1. Ive got another of these if anyone wants it
 2. Surely if your lead is producing that much capacitance it is either broken or been terribly designed. The capacitance of any competently built cable should be so low as to be negligble.
 3.
Well the restoration of my SB Elite is 1/2 way through. All the hacked in cavities have been filled, new machine heads, Armstrong pickup, switch, knobs, strap buttons and output socket. A lovely new rosewood trussed cover, a la Cliff Burton. The luthier did a nice neat job of all the hacking I did many years back. There now comes a long pause in the process while I save money for a total refinish. I'm going to have it refinished in black. And I need to find somewhere to replate the bridge.
I wouldnt bother with the replating the bridge. just polish it to death to remove whatever plating was on there and you will get back to the brass. when brass is polished properly it looks better than any gold finish I have ever seen... will post a photo of the brass bridge on my 1980 Vantage that I polished myself to give you an idea
 4. this is posted elsewhere but I think it's appropriate to repost given the thread title From left to right: Status Series 1 5 String (modded with Aguilar OBP-3) Stuart Spector Design NS-94 1982 Ibanez Roadster RS824BB Aria Pro II Super Bass II 1980 Vantage VA-900B (modded with SD 1/4lb'ers and Aguilar OBP-3 running at 18V) '97 Warwick Corvette (German), Wenge neck, Bubinga body I also have a 1990 Warwick Streamer 5 string (neck thru with Barts) but that is currently under restoration so will post some pics of that once it's finished.
 5.
Love that roadster amazing wood grain and has obviously been very well looked after.
thanks mate. yeah she is a stunner. in terms of how she looks now I did a light restoration including polishing the frets, refinishing the fretboard, polishing the bridge and saddle, and polished the trussrod cover. unfortunately I will have to let her go soon so if you or anyone else here is interested then let me know. cheers
 6. Google maps is your friend!
 7.
I've just asked my sister to buy this as a birthday prezzy for my brother-in-law (they live in New York).
I take it you don't like your brother-in-law? 😂
 8. Maybe it's some kind of counter-neckdive device that he is skillfully employing!
 9.
Seems to have been relisted. Everything looks legit to me on the listing that's there now... Neck pocket and neck stamps look good. Serial number on the back of the scratchplate. 76 decals were all over the place, it's well known. At the £1300 starting price it's at now, I'd call it a bit of a bargain. Have a look what they're asking for mid 70's Fenders in the London shops. If I was considering buying (I'm not, I have a 75 that's essentially the same) I'd ask for a close up pic of the pickup serial numbers, and the pot codes. This will date everything you need to know and you can buy without worry or walk away fully informed. HTH.
what about the strings being out of line with the neck - that really worries me!
 10.
Am I crazy or doesn't that bass have a control cavity?
You appear to be correct and I can't believe I didnt spot that before lol! God only knows is the answer to the inevitable question...
 11. Alex was perfect to deal with in his purchase of my Yamaha Trb5II recently. Payment was very fast and I would happily deal with him again
 12. A neck thru think is thing of pure beauty for me and the tone no less pleasing to my ears! One of the few basses to cause me proper GAS.
 13. Bashed up? Think you are being rather fussy there. Sure it ain't mint but it's in good nick with a few dings and some paint missing IMO...
 14. thanks mate. Yeah it is a stunner and it took a while for me to realise that was the actual grain and not an elaborate paint job. I know that sounds silly but the grain just looked to crazy to be true and I could also see some other straight grain underneath it. I guess it's a bit like spalted maple or something?
 15.
The Ibby Roadster's interesting - the active RS924 is a lot more common than the 824. I have a 924 and imo it's a nicer-sounding bass when passive. Can't blend the pups on the 924, which I assume you can on yours. Nice Aria SB too - always had a bit of GAS for these, I've had an RSB Deluxe II from new, which is basically the same bass with PJ type pups.
thanks. Yeah the RS824 is a real beast and yes you can blend the pups by the individual volume controls. here are some better pics of the '824: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/191177-ibanez-porn/page__view__findpost__p__3149847 Loving the Aria SB II. So punchy, versatile, light and oh so playable!
 16. I've only ever played 3 gigs and that was about 15 years ago. I will get back into it eventually but still love playing bass at home and just love basses in general.
 17. Thanks guys. Yeah for me the Status 5er is the bass I would keep if I was allowed to only keep one bass. The tone, playability, balance, versatility and weight are all spot on. Shame about the ugly headstock though...
 18. Well I thought I would gather the family together for a group photo as it is likely I will be parting with a few of them in the next few months (Ive already lost a few members over the last couple of weeks). So allow me to introduce the remaining family: photo hosting From left to right: Status Series 1 5 String (modded with Aguilar OBP-3) Stuart Spector Design NS-94 1982 Ibanez Roadster RS824BB Aria Pro II Super Bass II 1980 Vantage VA-900B (modded with SD 1/4lb'ers and Aguilar OBP-3 running at 18V) '97 Warwick Corvette (German), Wenge neck, Bubinga body I also have a 1990 Warwick Streamer 5 string (neck thru with Barts) but that is currently under restoration so will post some pics of that once it's finished. It's more basses than I need or deserve but what can i say, I just love bass guitars!!
 19. well ive really enjoyed looking at all these beautiful Ibanez's, especially the vintage ones, and thought I would add my own little bit of Ibby porn. My beautiful Roadster RS824BB:
 20.
For £10k you'd think he'd post more than three mediocre pictures....
nah, the photos are in keeping with the rarity of the bass lol!
 21.
Switches trim the top end and put a boost around the cut off freq.
Ive never seen that before - what type of pups are they?
 22.
Love that short horn, I wonder if it is possible to retro one of mine. Are those switches on the pickups, what do they do?
Of course it would but think how it could affect balance. If you did do it the best thing to do to acheive the best finish would be to refinish the bass at the same time. not difficult either if you have the right tools and aptitude. I had a 6 string thumb with a bolt on broadneck briefly - it was a truly stunning instrument but neither the 6 strings not the broadneck was for me so I moved it on. Will post some pics later...
 23.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222268066829?_trksid=p2060353.m2763.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Any thoughts guys? Bank transfer or cash on collection.
Fair price for a NT in very good nick. That bubinga pommelle is stunning. I would feel better about it if the payment terms were different though.. Try and speak to the guy, even on the phone prior to committing yourself. Should put your mind at ease or help you decide it's not for you...
 24.
I'm having a clear out, and I am about to list a load of effects pedals. Now it's probably me, but the way I read the charges it just wouldn't be worthwhile, here's what it states: You will be charged £7 per item, or £20 for unlimited items for a year on items over £50. I really wanted to pay the annual fee of £20, but does that mean I will be charged an extra £7 to list each pedal, because all but one will be under £50? And if I decide to go the £7 per item route, it just wouldn't be worthwhile, as I intend to list them low in the hope that they sell, and that people will get something for a reasonable price, but some are as low as £15, so if I take £3 off for postage and £7 for the listing, that means I end up with just a fiver. Ideally, I would like to list them separately so I can include all the necessary info, so would I be better off putting them on eBay where most weeks they offer free listings, or should I pay a one-off fee of £7, and price them all separately in the one very long listing on here?
I have to say that it could be worded clearer!
 25.
New drummer, no question!
For sure! No matter who you got they would better than Lars and less of a d!ck as well!
