  1. Oh FFS I’m having a weird day.
  2. Slave to the Grind - Skid Row
  3. Thanks, fixed at source.
  4. It’s computer driven scalping, plain and simple. When people have been hanging online, only to be kicked out due to supposed IT issues, to get back online and find the price massively escalated, is profiteering, plain and simple. Just because it’s legal doesn’t make it moral.
  5. I use a compressor and then a Tech21 VTDI. Comp takes care of the different attack (in addition to helping the bass sit in the mix better), VTDI adds grit for fingers or pick as required. YMMV.
  6. I think July & August are bad months for selling anything, folk are on holiday or still suffering the financial backlash of being on holiday. September is often a reset, with all the schools back and folk feeling that summer is over (which from a meteorological standpoint and definition, it is).
  7. Another month and I’m still in! Something is wrong
  8. Or Paul and Dave as they probably were back then.
  9. After a couple of gigs with a dep drummer that were just OK, we were back to full strength for a gig at a local football supporters club, a mere 20 minute drive for me; woo hoo! Ah, didn't sell enough tickets - cancelled. No matter, a pub just a bit further down the road asked if we were available as they'd had a cancellation - excellent! Oh, not so much, by the time we'd said we could do it (and we replied very quickly) they'd already filled the slot . However, all was not lost, a band had double booked themselves for a 60th birthday party at The British Legion in Carnoustie (it appears the guy has a reputation for this) and we were suggested as a replacement. Top gig, nice stage, great sound, lovely punters, who were dancing from the get go and no one commented on the volume (we're not loud, at all), but plenty of compliments. More like that one please. Only downside was that the load in was down a long alley, without vehicular access and my Octave pedal switch decided to be flaky (seems fine now). My JMJ Mustang was the weapon of choice throughout and sounded great, the P didn't even come out of its gig bag. Next Saturday - Stirling Corn Exchange and what looks like another inconvenient load in.
  10. How about the screw on the large gear attached to the post itself? It might be worth removing the whole assembly to check for any binding in the ferrule too.
  11. Ooh, that's a bit contentious, A Smith is better and more accurate. By the same measure, the Gallagher boys should be going out as Not Quite 'Sis.
  12. Question - Moody Blues

    I’m cogitating twerps.
  14. Make sure you never play it with a drummer who counts it correctly but then speeds up by 40bpm in the first 2 bars. Been there, stopped playing, couldn’t play that fast.
  15. A number of bands at the St Anne's on the Sea Music Festival on Monday, which was completely free (kudos to Fylde Council). A couple of chums were in some of the bands, including 'Christine McVie' from Fleetwood Bac.
  16. Haven’t played the Vintera, but I’d describe the neck as a cross between a J and a P. The pickup on the JMJ is very good, sounds just like my old ‘63 P.
  17. I came very close to buying on of these on import, but by the time I’d hemmed and hawed, they sold it.

Whenever I see him being interviewed, he just seems like a nice, normal guy, who just happens to be a Hollywood star.
  19. Aga-do - Black Lace
  20. Or Mrs X apparently. And nor should anyone, farting is completely natural… …and always funny.
  21. And doing a fine job of it too.
  22. Every time I feel that I should be using another of my basses, I’ll play it home and think, “Why am I not using this?” Then, I’ll either take it to a gig or a rehearsal, alongside my JMJ and every time, the JMJ just shines above whatever goes up against it (custom built J type by Maruszczyk, Squier 40th anniversary P). It may be down to the genre my band plays (mod, ska, northern soul), but I suspect it’s just because it’s awesome.
  23. ‘Allo John, Gotta New Motor - Alexie Sayle
  24. So many relics these days seem to be, have rotary sander, will relic.
