Thanks it doesn't get a lot of use these days as the Tele much better fits a Country sound. I don't think I'll ever part with it though. I toyed with a 360/12 when I got it: always been a big Byrds fan. AC30 sounds like the perfect partner for it. Still tempted by a 4001

Yes, I was thinking particularly about the hype that Screamadelica attracted. Great album but not remotely the work of genius it's often portrayed as imho.

As much as I like Stone Roses and Primal Scream I think they're both massively overrated. On the other hand, how Jason Isbell isn't one of the biggest stars in music eludes me.

Another Tele here: a sunburst Nashville Deluxe. Plus a fireglo Rickenbacker 330/6 and an Epiphone Hummingbird Pro. Thinking about it, this is more guitars than the guitarist in our band has.

Can't compete with some of these, but in the very late 80s/early 90s* I and around 150 others went to see Tad at the Norwich Arts Centre. They were supported by an up and coming band called Nirvana *it's all a bit hazy

I'm a big Country fan and have been enjoying it. It's noticable though how much looks to have been cut out for the UK broadcast (16 hours down to 9 I think). No Everley Brothers, Don Williams etc. Precious little on country rock, Gram Parsons, Guy Clark, Townes van Zandt. God I sound like a moaning bugger.

Met the original bass player on the day he was born in 1973. He's my little brother. Met the guitarist in 1974, when we were both four years old on our first day at school. Met the singer ten years later at school. The original drummer was a housemate of the guitarist and singer. One day his computer went in to be fixed and some photos were found. He got a place on the sex offenders register. Our singer is now a teacher, so funnily enough... I became the bass player when my brother left as I was the least competent guitarist. I met the new drummer last Sunday. He's our guitarist's hairdresser. Sorted.

They're my favourite band, based mostly on the five IRS albums, and Mike Mills is one of my musical templates as a bass player. If I didn't have them to "borrow" from I'd have written only about half of the songs we play. The mid period five albums clearly struck a chord worldwide and have some of their very best songs (Nightswimming, Find the River). I guess they just got bored after years of just playing the same instruments and songs and tried something different. For me, NAIH is their last great album. Once Bill Berry left though the heart seemed to go out of it. The last five albums are, to me, the five weakest. All have a few good songs on them but that's a poor return compared to the earlier stuff.

At the risk of being controversial: I live five minutes walk from the Brickmakers but never, ever go there. Whilst it's great that they support live music, as a pub it's just awful (decor, beer etc). It's a shame as it wouldn't take much to make it a pleasant place to go.

I'd love to be able to claim a Gram Parsons/ Mike Mills style Nudie suit as stage wear, but the originals are a bit £££ and I've never seen a decent copy for sale
