Epsom used to be my local store. When I was buying my 4003s, the truss rods needed adjusting and the tech did it with speed, ease and accuracy so I could have a better demo experience. This turns out to have been no mean feat, I tried adjusting the neck some months later, having bought it and made an initial pig’s ear of it. I also had an Epiphone Casino, with Bigsby, totally set up, including fret levelling, by Epsom. When I picked it up it was a different playing guitar, real quality. I can only hope that my new ‘locals’ are as good (I can’t think why they wouldn’t be).

I didn’t stay much longer as it seemed hugely disorganised and somewhat annoying. I did wonder if it had been posted with tongue firmly in cheek.

Guitar sales are at an all time high as I understand it, I can’t imagine bass would be wildly different. The time to sell is when you want to sell, unless you’re trying to move something that is affected by specific market forces: fashion, death of a bass celebrity, etc and you’re trying to hedge your bets.

My JMJ Mustang was delivered from GAK in an unopened box, all the way from San Bernardino, CA. They had plainly taken delivery into their warehouse and shipped straight from there. However, it was absolutely playable and even though the intonation was further away from accurate than I would normally expect, I could’ve gone out and gigged with it and it was only a few more £s than the SadEx (copywrite Ezbass, 2021). I suspect that most of our major retailers have or had furloughed their shop staff and are/were running basically a warehouse operation.
