  3. This. This means your reputation is on the line and you don't want that trashed. If you're not completely comfortable that the band can deliver, then pull the plug.
  4. I have played with singers, as well as guitarists, who will deviate from the expected arrangement. In the latter case, I always think of Rory Gallagher. If you watch videos of him and his band, you can see the visual (or aural) cues he gives the band. I can do 'on the fly' pretty easily but that's not the point, to me. The bit that would have me quitting is the temper. My gig would be ruined by the expectation of trouble and I can't be dealing with that. Whether that's people complaining about his volume or any other issue that might crop up at a gig. Someone that wound up is someone I'd be avoiding. How good or great they were (as a guitarist) is irrelevant here.
  5. Probably stupid but can't you put something on top of it and flatten it back out?

  7. Wow. Only paid £575 for mine. Of course that was in 1986! That said, the E string was pretty much dead (even after changing strings). I bought Japanese Fenders to take out on the road - theft is an ever-present threat, no matter how careful you are. I tend to use the 'old ones' for recording more than live work. They do get the odd trip out, though.
  8. They weren't in the 'Spoons at Wrexham the other evening were they? Ceiling came down and two people tried to make a claim but CCTV clearly shows no injuries.
  9. My thoughts exactly. If the guy that can use anything uses them, then that'll do for me.
  10. Sorry. I wasn't clear. This was Evidence against other makes, as opposed to frozen and not.
  11. I haven't. I figure I'll stop playing when I'm dead (I wasn't aware of that development but I'll leave things as they are). I am well aware that many think it's snake oil but Even I heard a clear difference when a/b'ing against other cables.
  12. Sorry, I was addressing the OP.
  13. Where is your amp in relation to the drummer? I set up slightly back from the drummer and slightly angled towards him. That works for us perfectly well.
  14. Remember Graham from Arms and Legs, the band from which the Joe Jackson band was born. They were a Pompey band.
  15. All my guitar/speaker cables are Evidence Audio now. If they're what David Gilmour uses then I'm taking that as a recommendation. Quite an investment, mind.
  16. I think that one needs a pint of Guinness. 🙂 Joshing, of course.
  17. Be Bop Deluxe? What a fine band they were! Were they part of Andy Clark's rig?
  18. Good luck. I have no doubt it'll go well.
  19. That last sentence sums it up for me. Potential band members are auditioning the band and its members too. I wouldn't want to be in a band with someone who seems to be just that - a member.
  20. Maybe we should be called tHE gRAMMAR pOLICE
  21. "Some Pedants" surely. The Pedants suggests they are all the pedants, and they can't be. I'm one, for a start.
  22. I do. Stunning place. Bought some nice ex-Entwistle basses in there.
  23. Along similar lines, the Manics were putting aside Rickey Edwards 'cut' for a long time after his disappearance. May still do, as far as I know. I believe Queen eventually did the same. I do know that Roger Taylor got the same royalty for I'm In Love With My Car as FM got for Rhapsody as they were both on the same (single) disc.
  24. That should be Mr Clayton to them!!
