  1. Haha same, they're some of the better paying regular gigs we do. Playing sets in between bingo, open the box and Joe 90.
  2. Surely this is the problem of the guy you were paying to work on your bass?
  3. Even for the company I work for which only uses a handful of codes it can still be a ballache, especially when some countries decide they are no longer accepting certain codes and your shipment gets returned to you. We have to use a broker for things like that which is another expense, for small businesses choosing between more overheads or increased workload has no good side. We export a lot worldwide but we lost a lot of European trade straight away and what used to be a typically fast shipping process is now much more complex with every item having to be described down to its component parts, value etc.
  4. We do this with our guitarist, lovely lad but can't sing for toffee although he loves to try. Hope he isn't a member here.

  6. I'd chop the cab part off and use it as a head tbh, probably not worth throwing money at unless you really like the amp. I had the rat fur 15" version, never liked it but our family cat at the time (RIP Timmy) loved it - a giant scratching post and a comfy bed rolled into one! Never sounded as loud as it looked/weighed and was always struggling for clean volume at rehearsals/gigs.
  7. With Elixirs you're best buying from established music shops or dedicated string sites, not worth the faff trying to distinguish genuine from fakes on eBay/FB/Amazon etc as usually they aren't legit. I recently went back to them after a long time away, had a set on almost a year now and they still sound fresh.
  8. While this is the correct answer if I had to choose it would be the Hipshot due to the aforementioned easier string changes.
  9. Also if it's covers you'd have to take into account the amount of known predators in that genre that get a free pass from their mostly male fanbase, that might be a bit offputting and is something I'd consider. "We'd like you to song these songs by Steven Tyler, Pete Townshend, Ted Nugent, Anthony Keidis and Jimmy Page, do you think you cou....... wait a minute where did she go?"
  10. What sort of songs are you looking to play, is it dadrock covers, original modern, throwback pseudo 70s stuff etc? All but two of the bands I've been in have been female fronted, never really had any issues although I imagine if it's dadrock covers you may struggle. I wouldn't write off the ones who don't have much stage presence either, that's a skill they can develop - everybody has to start somewhere.
  11. That actually looks a lot better as you can eq individual channels, the A&H only had a basic 3 band eq for the entire mix. I did like the screen and overall size of the A&H though. Probably wouldn't be any quicker for me as I have a 10" Windows tablet running the full X-Air clamped to my bass stand with the screen always on so any adjustments are super fast, can imagine it would be much better than messing about with phones etc though.
  12. As a side note I did a midweek function on Tuesday where we used the A&H ME1 personal monitor setup, was all hardwired into the house PA and was extremely easy to use. Makes me think the Behringer equivalent would be a nice option for those who want mid set adjustments but don't want to use a phone or tablet or are a bit reluctant relying on an app. Can learn the interface in seconds.
  13. Was the same with us as me and the old guitarist used to do everything and when he left I explained that there was no band dad any more and they'd have to run their own cables, do line checks etc. There was no animosity in it, they just didn't see it as their job and also I suspect they'd been gigging so long and were a bit embarrassed to ask what everything did. Just used to having it all done for them.
  14. I sit our 12.5" tablet on its stand on top of the rack with our main mix clearly visible, all inputs and aux are named. Every cable on the XR18 is XLR so we just have the big Thomann cable bag (which is fantastic btw) full of different XLR cables. Still for a good few gigs I got the following questions: "Which cable do I use?" and "Where do I plug this into?" After multiple "They're all the same" and "It says on the screen" they just do it themselves now, it's brilliant.
  15. Unless you need a 5 then just use a 4 if you want, I had to move to a 5 ages ago and didn't really want to, was a necessity for me though due to the music we were playing. Same thing if you need the higher strings as well, use a 6 or whatever.
  16. This is the best way IMO, I've done a few PA shares where members leave and want buying out which can be a PITA. At the moment we have the big items owned by different members, only the XR18 is group bought between 5 of us so an easy buyout if someone leaves.
  17. I had one of these, very nice little boxes that make everything sound good! I think they were around £40 when I got mine though so prices have gone crazy, Maybe the Behringer version would be useful? https://www.thomann.de/gb/behringer_mic300_tube_ultragain.htm

  19. You can find the two models listed on eBay here btw: http://www.wolfguitars3.com/ https://image.ec21.com/company/w/wo/wol/wolf3/upimg/2012PDF_35.jpg https://image.ec21.com/company/w/wo/wol/wolf3/upimg/2012PDF_44.jpg
  20. Zombie thread revival! Mazeti are from KHL Guitars I think, a Korean OEM however they have outsourced production outside of Korea. The Mazeti branded instruments used to be all over eBay but it seems like there's a seller who still has some (possibly NOS) and is offering them at inflated prices. They were always budget but decent IIRC, nice woods but the market is crowded at that price point and depreciation will be considerable. KHL were also sold under the HK brand here for a while and also Wolf in the USA.
  21. Just had a look on FB, there was a very pretty 32" customer cancellation Boudica which was sold off for £1.6k recently, absolute steal. Seems to be catching up on orders at the moment so not taking on new builds for a bit.
  22. As an aside there's some interesting Wal style pickup development on the Iceni FB page.
  23. A lot of people still associated Flea with Musicman though even though he was only really pictured with his Modulus live basses during their heyday, if they had done a Stingray sig and later produced cheaper OLP and USA SUB versions in the mid to late 2000s they'd have sold a ton, especially the OLP. Modulus being an small operation won't have helped them either. A pal of mine bought one of the USA SUBs when they came out purely based being a Flea/RHCP even though he only listened to them from BSSM onwards.
  24. Don't worry it got me as well when I first got mine!
  25. We're quite lucky in that two of our band members are workmates and have the use of their work transit vans whenever they like so essentially we run a van at no cost and don't even have to worry about storing it. The vans are replaced every 3 years, must admit after a lifetime of using knackered old vans it felt weird shutting the rear door on them and it feeling/sounding like a car rather than that familiar clank. Had to open and shut it a few times to make sure! I have a Fiat Qubo which is basically like a downsized Berlingo VTR/XTR and has adaptable seating, can turn it into a van in seconds.
