1. The Young Marble Giants are my favourite band of all time. I've always wanted to play the bass line to Wurlitzer Jukebox, but my lack of musical skill prevents me from working out the notes. Does anyone have the tab, notation, or just the notes? Failing that, how about "Final Day"? Thanks Steve
2. I use a little valve preamp with the ten2 for electric. It's good.
3. I think the one on ebay is a first edition.
4. Nice bass, good packaging, excellent communication.
5. Short answer is, the bass is for sale at £820. It's three years old. Slightly longer story. I wanted to get enough money together to buy a Rob Allen bass, so I put five basses up for sale. Four of these have now sold, so I have less motivation to sell the bass vi. I'll sell it for the right price though. It's a nice bass. Thanks Steve
6.
Damn, if only it was more expensive and I'd take it :-(
I've had some high-ball offers on this that I had to turn down. if you make me an offer a little over the asking price we could have a deal - I can always say no if your offer is too high.
7.
Why had the price gone up?
Hi Prime_BASS, I feel bad that the price has incresed. Just for you, i'll let you buy it at the pre-increase price. You need to buy it by Sunday though, OK? Thanks for your interest. Steve
8. More questions Do you have a picture of the tuners , and back of the neck ?
9. More questions - Does it have a case? Yes. It's not a Hofner case, but it is a period case and a good for the bass. Thanks Steve
10. Some people asked me some questions, and asked for some specific photos. Do you have any more info on its date? When I bought it I was told it was a 1968. I've has a look at some information on he web to try and confirm this. It has a serial number at the top of the headstock (8761). I tried to find a date corresponding to this. I read here http://www.hofner.co...mer_numbers.pdf that only the Hofner basses produced for Selmer had seal numbers. The serial number I have does not correspond to the Selmer numbers. I read somewhere that basses produced for Holland also have a serial number. (You know that thing where you photograph a bass and the marks look really bad...and I didn't even get the whole serial number). I then looked at this site, which allows you to date a violin bass based on the logo, pickups, tuners etc. http://www.fuenfhund...hof_models.html 1. Raised plastic logo - 1963 to 1967 (you know that thing when you take a photograph of your bass and it looks like you have never dusted it...) 2. Single closed tuners with plastic wings - 1967 to 1973 4. Blade pickups with engraved Hofner logo - 1967 to 1972 5. Cream control panel - 1965 to 1971 If you draw a five part Venn diagram, then one set of criteria imply 1967, others 1968 (assuming the web site is correct of course). it does also say that some 1967 features were carried over to 1968, so I'm going for '68. Off to see Mad Max now. More later. Thanks Steve
11.
But... Africa is not a country </pedant>
But Africa contains a number of countries.
