLD or near offer and considering these were almost £1700 new when they came out about 10 years ago,and this includes the footswitch and rack case, I think it's a pretty fair price. It's working perfectly and is a very powerful, high quality US built amp with a wide array of tonal options. IMO, the Big Block is capable of delivering volume in spades, with a powerful and easy to use e.q. section (especially the mids) and when needed, a more gritty and overdriven sound if you need it. The Big Block didn't have a footswitch when I bought it so I sourced a Mesa Boogie Lonestar footswitch that does the job of remotely changing channels between clean and overdriven, and also the mute function. It's really handy to have that functionality in a gigging situation... If I've attached the right photos, then you should be able to see the footswitch operating the mute function and the channel switching.. I've also used the photo that Dvisions used in his for sale ad, so i hope he won't mind me doing that.. There's loads of really helpful reviews and stuff on Google, YouTube, Talkbass etc about this amp but suffice to say, if you want to get more info on it, it's definitely out there! Here's a few interesting YouTube links: This is my favourite - this guy is awesome! And though Mesa get associated with Rock music, here's a more funky exponent bigging up Boogie gear : And yet another funky Big Block user: Only selling because I'm using my Ampeg amp & cabs more and our recent house purchase has strained the finances somewhat and will do for the foreseaable... So, because I need to raise funds at the moment I'm not looking for trades at this time, sorry. Viewings welcome if you're near Littlehampton, West Sussex (tea/coffee/biscuits provided). Happy to work something out about travelling if it's within a 50 mile radius.. I've posted large amps before (for an additional cost) and could be persuaded to do so again, but there's always a high risk with that which I'd prefer not to have to do if possible. Thanks for looking and if you need more info, please PM me. I do have a feedback thread too, so please check that out if you don't know me and want to check out my credentials on Basschat.. Cheers Nik
  3. Just bought a Peavey MiniMax head from Matthew in what was a perfect, hassle free transaction. He's a great guy to deal with and a credit to the Basschat community - just as he was when I started this thread for him 11 years ago! OMG - where does the time go.. ? Buying/selling bass gear is the answer I'm guessing... 😁 Thanks Matthew. Nik
  4. Lovely! ☺ GLWTS
  5. Hi Folks Just bought a lovely Roscoe Beck V from Roger, a.k.a. diggerz54, and wanted to leave some feedback for him here to say what an excellent transaction it's been. Roger was a pleasure to deal with from start to finish, the bass in question is absolutely superb and what's more, his packaging is absolutely unbelievable; MBE if not CBE level ! 😁 Not only that, chatting with Roger about the bass, basses and music in general was great - he really knows his stuff! Anyway, as I couldn't find a previous feedback thread for Roger on here, I'm very happy to create this new one for him and to highly recommend him to one and all on Basschat! Many thanks again Roger... ☺ Nik
  6. Gorgeous looking bass! GLWTS
  7. Completely off topic, but I love your avatar pic, which is from the original Star Trek series if I'm not mistaken... Always reminded me of my old physics teacher, Mr Smillie; a differently handsome chap who never got any stick from a classroom full of sniggering 14 year old students! We were a thoroughly horrible lot back in the day... Anyway, back on topic, nice bass and GLWTS. ☺
  8. Friday morning BUMP ! ☺ Just moved house and need the space, so keen to see it find a new home ASAP...
  9. This is an absolute steal for this rig! Hard to believe it's still here... GLWTS
  10. Sorry to hear that John.. I've had the same thing happen to me so I understand your reluctance. Having said that, it's only happened twice in over 12 years of using couriers and on both occasions, I was able to get properly refunded. It was though, as you say, a butt ache!
  11. Thought so... ☺ Tell you what though, John, I know you're a fan already, but these are still great amps, even though they're pretty 'old skool' pieces of kit in comparison these days. I was using it the other day, just testing it out really after it had been checked over by my tech, and with 2 x Ampeg 210s, it sounded really good, lovely full, rich tone and plenty of power! I had a drum machine running through the bendable FX loop - which is such a useful feature - and with the footswitch, I could switch between 3 different e.q. settings so easily whilst practicing.. Anyway, that's enough of me singing this amp's praises - I'm moving house in less than 36 hours and there's still more packing to be done! Nik
  12. I'm assuming your definition of 'civilised' means 'near me', John? 😁
  13. Yep! Always liked the look of these.. GLWTS
  14. Hi Brian It's 600 watts at 4 ohms and 750 watts at 2 ohms.. I've used it with 2 x 4 ohm cabs before and it sounds great, and no issues at all running at 2 ohms. If there's anything else you'd like to know, please ask.. Cheers Nik
  15. Very nice looking & great sounding bass... And the photos and videos clips are really good! GLWTS
  16. I'm having to quote myself on this, as I still can't believe this hasn't found a new home!
  17. Actually, I think that was true in reverse a couple of years ago when you were selling quite a bit of gear. As for being at the edge of civilisation, there's many a West Sussex local who'd want to take issue with you on that... But having lived in London myself for 30 years, I think I'm inclined to agree with you.. 😉 😀
  18. Now SOLD - thanks for looking ☺ Hi Folks Continuing my recent gear clear-out, here for sale is my Hughes and Kettner Bassbase 600 bass amp, which comes with the all-important Footswitch and a 3U Stagg rack case to transport it around in. It's in excellent working condition having just been serviced . Now SOLD Apart from my Ampeg V4BH and Mesa Boogie Big Block 750, this amp has outperformed every other amp I've had over the last 12 years, including Eden, Markbass, TE, TechAmp amps and even the much praised Thunderfunk 550. It's also the most well made amp I've had too. If I wasn't moving house soon and didn't need the space, I'd probably keep this. I bought this here on Basschat from dougal back in 2010 I believe, and have used it consistently ever since, and it's done over 250 gigs in that time and never let me down. It's only ever given me great tone, a lot of power and plenty of headroom! The other great thing about this amp, is that it covers just about everything that you need, having two separate EQ channels, a tube pre-amp which really does add some grind to your tone if you want it, blendable FX channel, notch filter, bi-amp facility, DI and tuner out, separate headphone volume control and a mute switch - it really is quite brilliant! The tube in it is the original Hughes & Kettner supplied 12AX7. I've attached some photos to show all of the features, but if you need any more, please PM me... Links See here for more info: And here's a link for the manual: http://oldies.hughes-and-kettner.com/BassBase_600/BassBase600.pdf Footswitch When I bought the amp, it didn't have what they call the Bassbase stageboard for switching between EQ channels, activating FX loop etc, so I bought another almost identical Hughes & Kettner footswitch, and had it modified to work with this amp and it's great because it gives you even more versatility. This cost me about £45 to do in total, being £15 for the switch on Ebay and £30 to get it modified by my local tech. Technical info Power - 650 Watts @ 4 Ohms 1010 Watts @ 2 Ohms Poweramp - Dynaclip Preamp - TubeTouch Effects Loop - serial Switching Functions - EQ on/off, A, B Notch Filter - Yes Headphones - Yes Equalizer - 2-Band Varimetric A/B + Hi/Lo Bands Tubes - 1x 12AX7 Speaker Outputs - 4-8 Ohms Speakon, 1x XLR parallel Dimensions - 19" Weight - 18,5 kg/41 lbs Trades, shipping etc Just to clarify that I'm not looking for any trades on this thanks. Viewings welcome if you'd like to hear it first and I'm happy to ship it at your expense if you are nowhere near the uber-civilised south coast..😁 Any questions, please ask here or PM me.. Thanks for looking! Nik
  19. Withdrawn - it's too good to sell at this price (or even a higher price maybe) !
