Why don't you provide the details that have been requested? I don't understand your reluctance to provide as much info to potential buyers as possible. If you don't want to sell your bass, this is a good way to do it! -

[/quote] absolutely. and quality strings, like tyres, last longer so although the initial outlay is more, in the long run it's a better investment and not to mention they sound better(the strings that is, not the tyres!) -

When I fit my Schaller straplocks to my straps, i secure the bell shaped reccess in a benchtop vice and then tighten the nut with an adjustable spanner. If you dont have access to proper tools you could always use some loctite to make sure the nut never works loose

can I ask why you ask? the reason being you mention Schallers but I cant imagine needing anything other than them as they seem to work perfectly and Im so impressed i have them on all my basses and straps. be interested to hear if anyone is less than impressed with Schallers.

I have 2 of them so they cant be that uncommon.

Ok so regarding the wood/finish this is what I have found: "BB is the finish code for Brazilian Brown, a semi-opaque swirl of dark brown over the clear finished mahogany body. This finish was only offered in a single year, 1982, and it was not one of the most popular offerings, making this quite rare." So I'm pretty certain it is a mahogany body. As for the finish, I have had the neck off to check the pocket and yes, those incredibly elaborate swirls are not actual grain/figuring - they are part of the finish that was presumably done by hand. -
Stunning, all original, 1982 Ibanez Roadster RS824BB, with Ritter hardcase, [u][b]Now only £645 shipped internationally - £595 for UK!![/b][/u] When I say stunning, I really mean it! Not only does this gorgeous bass have one of the most detailed and elaborate finishes I've ever seen(those swirls/figuring you see on the body are not the grain of the wood but are part the Brazilian Brown finish!) but the sound is also beyond belief! It features the highly reknowned Super P-4 and Super J-4 pickups and it is hugely versatile thanks to the twin volume and tone controls as well as the 3 way pickup selector switch. To the best of my knowledge this bass is completely original(I have fitted Schaller staplock buttons but I have kept the originals and will include these in the sale). When I took ownership it was showing signs of it's 34 years on this planet so I have given it a light restoration - bridge cleaned and polished, fretboard stripped of original finish (which had started to break up) then refinished with Danish oil, frets polished, complete setup and new D'addario strings fitted, trussrod cover cleaned and polished. Everything functions perfectly on this bass including all electronics and the trussrod. The instrument is overall in very good condition, even without taking into account it is 34 years old! There are some minor scuffs, chips in the finish, dings and scratches which I have tried my best to show in the photos below - please note that you really have to look for them to even notice them in most light conditions! The only real negatives are one chip and two cracks in either the lacquer and/or possibly the veneer on the headstock. Either way these are definitely only superficial cracks, they are not structural and in no way affect the function of the bass. Please note that my price includes an excellent Ritter hardcase and fully tracked and insured international shipping. For those from mainland UK interested please let me know and I can work out a better price due to reduced shipping costs. So I recently bought an Ashdown Five Fifteen 2 x 10" MiniRig. It works ok but there is a definite distortion to the sound once the initial note sounds out. So much so that I thought the drivers were faulty and bought a set of replacement drivers. They arrived and I duly installed them but once it came to the sound absuletly nothing has changed! The same distortion is there! I have tried different amps with both the original and New drivers and yet the distortion is still there! I'm at a loss!

Owned a German 4 string $$ for a while and thought it probably the most versatile sounding bass ever. The coil tapping options combined with active/passive options allow so many possibilities. Loved it's light weight and general ergonomics but ultimately couldn't get on with the chunky neck and flat fingerboard.
