We do a punk version of rudolf the red nose reindeer which goes down well, first verse and chorus sung completely straight and twee then all hell breaks loose.
I was in the Green Man in Derby many years ago when the band stopped due to a fight (not that uncommon in there at the time). The bouncers waded in and threw out the two offenders, when the melee had settled we realised that the two chucked out were the lead guitarist and the vocalist. Still no idea what happened but it was proper full on fists everywhere fight. They were playing and in the middle of a song when it all kicked off so I presume one made a comment that set the other off or something like that.
Not just music venues, Mallory Park had all sorts of hassle due to this. A pub is hardish to miss but a full scale racing circuit conveniently named after the village it’s in?
This^^^^^ the artwork and pics are all part of the music experience to me. I can picture the covers of all of my favourite albums, probably 99% of all the ones I,own in fact. I also like the fact it can’t be deleted or lost in an ‘upgrade’.
It’s the Ditto that’s the problem, I guess it drains more power than the others. Easy enough to get around as I only use that as a practice tool so just unplugged it and all was good.
It’s the whole experience, a lot of the music I love isn’t technically brilliant but it has ‘something’, whereas I can see superb musicians doing amazing things and it leaves me cold.
Did a fundraiser for one of our colleague’s daughter who has been recently paralysed from the waist down. We played at work in an outdoor area about 60’x120’. Sound was a nightmare due to the walls and the marquee roof, struggled to avoid sounding like we had permanent reverb. Floor was wobbly slabs which didn’t help the sound either. Mostly colleagues, friends and family and were up for it from the off. The support band played 40 minutes then we did 2x1hour sets with them shouting for more at the end (sadly we were bouncing off the licence curfew). A brilliant night and raised a load of money as well.
Homes under the hammer is horrendous, they must do the little camera pieces and then hand over the files to this weeks work experience kid who then picks a word at random and trawls YouTube for a song with it in the chorus.
Tribute suggests it is being done in some way to honour the original. I doubt many people in tribute bands dislike what they play, and in my experience they do it for the love of the music in question so tribute band is perfectly acceptable within the meaning of the word.
I like to hear it but probably couldn’t name a worse song to play as a bass player to be fair. I think their bass player must have been ill and only a one fingered monkey was available as a replacement.
Power supply is (allegedly) good for 1800mA, I run a tuner, kill switch (LED only so no draw when off), chorus, overdrive and ditto so hardly close to that in theory. I will have a go tonight but guessing that will be the problem.
Looked at spalted beech. There is a gorgeous bit I will get if it’s still there next pay day. Then a darker back, possibly sepele again if I can get another piece.
I wondered about that, but partly discounted it as only the Spectracomp was on. Perhaps the other pedals are drawing current even though they aren’t on. I will unplug a few and see if it helps.
i have been looking for nice woods and found some I can’t ignore. I have also decided on shape, but I will reveal that later.
The next question then is, how skinny can a bass be? Working out a few things I am think in the region of 30-32mm which with a decent wood will give enough support for the neck. My guess is a through neck could be thinner but that is beyond my ability for now.
I think I know the reason for this but after a second opinion as it is also a bit weird. I have a Mooer Reverb pedal I use very occasionally. Having a quick practice tonight ahead of a gig on Friday, go for the reverb and it just makes a loud and continual clicking noise, not the pop you sometimes get on switchover but a continual clicking. I am guessing this is some sort of interference with the shared power supply. I haven’t got an individual one I can test and it doesn’t take a battery to check. The only weird thing is that the pedal board has been in its current form for ages with the exception of the addition of a Ditto but AFTER the reverb. No other pedals on except the always on Spectracomp.
So am I right to suspect the power supply? Or is the pedal borked?
