Hello Basschatters,
A guitarist friend of mine has started working with a solo artist by the name of Dan Knight in the Northampton / Peterborough area, and they're looking for a bassist to join them.
As I understand it, the plan is to do some live gigs to support the promotion of Dan's recordings which are already available on Spotify.
If you'd like to find out more, here's a link to a recent Facebook post by Dan:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/peterboroughmusiciansuk/permalink/6763742593689699/
Which basically says this :
"Hey everyone
So I put a post out a few weeks ago looking to put together a band for my original music my next show is September 23rd
So we’re just in need of a bassist for now so if you’d like to be a part of the project please respond here or get in touch via DM’s 😁
Look forward to hearing from you all. "
And here's the link to Dan's Spotify:
PM me if you'd like me to put you in touch directly with the guitarist.
Thanks for looking...
Cheers

Hi Folks,
Had the pleasure of meeting Julian, aka @Soulmanyesterday to hand over my Ashdown CTM100 amp to him in exchange for a few shekels.
Typical Basschat deal - we met in a pub car park just outside Shrewsbury (as I'm staying nearby for a few days)...
It would have looked a bit dodgy if we hadn't had our two better halves with us to provide a sheen of respectability to the proceedings.. 😁
So, what can I say that hasn't been said about Julian already...
He's a great guy to deal with, excellent comms, and has been a long-standing contributor to the Basschat community.
Suffice to say, deal with Julian in absolute confidence, Folks. 👍
It was really good to meet you finally, Julian, and I hope you enjoy the amp!
Here's to the next time.. 😊

I'm very pleased to announce that this year (so far!) our first special guest, who after a brief stint as a graphic designer, decided to pursue a career in music which took off when he was asked to join (the then massive in Australia) Icehouse for a world tour at the tender age of 19. In 1983 he supported David Bowie on his legendary ‘Serious Moonlight’ tour.
This led to him being spotted and used by the likes of Robert Palmer, Bryan Ferry, Womack & Womack, and even The Smiths amongst others. He was thrust into the global premier league of bassists when David Gilmour asked him to play for Pink Floyd.
Yes - Mr Guy Pratt! 😎
That's absolutely amazing @Hamster!
So, so brilliant to have 'Mr Guy Pratt' confirmed as a special guest for this year's South East Bass Bash!
Amazing musician, great writer and a fantastic raconteur...
He's worked with some of my favourite artists ever...
This is going to be good! 😎

Hi there Ian,

Don't suppose these strings are still available are they? If so, I'd be happy to take them off you..

2. 1994 Washburn XB500 (twin single coils)
3. A Washburn XB925 in zebrawood (twin Bartolinis)
4 Washburn XB925 in bits.... (twin Bartolinis)
5. Boulder Creek 5 string (likely to be for sale)
6. SWR Workingmans 12 with the stepped front.
Hmmm... I will need a bigger car!
@Hamster - are we allowed to bring stuff to sell?

I've been lucky enough to have had the chance to use this amp a couple of times and it really is good!
With it's semi-parametric eq, it's similar in some ways to both the really good SWR and Eden amps of the 1990s, as well as being a forerunner of the Thunderfunk amps.
But it definitely has its own distinct character... My memory of it is that its very loud, punchy, and detailed sounding. It will reproduce the inherent character of your bass really faithfully, but give you lots of scope to shape your tone..
Whoever buys this won't be disappointed - as well as giving you a great sound, it's also uber-rare and very cool looking IMHO.
GLWTS Mike 👍

Excellent.
That's exactly what happens, and, have a twang on everyone else's kit too.
It's a tenner (that may have changed, someone will comment if so) that goes to cover the hire of the hall and any surplus, I believe, goes to charity.
That is compulsory*
*not really
Spot on @Frank Blank!
Hope you can make it along @GlamBass74- its always a great day...

Wow - what an absolute bargain this rig is..
The world has changed a lot over the last few years; pre-covid something as good as this, at this price, on this forum, would have sold within hours!
Who would have thought....
Anyway, have a free BUMP for a great rig and GLWTS!

Early August, Thursday morning BUMP...
100 watts of amazing sounding, Ashdown valvey goodness - yours for £500, or near offer!

Wow - I can't believe this is up for sale @jhk!
Such a powerful and brilliant sounding amp. Amazing eq, bi-amp facility, compressor... As warm and punchy as anything, and so solidly made too.
I've lost count of the number of times I heard this in action at one of the South East Bass Bashes, paired with your Yamaha 6 string.. What a sound combination that was!
Anyway, I hope you're keeping well Jon, and GLWTS! 😊

Four gigs in four days. All weddings and a ton of driving involved.
Weds - (Kent) really uneventful and reserved with most people thinking about work the following day.
Thurs - (Manchester) Friendly and enthusiastic crowd. LGBTW wedding with a really cool vibe. Had a lot of fun.
Fri - (Stratford On Avon) Bride was lovely, Groom was a grade a **** who was far more interested in getting hammered with his football mates and being as obnoxious as possible. Completely ignored his new wife all night and at the end of the night had to be carried out of the venue.
Sat - (Cambridgeshire) everything that's good about being in a wedding band. Lovely couple, great food (proper wedding cake), big enthusiastic crowd and a friendly venue. Also got to meet basschatter @silverfoxnik on the way up who has been an absolute legend and is helping me get a few (rather heavy) bits to another basschatter this week.
Time to reintroduce myself to my wife and kids today and cook some nice food and enjoy some family time.
A pleasure to meet you too @mrtcat!
Sounds like you've had a really busy 4 days, so I hope you enjoy your r&r time with your family...
I always found wedding gigs to be the weirdest of the lot when I used to do them as part of a busy functions band.. Always seemed to go from one extreme to another, with not much in between! 😁
