We ran our RCF 735 cabs without subs for ages in some decent size venues, absolutely no problem pumping bass out. They're 15s but are compact and pretty light.

Thanks for the info guys, am I right in thinking the B1on doesn't have a DI out? Osiris the compressor I used on my pedal board was the Multicomp so it's interesting that the Zoom is modelled on it, as an aside which version of the Multicomp did you use? The older version suffers from degradation apparently whereas the new black box version is meant to be much better, this is the version I have. Also did you adjust the trim pots inside the unit? It's a PITA to do but with some active basses you really need to set them up right. Mine sounded awful with my Sire before I found those trim pots.

Out of interest what's your opinion on the compression? I actually ended up buying the Fishman Pro Platinum EQ pedal which was more expensive but has a great DI, nice compression and some handy filters. I would still be interested in one of these as a spare to leave in the van, can't really grumble at the price.

I rarely get the LMII above 2 on the volume knob, some gigs it's been under 1. There's only me and the drummer who don't use in-ears so it's a very quiet stage, I always DI - no point lugging all that PA gear if you're not gonna use it! I expect one decent 10" wedge would be all I need, want and need are different things when it comes to buying gear though.

At the moment I use Markbass Club series cabs in their wedge position, sometimes with one kicked back on top of the other and whenever possible both next to each other.. They're more a cube design with one edge cut out and can be quite bulky though which is why I'm moving to a full range monitor.

Yeah I was thinking that if the QSC isn't enough for me and I need something bigger I might as well go all in, at the moment having something as small as the QSC is very appealing as I would have more placement options on stage.

I'm planning on going this route soon (like this month soon), is the QSC K10.2 definitely ok for a working player? I use a 5 string exclusively now. At the moment I'm using 2x Markbass Club 121 cabs, usually wedged so I can hear them. I'm 6'6" and on a cramped stage I have real issues with traditional cabs which is why a tiny full range wedge monitor appeals to me. I don't need masses of volume, in fact I prefer to not fill the stage with loads of deep bass. Our PA is a pair of RCF 735 cabs with a pair of matching subs (dunno what model, they've got the older ceramic magnet drivers though) so any purchase I make is strictly for a personal monitor, I like to be as quiet as possible as our stage volume is very low anyway. I've read the posts above which recommend the RCF cabs but I don't think I need this. The smaller size of the QSC is appealing to me as it means I'll have more positioning options and it also looks like it projects up at a much sharper angle which is a consideration for me as it means I can stand a little closer to my rig. Is there anywhere in Lancs I can compare these? I know they're a bit apples and oranges but if the QSC is loud and deep enough for me I'll get that.

The sound they make is down to them having a combination of a piezo pickup, bronze strings and frets. A fretless acoustic bass with nylon coated strings sounds closer to a double bass than anything else I've tried. When that bass had frets and those horrid bronze things it also sounded scratchy and zingy, now it has an excellent "woody" (cringeworthy adjective but can't think of another one) tone, you can also dig in closer to the neck without creating too much noise which is something you can't do with the bronze strings and piezo combination. Just swapping the strings for something more suitable will make the sound more appropriate for the body style, unfortunately this is something you can only hear after you've already shelled out on the bass and a new set of strings.

Your best bet is to try our a few and find one that sounds reasonably loud and deep. The better ones I've used in that regard (irrespective of price) have been various Washburns and my mate's Samick. Usually they come with bronze strings which sound bright and clanky when coupled with a piezo that doesn't cost the earth, for a more authentic acoustic tone try nylon coated strings, less volume though. I still use an old cheapo Ozark acoustic (I bought it almost 20 years ago in college ) which has been defretted and fitted with black nylons, it's a lovely sounding bass and sounds far more like a db than an electric fretless does despite what others on here will tell you. For anything other than accompanying a classical guitar you'll need amplification though, I've used a small JBL powered monitor, a little Hartke A70 combo and a mini bass rig (MarkBass/EA) over the years. Would probably just take a combo or monitor out of convience. Most people will tell you how useless acoustic basses are but I've played mine regularly in various situations for nearly two decades so if you have a need or use for one then satisfy your curiosity, there's worse things to spend your money on. Keep in mind if you want that "acoustic" sound then the fretless/nylon combo is probably the way to go.

I had the 5 string version, later ones had black hardware IIRC. Played well enough, body was bubinga I think, preamp was terrible though with that brittle tinny treble frequency all budget preamps had at the time. A cheapo Artec or something would improve it tenfold. Paid £50 for it and sold it on here for a similar amount #nocrook

Irrelevant, on pretty much every online trade group I'm a member of backdooring other people's deals is considered the lowest of the low, as bad as scammers and an instant ban if caught. Not the brightest idea to come on a bass forum marketplace and admit you try and scupper other people's bass purchases on the sly.

I have an empty BFM Omni 10.5 knocking around, not sure if the Delta is compatible, I know Deltalites and Basslites work well as that's what I've had in it previously. Great cab and pretty light though.

I'm looking to switch to a single compact multi effects unit, has to be small and the effects have to be good quality. Obviously this one caught my eye as it's tiny, however with it being a cheap plastic unit I'm a bit worried about the overall quality of the effects. So.... What's the compression like? At the moment I'm using an EBS Multicomp (blue and black true bypass version) and I like the sound of this - no noise, no loss of low end and sounds natural even at higher settings. How does the Zoom compare? What is the envelope filter like? Does it do that deep burpy sound (Now Do U Wanta Dance? style) or is it a bit anaemic? I've watched Dood's review of the X version on YouTube which was good but obviously tries to cover a lot of what the unit can do in a short video so there wasn't much focus on individual sounds. The only Zoom unit I've had before (a cheap thing with an expression pedal) sounded cheap and overly "digital", I would prefer something which sounds similar to using a standard pedal board setup without all the cables and power supplies. And also fits in my gigbag pocket. Also is there anything similar to this? I'm clueless with multi effects in case you hadn't guessed! Thanks in advance.

Gumtree and local Facebook groups are full of timewasters in every category, I've been let down several times from no-shows which is frustrating when you've set time aside for them. Nothing you can do, just move on. If you're feeling mischievous offer the seller full price then don't turn up to collect several times
