The cabs are Markbass Club 121 which can be tilted back, the angle is quite sharp though (about 45 degrees) so I'm not sure foam would do it. Also they're tolex covered so Velcro might not be an option. I've had a look at acrylic book stands but they're about 30 quid and don't look ideal.

Wondering if anyone has found a solution to this. I want to use at least one of my cabs angled up towards me, either both as floor monitors or just the top cab of the stack. However I also want to use my amp head on top of the cab(s) without it falling off, is there a bracket or something that will hold it on? I was thinking along the lines of a long Z shaped bracket, one that hooks over the front of the cab, runs under the amp head and supports it from the rear. Had a look for camera mounts and DIY stuff that mught be suitable but was unable to find anything. Any ideas?

New cheap Marcus Miller endorsed range of basses - Sire
lemmywinks replied to Clarky's topic in Bass Guitars
These are great basses at any price Steve, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
It's looking like I'll be buying one soonish then. I'm fortunate to have already bagged a cheap 5 string with a great low B (and a Fishman piezo bridge!) but I want something more Jazz-like, was looking at the Cort GB series but these seem to be just what I was looking for. Is there any real difference between the Ash and Alder apart from price? -

Thanks, sounds like a good low B then! I think I'll grab one of these when Thomann have stock again, I was contemplating pulling the trigger on the Ash/Sunburst the other day but they have all sold out now. -
I agree, they punch well above their price. I cant see me buying another bass now, at least not unless they bring out a 5 string P bass built to this standard.
What's the B like on these, how does it compare to other 5s in the ~£300 price range? -

Bought two Markbass Club121 cabs from Kev, nice chap who looks after his gear. Cheers! Steve

Well the guy is a UK based builder, however the hardware and pickup look generic so I'm guessing not a top of the line model. Neck construction looks nice though as does the woodwork in general, at least what I can make out from the pictures. Decided to pass on it, nice looking bass but too many unknowns and not much resale value if I don't like it. Pretty sure I saw one on eBay go for well under £200 too..... EDIT: Assuming it's the same guy that does these customs and not a different brand: https://www.facebook.com/RobertsCustomInstruments/timeline

That was my thinking too, think I might give it a miss. I don't really want to gamble on something that might have a floppy low B.

Anybody heard of these? Been offered one in a trade (a 5 string Warwick Corvette copy) and can't seem to find much information about them. Looks nice but opinions on them are difficult to find, I assume it's these guys: http://www.shop.roberts-guitars.co.uk/ Trade value on it is £250, I expect it to be a decent bass but also remember one selling on eBay for less than that not so long ago - may be the same bass as I've never seen another. Another £100 gets me a Sire MM so I'm hesitant tbh, anybody got experience of them, particularly what the low B is like?

Five string sets, only one left (so two sets, I bought the other!): http://www.ebay.co.u...=item234d164aeb Four string sets, 8 (16 sets) available: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item27fb222520

Interesting Fortress Flashback copy
lemmywinks replied to lemmywinks's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I should have known you'd had one at some point! I'm watching it out of interest, can't gig a 4 nowadays. -
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111600725085 Not seen one like this before, in fact I've never seen a Warwick Fortress copy before let alone the Flashback! Looks quite solid but with generic parts, fair few watchers too.

I think you can just disconnect the tweeter in the 121p and wire the driver directly, I would do that (or swap it for a better one) as it's probably the ghastly little LeSon one they put in the other "p" cabs so no crossover. Does the 121 have the tweeter control knob?

Had a set of Seymour Duncan SJB-1 in my bitsa and they nailed the old school tone for a decent price. Nice rounded tone that sat in the mix really well.

LMII bass frequency is quite low at around 40hz IIRC, just roll back on that a little. If you have an active bass you can dial more bass in that way if needs be, that's what I do with a LMII/151p rig.

If an amp lacks phones socket, what options do you have?
lemmywinks replied to Samfordia's topic in Amps and Cabs
I use a Behringer Xenyx 302USB desk, it's tiny (pedal sized) and connects with just one USB port for power and MP3 in, so no bulky power adapters or line in cables to worry about. You can also use a 3.5mm jack for audio in if you wish. It also acts as a USB interface and comes with a free download of Tracktion 4 but I just use it for convenient practice, less cables means less hassle for me! It's also great for listening to music with headphones on a laptop as it beefs up the weak internal sound card as well as giving you some physical eq options. Was a bit over £30 when I got mine: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/302USB.aspx -
I've been using a Markbass Traveller 151p with the tweeter swapped out for a Stageline one. Gigged it on it's own paired with a LMII and it handles a low B fine at volume and sounds huge. Not the smallest cab but pretty light, an easy one hand carry. Tweeter is adjustable so you can turn it right off if you don't want the horrible Leson one they ship with. I don't notice much volume difference between this and my Schroeder which I always thought was a very loud cab, I also did an outdoor gig using just the Jeff Berlin combo as backline and it was plenty loud enough, I barely tickled the volume knob. Handle is decent too!

I have one of those bridges you linked to on my bitsa fretted Jazz, does the job fine if you don't want to fork out for a Gotoh 404. Everything works as it should and it's pretty solid. If I needed another bridge I'd buy one over a BBOT any day. It's quick loading too btw so no need to thread the strings through.

I would say just do what makes you genuinely happy. Life is far too short to overthink things, as long as you and those around you aren't affected negatively then do what you want, music is one of those things that tends to make everyone enjoy themselves so cutting back on it (or giving it up entirely) may not be the best solution. Although it might not be what you want to hear JapanAxe and Jus Lukin seem to be the "been there done that" guys on this thread.

Aria Sinsonido, should be able to pick one up for under £200 and you won't find much lighter than that!
