My only difficulty with the TF (to me) is the fact that the pickup selection is by a switch, no chance for any kind of blending. I have found slightly backing off either pick up gives some nice tones and the TF probably wouldn't allow for that subtlety.

Current rig. 1966 P-pass into Behringer rack tuner, Mesa M-Pulse 600 and a pair of Mesa Subway 1x15 cabs.

I would drop all other suggestions and immediately buy the stupidly cheap M-Pulse 600 in the classifieds. Ticks every box and is simply outstanding. No connection to the seller, I should add.

Sold a bass to estpany, for shipment to Greece. Excellent communication from him and payment made exactly when stated (by Paypal). He has kept me posted on progress when the bass was dispatched and let me know that it had arrived and that he was happy with it. A great guy to deal with and this couldn't have been easier. Steve

In 1988 I bought a Bass 400 and 2 x Diesel 2x15 merely because a mag called it the Rolls Royce of bass amplification. It came to 3 grand with flightcases. There sure are some suckers out there. That said, even though the components of the rig have changed, the sound hasn't and it still makes me smile when I hear it.

Not sure gatecrashing functions will go down well either!

Not sure I can offer anything specific apart from the usual 'put yourself about' although most of that tends to be blues-based jams. Whereabouts are you more exactly? I may know of a few such jams that would get you out among other players. Not always the type of band you are after but you never know.

I know the feeling. I desperately want a Stingray fretless but am looking for something rather less impressive. Part of the reason for that is that I have had a Stingray before (a 1978 one) but found that the string tension at the pick up (I am a dyed-in-the-wool Precision player) where I pluck the string is so different to a Precision that I just couldn't get used to it. But they make that sound!!!

I can tell you that a 335 sounds awesome through a Boogie Bass 400 and Diesel 2x15. I mean, literally awesome!

They look very interesting I have to say. Not sure how a multi-speaker cab is going to be particularly lightweight but the head does look very good - in theory.

Somewhat surprised you are having issues within a few days of a service! Watford Valves website has some excellent valve reviews (based on their own testing) and I ended up with Svetlana Winged C 6550's in my trusty Bass 400.

I have subsequently bought a Subway pre/DI and am very happy with it. I haven't used it as any part of my backline but it was excellent going into the pa when I did a gig that didn't require any specific backline.
