1. Think there are a few companies on the web that offer this product..... but it's not cheap...... my brother plays in a trio where they made their own backing tracks with a multi recorder..... much better option
2. I've used them..... they work fine..... the 2 x 12 really packs a punch...
3. The Sunbed Song.... they do a very funky live version.....
4. I'm a big fan..... some of the lyrics that King comes up with are a bit cringeworthy but I can live with that..... The early tapes is a good place to start... I still love the World Machine and Forever Now albums.... some great production and great bass playing.
5. much bumpage
6. you might also wanna have a chat with the guys over at Statii.com
7. We should all give up and become Guitards instead and not worry about it.
8.
Hi, New to this site and just wanted some tips on gettin better at the bass. I am 15 and already pretty good. I would say I am as good as most pros and me dad sais i am the best he has heard. I am looking to get some session work soon, my dad knows some people he sais. Anyone have any tips for someone starting out playing bass proffessionally? P.S. I only want to play pop/country stuff. Cheers, Zak
9.
I'm impressed - I used to detune the 30s I ran with a semitone (well, the 90 E anyway) but more than that, and I used a rather good pitch shifter instead... mind you, I tend to really dig in to strings.
Although I should mention I use Status basses..... the necks tend not to move....
10.
The advice that you should buy a Mac for Garageband seems a bit iffy. I've never used Garageband beyond using it to record live takes at rehearsals, but Macs are expensive boxes to be buying for one fairly limited piece of software. Someone else above mentioned how much more entry-level kit you could buy instead of a Mac (monitors, interface, etc.) and to me that looks like a more sensible idea. I have nothing against Macs but they are expensive, and given that there are DAWs which work on both Windows and MAC OS and you only have to buy one license, I don't see why we're discussing which computer to buy at all.
Because the question was asked in the op. Asking what options there were....
11.
If you plan on detuning any, lights definitely won't cut it.
that's not true..... I use 30-115 and detune down a tone..... no problem...
12. I play 30- 115 on my 5 string.... it's much easier to play and for bending strings also..... I play a lot of slap and it's great for that too. I'd say you have to experiment though.... I also use 35-120 on one of my 5 strings as it does give you a beefier sound the heavier you go.... just depends on what your trying to do I guess.... not to everyones taste but don't be put off.
13. +5 on the Mac front... (I have 5 currently) Garage bad to get you started..... move up to Logic Express for not a lot of money and a whole load of program... then take your choice from there... I favor Digital Performer...... but MAC all the way!!
14. Do they make these in 5 string?
15. My old trumpet teacher once said to me..... 'Some people say that practice makes perfect..... If you practice incorrectly the you are going to be far from perfect' J
16. Give me a 'B'...... Give me a 'U'....... Give me an 'M'....... Give me a...... oh you get the idea......
17. Any trades/part trades considered?
18. Oooh this is right up my street...... hmmm thinks..... another band......
19.
Does anyone else do this? Keep buying expensive basses but always end up going back to an old bass because it's just so awesome? I've tried loads of stuff, Vigier, Fender etc and now I have my ACG, but I still play my Sandberg in my band because it's just so good. Just got my old Warmoth back and a Fender P too, but already thinking about just selling them as I just can't see how they will get used, I buy them thinking that they will, then a few days later I'm not so sure, so I think that I should probably just get another Sandberg.
If it's not broken.... don't try to fix it!!
20. Hi all I have been doing this for a couple of years now.... I'm lucky enough to have a dedicated studio situated in my back garden. It's big enough for a 6 piece band to set up live and play as a rehearsal room. I use the Aviom Pro 16 System which enables each musician to create his own mix from their own mini desk (pod). It works great.... We are all on Sennheiser IEM's as well so there is total freedom.... just like being on stage. J
21. I'm bumping this again....
22. That's not a GA24?
23.
It think it was supposed to be the ideal reference CD at the time, Because of the pristine sound [of that time] Garry
Still is in some corners.... just track a long to PLASA or Frankfurt Pro- Audio halls and you'll hear it blasted from all corners.... along with The Eagles - When hell freezes over live CD......
