If you want good alternatives try - Beyerdynamic TGX 58 (compares better than the beta 58 and at least half the price) Sennheiser E845 - nuff said!!!

I have experience of this...... if you can.... buy a cheap Ipod... you can a refurbished one for about £25 from the Apple store... that way you don't have to worry about your laptop getting trashed. You won't really gain much over having a usb interface and may introduce Latency.

Hi Jake I have this set up and am running MOTU 828MK2 interfaces....... I believe there is a MK3 version now but all I will say is they perform wonderfully with no Latency issues at all. They also have decent Mic Pre's built in if you need to record without a channel strip or desk. Jay

Currently clearing the studio for a rebuild.... will get pics up soon. Two systems running synced some of the time but an Apple G4 tower running Digital Performer & Logic, 2nd system is an iMac running Logic 8 mainly but also Digital Performer. Both systems running into 4 x MOTU 828 MK2 interfaces. Front end are two Soundcraft Digital 428 Desks both synced together giving 64 channels in total (never needed), 32 of ADAT. Try to stay away from the plug-ins as I prefer to use outboard. Piccy of the studio from the outside below..... will get some more up after the clean up and re-installation later this week.

you really need to be speaking to a technician if it's cutting in and out. I would say that if you get it serviced they will fault diagnose for this any way..... where you based?

I've just gone down the Aguilar route. I tried the MarkBass gear but it just didn't cut it for me... for what I was looking for it was missing something, Personal preference. I bought 2 x DB112NT in the end matched with a GK MB2 500w head.... great sound. This is replacing the Eden Metro and 2x10 ext cab I was using.

Well I'm pretty much full on gig wise at present so I'd do three gigs with it over a weekend then drop it to the next person on the list
