  1. Always support new players!
  2. That's me! I"m not trying to hijack the thread to sell stuff (honest), but I also have an Epiphone Les Paul Special ii which has been set up and plays great (and is even cheaper!). As it's for a starter, I've probably got loads of stuff I can send along for nowt as I'd be happy for it to go to a good home and not being sat unused in my music room/office. Talking a stand, little tuner, slide, leads, few books etc.
  3. Barefaced One 10! This is a wonderful, one cab solution – so good in fact that I've bought a couple of larger ones and this is now not used. It's a shame to let this stand around doing nothing, as it's such a wonderful cab. Was looking for £325. Postage to a UK address is included in the price. This seems to be the same price as others have sold for, but please let me know if I'm way out. Images below. The cab has the obligatory tolex peel at the back (only slight). If you need more pics, then please ask. There is no cover with this. Merry Christmas!!! 4. Always easier to do it properly in my experience!
  5. Excellent advice. Annoyingly, the Precision requires taking off the whole scratch plate and strings to do this. In 20 years your ordinary bass has become a collectible and, if in good original condition, is now worth approximately £2000. However, if you start playing with the electrics and de-soldering and re-soldering things you’ll effect this, so I’d personally take it a to a tech and do all I could to retain its originality.
  6. I have a small block of ebony and also some black milliput if it’s of use to anyone?
  7. This is exceptional value for a wonderful guitar. I’ve had one of these for years and it’s brilliant.
  8. Was talking to a guitar shop owner and he was saying that he regularly gets calls from people who are disposing of guitar collections. Usually a parent or child. Even hobby guitarists now have thousands of pounds worth of gear. I stripped mine back to what I consider the essentials, and that’s still a double bass, 3 x basses, acoustic guitar and 2 electrics. That’s still 7!
  9. Boom. Hit the nail on the head with this one. This is exactly the same as me. As soon as I regain some mental equilibrium and feel more positive about life I shed all the superfluous crap. What’s funny is that the gigging instruments always remain the same - I just accumulate then dispose of other things. It’s all pretty harmless and I’ve never lost money, but viewed from the outside it’s entirely pointless. US Fender Jazz for the good gigs, Squier P/J for the rough ones and 66 jazz for recordings. Been the same for years.
  10. I need this gone or it's going to the lock-up. How about £125?
  11. I’d avoid this like the plague unless the seller is down the street and you can buy the bass in person.
  12. If it looks too good to be true....
  13. Its a really cool little guitar for the mini metal head! Mu daughter prefers a mini strat.
  14. This is the arch top model which has been hand carved (apparently) and with the roasted maple neck. Quite how this is possible for the price I don’t know. Perhaps it’s best not to ask!
  15. Looking for a quirky guitar for home noodling or for a little one? This is an excellent condition Jackson Dinky! This has been played a few hours (if that). Plastic remains on the back and the truss rod cover. The only minor blemish is a small spot on the first shark fin inlay. I’ll set it up with new strings before sending. No case, but I have several suitable boxes to post. It you can collect from Bristol! These cost almost £300 new, but this one is £135 £125 as I need the space. 16. She doesn’t need to spend more money on boxes. Better headphones will do the job! Several of the solutions here cost hundreds of pounds and involve lots of wires and complexity. Use your amp, get better headphones, and save money.
  17. It sets expectations though, and I’ve been to enough auctions to know how it works. Looks like a piece of junk to me, and is hardly collectible in its current state.
  18. Everyone has chopped on with a good solution, but given you already have an amp you’re happy with, then why bother investing lots in something else? Stick an Ad in the wanted section below and I’m certain someone will have some headphones for sale at a good price you can use. I did have a set of Behringer over ear headphones I would give you but I gave them to my mum! These are £12, come with the adaptor and will do the job. Yes, it won’t sound as good as a £400 WAZA air, but they’re a tenner and will do just fine for quiet practice.
  19. Auctioneer’s estimate is crazy. £5.5k + 31% fees… You’re looking at £9,000 for a refinished guitar that’s not in its original case. And the vendor “advises is working” - thanks for that! I’d steer clear of this at £3,000
  20. Firstly, sorry for your loss. The bass should be appraised by a professional, who could sell it on commission for you. Alternatively, you can pay for a professional assessment and sell it privately. Remember that dealers have sizeable overheads to pay (including premises, operating costs and a salary) and you'll likely get less in a private sale than if you were selling in a shop (not that it stops some people).
  21. Wood Brothers are ace!
  22. I did a gig with him and he was a tremendously nice man. Think I was 22 at the time and I didn’t really know who he was, but he was friendly and helpful. A true gent.
  23. Unleash your inner Dave Gilmour! Here’s an (almost) mint 2021 FSR Mexican Strat. It's as-new, with just one tiny mark on it (pictured). It's a Guitar Guitar Ltd edition and comes with the hand-wound Fat 50s pickups with the raised pole pieces. It's a much more vintage-sounding guitar than the same year Player Strat I have. The plastic is off the plate but remains on the neck plate and rear plate. I'm pretty sure I have all the hangtags for it, and I certainly have the term arm. There is one slight ding which you can't see when it's being played (joy of a black finish!), but I've pictured it, so you can see it. Looking for £399, which is a significant saving from the brand new price (which is £749). I have a Fender guitar box and can send this to you ASAP so it gets there safe and sound before Christmas.
