EDIT I'd like to keep things civil between his band members and myself as i've been doing a bit of friendly digging. Still made me chuckle though!
 2.
And im the other side on St Annes, We have you surrounded! We do need another NW bass bash, ive been pestering for ages, you wernt at the last one where you Mr Lemmywinks?
I wasn't invited! [sulks]
 3.
What is the purple foam in the middle "supposed" to to?
It makes your car go faster and also increases the size of your wang twofold. Really, i have no idea!
 4. Hello, welcome! I'm just down the road in Cleveleys, you in any local bands? Time for a Fylde Coast Bass Bash methinks!
 5.
The sad thing is, when I bought my Stingray from Steve I sent him a message saying 'let me know when the cheque clears and I'll arange shipping' to which he replied ' don't want you to wait for your new bass send me your address and I'll get it packed up for collection' I thought it was a really nice gesture and I doubt he will do that again because of this theif.
It's a bit different when it's a true regular like yourself, i think most folk on here know you're not the sort who'd do that. I think part of the reason i trusted him was because he was a 50-60 year old guy who was giving up quite a lot of information about himself. Spending an hour in the internet playing detective unearths a ton of information about the guy, he's not exactly kept himself quiet and is easy to identify from the pictures, which link him from the forum to his band. He even used the same name on his facebook account Plus the 'Ray wasn't my bass Also, could somebody on here (pref a mod to keep things formal) take a screenshot of his profile page, in case he logs on and removes the photo? Thanks
 6.
Buy it from the Gumtree ad and don't pay him?
7. Many thanks for the time and info guys. If you search Cort on the gumtree listing you can still see "2x 5 string basses" listed, think that little picture is the one i took! His guitarist said he had just moved into a flat on southside as well Just to say thanks for all the digging around and advice, it's much appreciated. I do;t want any BCers getting into any trouble over a thief and £173, it's not worth an assault charge. However i am going to follow this up, the small claims looks like a great option and not costly (which i assume he'd be liable for anyway) Cheers again Steve
 8. Yeah i think CAB would be a good idea, cheers bud It was a Cort Curbow 5 string, this one: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=56487&hl=cort It's pretty distinctive but i think he'll have sold it by now. He mentioned in a thread that he was buying second hand stock from the forum to sell when his imaginery bass shop got off the ground. As he had no money (he was relying on the public coffers from a regeneration cheque) to buy the required amounts of new stock this was his idea The strange thing is that i was in contact with him for a while, he answered his phone and chatted about gigs and stuff. He was just like the typical forumite and never seemed likely to do a runner. That's what put me at ease about it, i still never believed he intended to not pay, i think he found himself in a position where he couldn't afford to pay his debts so chose to run away rather than face his problems W@nker
 9.
I think I remember that taking a small claims action in Scotland is pretty cheap, and costs can be added to what the loser will pay. Sounds like you have good evidence. http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/scotland/you...rt_scotland.htm fatback
Cheers dude. I'll give that some thought when i'm home from work. It's not that i need the money, i just hate it when theiving scum get away with things and the authorities shrug their shoulders. I remember when the whole Warwick Vampyre saga went to the police they actually paid the guy a visit and let him know it had got serious. Glasgow police just aren't interested!
 10. I've already been in touch with his guitarist who promised to "pass on the message". I don't think i'll be hearing from him again and he hasn't replied to any emails since Also i couldn't find any Glasgow music forums. Anyone know of any?
 11. A while ago i sold a bass to a forum member called jamiejames. The bank transfer was agreed and i arranged for the bass to be shipped on the same day, bass was collected but no money turned up To cut a long story short, the guy has basically turned his phone off and is refusing to pay for it. I have a ton of information on him with pictures linking him to this site and the band he plays with, including all his messages and the feedback he left me. I have an address, phone number, facebook, band site, youtube page, details of band members with available phone numbers. Also i have details of other projects he has been involved with such as films and agencies, all of which will have contact details I rang the police today, they are round the corner from his address yet i was told it is not a police matter. Despite having written confirmation of the sale and the fact he has received the bass, it is not a theft as foolishly i sent the bass without reveiveng payment first. NOT A THEFT! My only option is to pursue private legal action (over a £173 loss) or make a trip down to Glasgow. I suppose i am just gutted at the police being, yet again, totally useless when they are needed. The least i expected was for them to pay him a visit so he knows he is having his collar felt. I have done all the work for them and have loads of information on the guy, if i was in Glasgow i could easily track him down, let alone if i was a copper round the corner! Whaddyd reckon? PS no "should have known better" / "chalk it up as experience" replies please, i know this is partly down to my naiveity and don't need patronising. I'd like some constructive advice If anyone knows of his whereabouts, please get in touch via pm The guy is called Jamie (James Bryce i think) He lives/lived on Queens Drive, Glasgow He plays with the T Rex tribute band "Hot Love" around the Glasgow area Check out: http://www.midge-hotlove.co.uk/id4.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQsmadOwBLM...359e00d0c51074e He's the guy in the tartan pants He has been in a few small Scottish films such as "Dark Nature" He was setting up a bass shop in Glasgow called the Bass Space His facebook is also under jamiejames, his shop has a facebook site called bassspace EDIT for manners!

Very well specc'd too
 13. Btw if you message that eBay seller he may post them. As they're not too big you might be able to stick them in one box depending on weight Interparcel will ship boxes for around £8. Tell him you can book it in online to be collected from him, all he has to do is pack it. You can email him the labels to print at his end. I've done this a few times with collection only listings
 14. Most gigs you'll be going throught he PA and just using your amp as backline, still with a loud drummer you'd need something decent unless there's good monitors I started gigging with a Trace Elliot Commando 100w combo and tbh it was too quiet. Have a look at Peavey combos as i've always found those to be plenty loud enough, if it has an output for an extension cab you can get much more out of it with a borrowed cab (or PA bass bin/full range cab) You can get a stupidly good gigging rig for around £300 nowadays on the second hand market, especially as small lightweight rigs have devalued the Peavey/Carlsbro type stuff. Also bear in mind that the extra £50-£100 is future-proofing yourself a bit. I ended up upgrading pretty quickly when it would have been cheaper just to take the hit in the first place.
 15. If you could stretch to a little more Marcus Bell is selling a nice Ashdown rig on this forum http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=58089&st=20 That's a snip at £250 if you can pick it up
 16.
This trade comes with no strings attached.
I've just had to suffer an evening of my Dad's jokes, not one was as bad as that!

 20.
I think we have seen that one before.
Aye it was flagged up on eBay i think This one? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...amp;hl=musicman Link is dead now as it was a while ago, pretty sure this bass has been here before
 21.
and again to £850..... only £50 more than I sold it to him for, how much will ebay fees be?
Offer him £799!
 22.
i've dropped it to £400, but still no-one, i could go further but then i'm at a loss with anything i want tobuy - catch22!!! TBH though, i have seen and played a few us ones that really were poorer quality than this one!! i guess Skoda syndrome comes into it - built as highly as vw but its the badge that puts people off!!!
Don't expect a sale straight away! I stuck a nice bass on here for £65 the other week and it still took a day or two Leave it a week or two, chances are only a small percentage of BCers will have seen the ad, let lone considered buying it. Stuff takes a while to sell, give it a bump every week and keep an eye on the wanted section and also on trades
