  1. One of the BC collective was in a Wishbone Ash tribute, AshboneUwish. As they were friends of mine, I saw them a few times and they were always better than the contemporary version/s of the actual band.
  2. One Night in Paris - 10CC
  3. Road to Nowhere - Talking Heads
  4. Taking it to the Streets - Doobie Brothers
  5. Very true. How many folk have gone to a music store to try out something particular, only to then buy it elsewhere because it was cheaper?
  6. Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf
  7. The Loin Sleeps Tonight - Tight Fit
  8. Knucklebones - Dave Lee Roth
  9. I Ham The One And Only - Chesney Hawkes
  10. ‘52 Vincent Black Lightning - Richard Thompson
  11. Sweets for my Sweet - C J Lewis
  12. Punch & Judy - Marillion
  13. Even with the shipping and taxes, the newer one is still one of the cheapest, ‘name brand’, short scale, P basses available. If the nut width was wider, I’d be having a long hard think about a black one.
  14. Village Green Preservation Society - The Kinks
  15. Probably a good decision. Having to learn all the material, combined with rehearsals, when your heart isn’t completely in it, would probably just piss you off and lead to you jacking it in. Being of a similar vintage, one’s time is better spent doing things that bring you joy.
  16. Enter Sandman - Metallica
  17. Centrefold - J Geils Band
  18. AB sounds pretty good on everything he does. My band have decided to do Watching the Detectives, which Andrew played on. The Rumour were a great backing band.
  19. It’s a classic combination
  20. With the seating looking very pew like, I would have been hard pushed not to say, “Dearly beloved, let us play,” in that environment. Nice venue.
  21. Fantastic basses, I own one myself, superior to the MIM ones I tried in the run up to my purchase, both in playability and tone, IMO. GLWTS
  22. Good question. I’ll just address the music side, as no one has ever wanted to see me indulge in sporting activities, let alone pay to do so. I think it depends on how you view it. Are you playing gigs to provide a service or just to have fun? If you can have fun, whilst providing a service doesn’t negate it being a service. I used to enjoy and have fun in my day jobs, but I definitely wanted paying. So I think it comes down to would you do it anyway if there was no renumeration involved? In my current band, the answer is no (charity gigs notwithstanding), as I’m not playing the music I would normally choose to, I don’t mind it, but it’s not my chosen genre. If my band was, for want of a better word, a vanity project, I might play for free, certainly expenses. The problem lies when those who are happy to play for free take work away from those who provide a service and want paying.
