  1. When did the Bells catalogue first appear? Far more onanism inducing than any Health & Efficiency!!
  2. I should be so lucky! I'll get me coat.
  3. What do you call a banjo at the bottom of the sea ................. a start!!
  4. As I have said in another ad, I have a couple of new basses incoming and I am finally giving up on maple fingerboards. This is a 2011 MIM Classic 50's Precision in 2 tone sunburst. It weighs a very respectable 9 lb exactly on the scales. It's in excellent condition and is a really good instrument. I would prefer to hand over in person (the bass is in Portsmouth) but I am also happy to drive a reasonable distance if that helps. That way, you get to try it and I don't have to argue with any courier customer service operative. Bump for price drop. Please note it comes in an excellent SKB fitted case (currently over £100 at Thomann).
  5. Two reasons for this sale. I have got two custom made basses incoming and, despite trying, I just don't really get on with maple boards. This is a 2004 CIJ 57 reissue in a gorgeous candy apple red. It's 8lbs 12oz on the scales so a very nice comfortable weight. Build quality is the usual Japanese high standard and it has plenty of punch. Stunning looking bass in the flesh and it has been upgraded with a wiring loom from KiOgon. Much prefer to hand over in person and would be prepared to travel a bit to do that (I have driven over 2 hours in the past) and also has the advantage of try before you buy and no couriers!! Price drop to £550. It comes in an excellent SKB fitted case.
  6. Note the smiley in my post. It is very admirable and very much in the spirit of what I try to think of this forum. So, all of you folk PM'ing, take a look at mine and make an offer!!
  7. I guess my '75 will be with me for a while longer. 🙂 Amazing price.
  8. There will be a 2TSB and maple but it'll be my Classic 50's from Mexico. There will be two 3TSB with tort plates added, a candle apple red 57 with maple along with the 75 fretless already in the For Sale. Anyway, ads need to be prepared so I will aim to do it at the weekend.
  9. That he is. Also guitar tech for Robben Ford and Pete Townsend. A lovely guy and real cratfsman. Thanks. I believe it will prove to be so.
  10. Well. I have been an avid Fender user for the last 50 odd years. Ok, I'm not deserting the design but I am getting a pair of basses built by the brilliant Simon Law at SVL guitars. That means a batch of Japanese Precisions will be hitting the For Sale section soon. Wonderful basses and I will always sing their praises as being exceptional instruments but a pair of mocha basses based on my terrific 66 P'bass is too good to miss. Simon is principally a guitar builder but I am super excited at the prospect of a pair of SVL basses. His work is stunning in quality. http://www.svlguitars.com/index.html Pictures will follow (eventually).
  11. No mention yet of James Dewar. He sang for Robin Trower for many years. Wonderful voice and, sadly, no longer with us.
  12. Thank you all for your comments. Some good information and all being filed away!
  13. Thanks both. Yes, I was intending to buy according to audience girth!!
  14. Having seen the propensity for people to buy band t-shirts, even at quite humble venues, my band is thinking of offering such quality merchandise itself. Does anyone have any recommendations for suppliers? We are looking at a logo on a plain black t-shirt.
  15. Yes. I was a fan back in the day and agree about Danny Kustow, a very fine guitar player. TR seems to be a very genuine and pleasant bloke although I have to disagree with his taste in Cortinas, my 1600E was aubergine.
  16. Did we overrun? Very sorry about that. I always have a kitchen clock that is positioned at th singers fet so time can be measured but it wasn't present at SOL. Barry was in a lot of discomfort and was still in a state when I put him on the plane on Tuesday morning. He did well to play at all. You might have seen we had to even put his guitar on for him!
  17. Thank you chaps! The van is repaired (2nd hand engine - £950 + £890 labour) and it's just done a 2 week UK tour without a hiccup so all good. I am tempted to withdraw the bass but I have sort of mentally said good-bye to it. I am looking to get an SVL bass made so this can still go.
  18. Great.
  19. You could get a Tutmarc for your year.
  20. I keep thinking about this. My late dad was a saxophonist and inherited his wonderful 1937 Selmer Balanced Action tenor. It seems such a shame that it isn't being played.
  21. Don't post a picture or you'll bring John Hall down on us!!
  22. Well Phil May did sing in the Diesel Band with John Coughlan!! I know that's not what you meant!!
  23. I was touring with the Pretty Things at the time Bill Wyman left and we teased Richard Taylor about asking for his old job back. I used the common shortened term of his name but it seems that it is not permitted. We weren't so formal in the band!!!
  24. Don't part with the '73. It's the better bass and is appreciating. The road worn will never be worth anything like that. Not always a factor but worth bearing in mind.
