  1. Liking that and Serek as a whole (although they’re eye wateringly expensive). That one has a Grabber meets Ric thing going on.
  2. So, to conclude, plywood is fine. In fact, make solid bodies, or even semi acoustics out of whatever you like, just make it well and use decent pickups/hardware.

  8. I’d have been all over a Wilcock Mullarkey if my budget could have stretched. The one I tried at The Gallery was great.
  9. If you think that sounds stupid, how about hemidemisemiquaver?
  10. King of Pain - The Police
  11. @joseb84 The SR range would be your go to, I think. The SR370 falls under your budget and the SR500 just over. A secondhand SR from further up the range would be even better and secondhand prices are usually exceptional value for money.
  12. Before pulling the trigger on a JMJ Mustang, I checked out many videos (I have played them in the flesh too). A couple I listened to recently had the demonstrators putting it through various effects. I couldn’t believe how well they tracked with analog, octave pedals, even right down at the nut end, no indecisive warble at all. Intrigued as to why this was possible, I did a bit more digging. It seems that SS basses produce more fundamental and less harmonic overtones than a long scale, which I assume is what octave fx and the like pick up when they don’t track correctly. Now I’m waiting patiently for my JMJ to arrive (no, that’s a lie, I’m chomping at the bit). Now thse aren’t the videos I was talking about, but I can’t stop listening to this guy.

  20. This build already looks fantastic. I want it!
  21. Post it on the FB page too perhaps? With the post B word shenanigans, this may prove a tough one to resolve.
  22. I’ve just been reading and watching Scott Whitley waxing lyrical about GHS Super Steels. I was always a D’Addario EXL nickel guy, but the last few years I’ve been using EB Cobalt flatwounds pretty much exclusively (LaBella nylons on my Rob Allen). I was put off of SS strings due to the roughness I experienced once or twice (I don’t recall the make/s). Maybe time for a revisit.
  23. The Sun Always Shines On TV - Aha
  24. That long fill lick, just before he gets onto ‘the sound’ @13:20ish, is pure Geddy from Spirit of Radio. It’s all about the pocket & phrasing. Thanks for posting this.
