  1. FWIW I used a different bass for rehearsal last night, in place of my usual Mustang, it sounded glorious and felt easier to play, despite being 3” longer in scale, it’s certainly quite a bit lighter. I also took the ‘Stang and swapped briefly for comparison, but went straight back to the Maruszczyk. It sounded somewhere between a P and a Ric, which pushes all my buttons currently. Long story short, no GAS for a new bass in the near future for me (he said, tempting the GAS genie to cast a spell).
  2. I feel the gloves are off regarding encouragement and luring others into gear acquisition is now standard operating procedure.
  3. I don’t know what you mean
  4. At last I understand why Duck Dunn was so awesome, check that right hand .
  5. The strings are never straight either, the easiest thing to do, you would have thought.
  6. I have to agree, it's just nasty. Yup, all kinds of wrong.
  7. FFS! They're 'aving a larf!
  8. Pull yourselves together . I can't say whether any of this is accurate, or even helpful, but Nate is a bit good and I'd trust him over a drummer when it comes to bass lines -
  9. Oh yeah, we ‘kin freezing too, keyboard player was really suffering. 🥶
  10. Me neither, just too dense, it’s seems to be Nick Raskulinecz‘s MO. I’d love to hear a remix by someone else.
  11. I looked at trying out fitting one of my extenders from an EB (lightweight Hipshot) in my NS WAV4 to see if it would go down to D, when I realised that, even if a standard length post would fit, the extender would have to be a “left handed” one (or at least one that fits the lower side of an EB headstock. So I can’t try that.
  12. Rehearsal for a gig in 2 weeks. Took my Maruszczyk custom Elwood L and just used the neck pickup (I normally use a Mustang or P bass in this band), added a bit of drive from the VTDI and it roared like a cross between a Ric and a P - glorious!
  13. I have had quite a few PMs in the last few days but only a couple had email notifications.
  14. Join Together - The Who
  15. Take one out, measure it and go to the Hipshot website, their fitting instructions often have a dimensions schematic. Conversely, drop them an email, I’ve found them to be super helpful in the past.
  16. I Am The One And Only - Chesney Hawkes
  17. I Don’t Remember - Peter Gabriel
  18. Massively overlooked.
  19. With stairs no less! One of the venues we play has a decent stage, but no stairs and it’s the kind of height that requires a fair bit of effort to get up on (without rolling onto it and standing from there ). However, could the drummer have made this any more awkward to get on the stage?
  20. A desert island track for me and the first time I became aware of them.
  21. This is very true and I think that there is an era of Rush for everyone, but not necessarily all of them. For me, 80-93 (Permanent Waves - Counterparts) is where it’s at, although I’m not mad keen on Signals. There are tracks from the early day and more recently that I like, but not really whole albums (a lot of that has to do with the production though). Discovering Rush is such a lot of fun, as there is so much to investigate. 3 outstanding musicians incredibly managing to more than the sum of their parts.
  22. The truth, right there.
