  1. CD’s is neither a plural nor possessive. It’s a contraction. It’s more valid than banana’s as banana’s isn’t a contraction.
  2. Is CD’s a contraction of compact discs, meaning the apostrophe is valid? A little like doesn’t.
  3. This is possibly of no interest to anyone, but you’ve got me started. In 1978 I was still at school and lived 20 miles from Cardiff. I was at school with Spike Reptile’s younger brother, so saw Reptile Ranch and YMG four or five times before YMG signed to Rough Trade. There were typically fewer than 10 people at those gigs. At the time of the Nottingham Boat Club gig, I was living in Ashby, 20 miles from Nottingham. I was still at school and couldn’t get to Nottingham for that gig, though I did see Joy Division at a disused cinema in Derby with 20 other people. Last week Peter Hook signed the scratch plate of my Hooky six…
  4. I played with the Czechs on the Rough Cuts EP on Z-block, who introduced the world to the Young Marble Giants.
  5. Just listened to it on YouTube. I liked it. Then I took a look at the list. Surprised to see the band I played in back in ‘79 are listed.

Yes. Plus I think each pickup pole is individually wired to the pre. And the pickups are big.
  7. In the old days (before the internet), second hand goods sold for roughly half the new value.
  8. That’s what Spotify is for. You can listen to those six CD extended sets of a 40 minute album without a huge investment. I agree, those demo versions are usually a one listen experience.
  9. Be careful. It’s a one click bid, with no prompt to confirm or cancel. I accidentally bid on a bass.
  10. I particularly like my Pino.
  11. Have you thought about an eight string Ric? Or a double neck Ric - one two string, one three string.
  12. But you couldn’t. The Shergold bass 6 has been very hard to get for a long time. My point isn’t that I was right. At the time, you said I was an idiot for suggesting a Shergold, and you’ve talked about how people do not understand the Eastwood business model. The business model is to reissue quirky designs that are no longer generally available. The Shergold is a perfect example. x
  13. To be fair, you said the same about the Shergold Bass 6, which is now available from Eastwood. I think they would make a 4005 if it wasn’t for the legal problems.
  14. I think you only need 10 purchasers to get an Eastwood bass made. I still think the bass mandola twin neck is the only thing we will all agree on.
  15. Apparently, these were not popular when available. I wonder what the manufacturing cost would be. Obviously never going to happen. Let’s get back to that Basschat bass. How about and 8 string acoustic? Twin neck bass / mandola?
  16. Turns out this wasn’t that dumb a question after all. https://eastwoodguitars.com/collections/bass/products/hooky-bass-6-pro
  17. Easily switch between two basses, or two amps. £5 postage.
  18. It’s a little battered and a little scratched; the knobs are not original, the battery cover is taped on; there’s some writing on it...but it works just fine. £25 plus £5 shipping.
  19. I do this too. I also use the standard compressor and one of the bass eq settings c
