9.
Sandberg PM5. There are also some sound clips at DWband.co.uk. Not the best as its DI (from a GK head post eq) taken from the desk. Also the mid and top are boosted quite a bit to cut through the wall of guitar, keys and brass in that band - still it will give you an idea. John
Nice sound and really nice playing btw!!
 10. Hi Folks, As the title suggests, what a great way to spend the afternoon! Last Saturday, WalMan, jhk, johnnylager & myself held a mini-bash, arranged on the basis that, as johnnylager had just bought GreeneKing's ultimate Pimp Bass (the lovely white Spector 5), we all wanted to see & hear it in action!! Actually, I think it was more about the fact that it had been ages since the last SE Bass Bash and we were all getting a bit bored! Anyway, whatever the reason, it was a great excuse to get the toys out and make a noise! Here's a few photos: Mr Lager's most excellent Pimp Bass & rig.. jhk's tiny Eden rig! (not for the faint-hearted) WalMan's suprisingly powerful Markbass/Epifani rig & basses.. Silverfoxnik's basses, Eden rig (plus old Peavey MK IV head + SWR Triad + jhk's poweramp experiment ) There's some more photos to come which I'll put up later, plus hopefully (if I can work it out), some video footage too.. Cheers Nik
 11.
Chris, have you ever considered opening a musical equipment business of some kind?

Mmmmm .... Clackett Lane. Very tempting. Chris, have you ever considered opening a musical equipment business of some kind?
+1 Still very tempting.. Clackett Lane has never been the same since it became one of Basschat's outreach trading posts!
 12. Hi Chris, Hope all's well with you? GAS keeps getting the better of me and I keep looking at that Mesa cab you're selling, trying to find ways to justify having one... Sadly, I do too many small pub gigs for something so OTT, but it would be great fun! For someone who's gigging a lot and has transport and roadies though, surely it must be the ultimate full-range cab? Good luck with it! Nik
 13. This is a bargain to be honest.. Al brought it along to our south coast mini-Bash last week and it was really nice! Good fretless sound, comfortable to play and sounded very 'Pino' through the Boss analog FX unit that was there. Excellent way to give fretless a try I would say..
 14.
The minute I sold this bass I regreted it. As I am sure silverfoxnik will confirm, it really is a beaut of a bass. Shame I dont have the funds to reacquire it.
+1 My sentiments exactly...
 15. Nice playing..great sound too!!
 16. Good question..it was originally posted in 2008!
 17. I have two Fender Roscoe Beck V strings; both teal green and both acquired courtesy of Happy Jack. Must take a picture of them at our mini-bash tomorrow..
 18.
Yummy
+1 Not good for my GAS, but lovely nonetheless..
 19.
I hate Jazz basses - don't know if its cos people rave about them all the time and I want to be different but I really don;t like them for some reason, really don't I've just bought a Squier VM Jazz Bass
Classic!
 20. My favourite is: "..reluctantly, I'm selling my beloved XXXXX Bass.." I always think 'if you love it so much, why are you selling it then!' Mind you, I've probably said the same thing myself...
 21.
Shakin Stevens the word genius is so over used...theres immense talent and then there is genius...
Just testing, right?
Of course all the usual suspects. But for me, Leornard Bernstein - West side story score was genius. And his amazing conducting on a lot of the Classical stuff. A link here for studio out takes of West side story. And Musician skills of the highest quality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gf_pBHMcyHQ Garry
+1 for Bernstein, though in the documentary of the remake of West Side Story about 20 years ago, Bernstein himself addressed the question of musical genius and in his opinion, Motzart was up there alone in that category! I also think that it's dependent on the genre or era of music and the skill or talent you're choosing to assess.. So for example, in classical music we might talk of Mozart, Bach, Stravinsky etc but in terms of songwriting we might consider Cole Porter (another favourite of mine), Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Dylan Lennon etc.. As for performers, then what about Elvis, Sinatra, Callas, Prince and so on.. Can't think of many bass (guitar) players that I would consider as being genius to be honest; maybe Jamerson and Entwhistle perhaps in the 60s? I don't really consider musical dexterity to be the same thing as musical genius though, so a lot of the noodlers and widdlers tend to leave me cold.. Good thread though!
 22. Beautiful bass Peter! Nice to see you on here btw... Hope all's well with you & good luck with the sale!
 23.
So only slightly less than Bass Shiva this time.
That's dedication for you!
