1.
Thanks Jon, have added this obscure brand to my ever evolving Bass Encyclopedia - a project I should pick up again soon...
OT a bit here - have you in ur research for your encyclopedia came across an 80s bass maker from Devon,England area called D'wailles, de walles (or something close to that spelling) this has been bugging me for years. That WRM for a ton also has a warped neck BB
2. they are only looking for £100 for that one in the pic anyway BB
3. This is from Gumtree - it may even be the one ur mates talking about Looks familiar but never heard of WMR mebbe the pics will help BB
4. That is a beauty! and just the right colour too! BB
5. Luverrly! Didn't even know they made Factors with headstocks til i saw this one BB
6. If this is a wind-up, I hope it doesnt stop other genuine newbies coming on and asking the appropriate questions and getting the answers. It is heartening that people have given proper help and guidance here but will they be so quick next time something like this appears thinking they may be getting wound up and budding bassists may lose out on good advice. Its like a backwards gnome. It's not big and it's not clever BB
7.
My 64 reish (like Guy Pratts) original is Burgundy Mist which has a sparkle in it - although not as sparkly as that one - what a beaut. Think I'll sell my children!
Thats a dreadful thing to say!!!!........like Guy Pratts! Shame on you! How much a pound for the kids? BB
8. Anyway I thnk it is awesome (as my teenage kids would say) More power to yer router! BB

10.
If any of your guys ever want to sell one of these basses you come to me first ok
Took me 23yrs to find this so I'll probably get meself buried with this one. So if i leave you a map and u can borrow a shovel it's yours! BB
11.
Never heard of Michael Manring until this thread, and WOW! the man is awesome (although I think he could do with an extra hand for that hyperbass ) After a bit of research his album 'Thonk' keeps coming up (has The enormous room on it) so had a look to try and aquire it. HMV wha...? Amazon £70+ so without stealing it off the web, anybody point me in the right direction to get a copy? Cheers Andy Edit 4 spelin
As his Grandfather would say 'Don't roll your eyes like that, Walker!' BB
12. Apologies but I am full of sh*t! My mouth should stop writing cheques my brain can't cash. 6317 is the serial number for an early Modulator bass (78) according to the Shergold website also the logo is the nailed on badge style which does tie in with earlier models - so it is probably a nice early original one. It says Marathon Serial numbers can be sketchy which may explain why it comes up as a Modulator on the database or its a swapped out neck but age still in keeping with the body. My apologies again to everyone BB Yes the E string does seem a bit close to the edge (so don't push it!)
13. Quite right too, it being such a rare beast it deserves to get played. I didnt know there had been an issue with the lefties. There are plenty of basses i would never buy for various reasons ( 6 or 7 strings, fretless, acoustic, leftie or whatever ) but it's still nice to see 'em Best of luck with the sale BB
14.
Looks naked to me without the bridge cover.
Yep. Repro ashtrays are readily available and make all the difference - have put my black f/less up in the For Sale section BB
