1.
And yeah, like Pinball, really enjoying a decent Ibby thread. My first one was an SR300 in pewter that I foolishly moved on (it didn't sound good through an Orange 50W combo...). Would love to try an SR300e at some point.
Yeah, definitely try the "E" with the exposed pole piece pickups. A big step up from the old pups they put on the 300 series. Those 300E series and 370Es (with the maple body) are such good bang for the buck! With the powertap setting it's so easy to get a ballsy tone with "bite" and it seems that when I switch back from a higher series bass to the SR370E or SR375E I'm not having to settle for less...... I think I paid £150 for the 370e and £170 for the 375e, both second-hand, but mint. Outrageous value for money! That's the only problem with them, you buy em new, your going to take a haircut selling them used, but great from a buying perspective.
 2.
Interesting and seems to confirm the consensus on this thread, which is that the Nords on SR Premium are pretty universally liked, the bespoke Barts on the SR Prestige also, and these both represent a step up from the "standard" Barts on the SR Standard range.
LOL..... I think that just about sums it up! The licensed MK1 Barts on the standard series suck! The USA custom Barts on the Prestige are the only Barts worth owning! The Nordy Big Singles on the Premiums definitely get a thumbs up! On the standards (and below the Premium) the SR650/750 are the odd ones out, by not using the licensed Barts. They use CNDs (Carey Nordstrand Designed). They also get a thumbs-up! Interesting thread, how that come about, with Carey posting over on TB, New Nordstrand CND P & J Pickups?? Found on Ibanez SR650 & SR750 EDIT: The latest gen Ibby Powerspan, with the exposed pole pieces, that they use on the models lower than SR500, is not only a huge step-up on the previous gen Powerspan, I'd rather have that than the licensed Bart anyway.
 3.
Andertons have a stupid sale on these at the moment
Quite, but Andertons have already sold the stock they had of American made Elites..... Which was probably the best bargain of the Dimension rosewood board "blowout" sale..... (They were £999 for the IV string at Andertons and ISTR they only had the Violin finish and the Ceyene). I think the Natural Elite with maple board for £965, (if you like that kind of thing), is quite a deal! Of course, YMMV.
 4.
One of my pupils arrived at his lesson last week with one of the elite 18v models.
Pupil..... That makes me feel 20 years younger! LOL
 5. Fender American Elite Dimension Bass IV HH MN NAT Natural Bax have got 2 of the American Elites left, in natural, with the maple board. £1135.... On the checkout page, use code "DISCOUNT" to get an additional 15% discount, (another £170.25 off), so the final delivered in 2 days price, is £964.75. EDIT: I think that discount code expires on the 15/08, so today being the 13th, if you're gonna do it, do it NOW!
 6.
The premium range come with a soft hard case, if you get what I mean, ie, a rigid but not hard plastic case. Its a pretty good case.
Yep, that's the case my SR1300 came in. Do they sell the hard/soft case separately, I wonder? Last time I looked, (I wanted a "fitted" case for a "lower" model SR), the only option from them (Ibanez) was a solid/plastic hard case. EDIT: On the subject of hard cases, I'm still trying to figure out what the differences are if any between the MB20SR hard case and the MB300C, that I think replaced it...... TSA locks, maybe??????
 7.
I'm not enjoying this thread as it's got me totally hooked on Dave's YouTube channel. His accent makes me laugh for starters and I've no idea if he's any good at repairs or not but there's something really relaxing about it. I know, I need to get out more!
Many things about Dave are hilarious, and that's before he's had a few of his favourite Molson Canadians.... Best giggle, is the video of Dave back in the 80/90's, (before he turned into a curmudgeonly old fart), bass player in Diamond.... That "mime along" video of him rocking-out his P-bass in the painted-on or leather strides, with the poodle perm.... Oh boy.... 8.
That's the cheapest I've seem these basses go for - and believe me I've looked. Bargain!
From a quick Google search, £1113 seems to be the best in-stock price at the mo...... £1113 @ GAK £1113 @ Rich Tone Music
 9.
Popped into Wunjos Bass on Denmark St to check out the Ibbys today, as I had a meeting in town. Some very minor shop dings on the back of the SR1800 – so Tom, the manager, agreed to knock £159 off the display price which, together with a hard case and two year unlimited free servicing, I think we both left happy with!
Tell me if I'm being too inquisitive! What was Wunjos sticker price for the SR1800, prior to the discount?
 10. LOL. Good ol' Dave, really doesn't have a lot of love for Rics!
 11.
Andertons is still showing 15th August for the white one... tempted to order but doubt they will make that date.
My gut is telling me that Christmas is more likely, than the end of the summer..........
 12.
The delivery date for my Vintage Pro T Bird at Gear 4 Music has been pushed back to 30th December overnight. I thought the 1st of September was a bit optimistic!
Curious, the ebony and white models still say estimated 01/09 on the G4M site.... but the sunburst is now 30/12. Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro Electric Bass, Tobacco Sunburst Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro Electric Bass, Alpine White Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro Electric Bass, Ebony
 13.
Also, the Dimension not being a Precision or a Jazz means it will probably get cancelled in a few years
I think the Dimension is no longer being produced, which is why Andertons are offering the blow-out pricing on them, having purchased the remaining stock from Fender.......
 14. OK, so Andertons is a £499 pre-order for the vintage T'Bird.... Just noticed them listed as pre-order on Gear4music @ £479, with a delivery estimate of 01/09. 15. Bought an Ibanez SR1300 Premium from Greg. Great guy to deal with. Almost feel like I robbed him, the price I paid for it. A quick string change, (I prefer a heavier gauge), truss-rod tweak, saddle height adjust, and she's playing beautifully and sounding as good as any higher-end Ibby I've had my hands on! Thanks Greg!
 16.
I love some of the comments...
The video of him playing his 9 string non-bass guitar is worth a watch too! LOL https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkBizJIX-Kg
 17. Eh?!?!?!?! Greg, Now I'm super confused. This appears to be the ad for the Ibanez SR1300, not the MB410 cab. Maybe my browser is confused, but I'm reading the description for the Ibanez bass, in what I think is the ad for the MB cab.....
 18. Greg, clicked on the GAK link you provided, (just because I could), and they have the weight listed as 29.9kg, rather than the 25.7kg you gave. Just sayin' .....
 19.
Not good enough.
Sorry, my humour sucks!
Where are your Videos ?
I don't make videos. I'm not running a business using YouTube as a "promotional" medium for that business.
 20. Today.... Learn to play walking bass... in less than 10 minutes! Next week.... Learn to play like Jaco... in less than 1 minute!
 21.
He commented that despite the great build quality and playability, how they lost money on the resale market.
Yes, it's a shame for anyone trying to sell one pre-owned, but as far as I can remember it's not something that's happened overnight. As good as the Ibanez Premium and Prestige basses are, anyone buying one brand new, should know they are looking at a 50% depreciation at the point they try to sell it on. It's bad enough trying to get back a sensible amount of $$$$'s on the SR500 (and lower series)..... That's just about the tipping point of getting a semi-sane resale price, but any higher up the ladder and you're looking at a good butt-kicking trying to resell it. The moral of the story being, don't buy a high-end Ibanez on a whim/GAS, unless you are sure it is going to be a keeper for you. Anyway, I hope Greg does get some interest otherwise I'm going to have to insult him with an offer of 200 quid less than he is asking for and risk having a 200 mile drive to collect it, if he says yes!

 23.
My plan is to leave the thread open till middle of May, if there hasn't been an upsurge in interest we'll cancel.....
Is it not possible to re-schedule for another day?
