1.
BUT.... you know what the best thing I ever did was? I joined a pub band - a just starting out with only three songs pub band luckily - at age forty. I was bloody terrified. I kid you not. It still doesn't take much to get me into a complete flap but three bands and hundreds of gigs later I'm an altogether better person. It's brilliant therapy. Post in gumtree or somesuch for some like minded musicians who might like to learn a few songs and maybe play some small gigs, possibly in front of a few friends to start and work up. Think about it!
+1 for this. It's that very first step thats the real hurdle if u have a chronic lack of confidence. I have done thousands of gigs - pubs, functions, TV, stadiums even, luckily water off a ducks back (well not quite ) But stick me in a room at a party or a meeting and i am terrified and just want to run away - only me bass gives me real confidence and if u can get over the initial jump u'll be fine BB

 14.
I always think of Musicman Stingrays and Arias or Ibanez when it comes to 80s basses.
Loved the SB basses - had an SBR60 til recently - I think u saw more Arias then MMs. I think the most common pro amp would have been the Trace then but that didnt appear til mid late 80s I think
 15. Cheers, mate, i had heard that about the 4x10 combos and I figure the originals are silly money anyway. Its just for in a little private studio anyway and for completeness with the Precision when i find one. I have been thinking about which bass guitar/amp combination were typical of different eras 50/60s fender bass + fender amp or ampeg 70s still the precision probably but HiWatt or Orange? 80s Status/Trace Eliott? anyone more suggestions for a 'typical' set up for a particular time? BB
 16. Currently mulling over the purchase of a vintage Fender P but in the meantime have seen a stack (see attached pic) like this for sub £500 and thought that would go well with the Precision (when i find one i can afford) I think they made these til quite recently(?) Apart from testing it for the sound what should i be looking for to make sure I'm not buying a dog/paying over the odds for it Would i be better going for the reissue tweed cover 4x10 Bassman combo. or an original if affordable and available? Only ever bought new amps up til now. BB Added a pic of actual one for sale
 17.
it shows him at age 12 playing a Django standard in a typical gypsy jazz band, then jumping on to upright bass for the bass solo before resuming lead guitar duties. Some (stupendously lucky) people are just born with it
Like Skillbass, you mean? BB

 21. Have added Stringstar to me favourites! Got a bit concerned on the website when I saw a section called 'Vintage' - Blimey I thought thats no good I've got plenty of old strings why would I want to buy any? Of course it was s/h planks and there is a lovely Bob Glaub Lakland. BB
 22.
Out of Sight, Out of Mind.
...out of earshot would be be preferable! Sorry but not a fan. Can't get past his nasally little voice and appalling lyrics (IMO) To be fair I do have one of their many double live albums, bought from a local charity shop, and always thought it would be nice to play Mr Pink! Happy tripleting! and then some! BB
