I then turn up and go for a jam. The guitarist says I'm playing the "wrong" notes as I'm playing the D an octave higher up. I could go on about this but if they had told me they wanted someone who had a bass with only 1 string I would have said "no thanks." It's not about scores or whatever, it's about people saying one thing and doing another.
Some would argue that you can put your own stamp on the track, just in the correct register it was written in. I'm currently working through some songs for a band that have a heavy dropped tuning and lots of open string riffage, very similar to Tool but it evolves all the way through the song instead of being a fairly repetative unison riffage. Now I'm learning it note for note from the notation they supplied even down to playing the notes on the correct string for example their tuning is GCGCF and I'm riffing away around the 5th and 7th fret on the higher G string then suddenly I have to jump to low down on the lower C string then up to the 8th fret on the low G String, now I could redo this so my hand is in a pretty static position but it doesn't sound right using thinner strings for these particular notes. It may sound pedantic but it works for what they are doing and they are very tone concious. When I go to the audition I'm going to take my 8x10, 200w tube head, Overwater 5 string tuned GCGCF and my Rickenbacker 4003 Tuned CGCF now it maybe I end up retuning the Overwater to GDCGF as apparently they have songs in this tuning but so far I've not come across them. I will likely end up using a smaller cab in future but I've done my research and its very likely they are massively loud so I'm making sure I take the right tool for the job, I'll also be taking my Line 6 M13 with a bunch of FX I've preprogrammed up to suit their music but it will only be getting stepped on if they ask me to, i.e something is pointed out as missing to my sound. It sounds like your auditioning for the wrong things initially and secondly you aren't willing to just play what is required to get the job done, I mean are the songs you are learning for the audition the only songs they do? Will they never do anymore ever? What's to say if you like the people and like the music that you won't get to put your stamp on it in future writing sessions? When we auditioned 2 new guitarist both of them had to play the songs note for note, why? because they were the album tracks from the album we released in Japan, it is what it is and it's essentially set in stone. However since they've been in the band we've written the 2nd album and its massively different, much heavier. much more the direction we wanted to move in and they facilitated this in the music they brought to the band and neither of them were told what to play or were told to play things simply. Hope this helps

Bit of a tweak to make the pt jr more workable with the m13. Basically it sits in the loop and depending on the scene the loop moves. The boss expr can be used as an expr on the m13 or when just using the pt jr I just add a patch lead between it and the Prometheus and voila volume pedal. Signal chain is Bass - M13 - M13 Loop ( Kimbara/Shin Ei Wah - Fredric Effects Unpleasant Companion - Subdecay Proteus - Subdecay Tomato Fuzz - Mojohand 442 Red - Subdecay Prometheus) - Out of M13 in stereo - Left to amp passive input, right to Trace Elliot TVT9 Or at home into the different channels on the Dynacord MV15 I use for home practice, but basically all effects into a clean channel and a dirty channel at the same time. Some times I'll place a volume pedal before the dirt pre so I can blend it in and out of the signal. Having a lot of fun with this at the moment, got a lot of oddly placed dirts and mod effects.

Got this, along with 10 other fuzz pedals last month and it's just not for me. I'm open to trades but would prefer a sale. Used only for a few hours, no velcro comes with box, pouch and sticker. Here are some sound samples my friend did with this pedal A raunchy blues with the texture at minimum: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songI...;songID=9519723 A familar fuzz bassline with maximum texture: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songI...;songID=9519717 And with texture in the middle somewhere: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songI...;songID=9519725 And of course I like to try fuzzes with my bass wah: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songI...;songID=9519731 Cheapest you're going to get this is from Tone Factor at £105 not including any duties or you can buy my brand new one for £90 Cheers

So yeah my favourite octave pedal again I just can't keep single pedals I don't know why I've been so seduced by the dark side with the M13, I'm actually considering getting a second so to help fund it this has to go. Mint condition [s]with the box[/s] realised today it doesn't have a box, same as this one New this would be $317 plus any duties which is currently £202 plus your taxes Mine is available for [s]£180[/s] £160 shipped special delivery Here is some more info http://www.foxroxelectronics.com/Octron_Two_List.html
haha!! you'd be a rubbish sales man!
That Valenti due to being passed around a fair bit on the board or at least put up for sale has had the price hammered down so it's far more bass than the asking price, it's true I've tried to pick it up myself in the past and at the moment with the g/f in my ear about how ugly she thinks my Overwater's are I may very well be keeping it and gettting the pickups changed to Bulldogs as I originally planned. They are basically 2 prime examples of 2 totally different periods in Valenti's building practices, mine is Warmoth parts the other is USAGC or something which are the same people who allegedly supply Sadowsky.
that's about 2lbs heavies than my metro .. could possibly live with that! but there is another Valenti on sale now as well! too much choice!!
The other Valenti will be closer to your Sadowsky in shape mine is the more traditional chunky fender design. Also the red one is in better condition than mine, mainly as it just seems to get passed around For the money his is the better buy and just to be clear I won't be price matching I'm not Tesco's
wow .. oh, how I would love another bass! I have a Sadowsky MV4 and I would never just want another bass that sounded and performed the same, so the question would be, is there much difference between the 2?
Personally this is the best jazz bass I've tried full stop and that includes over the 2 USA Sadowsky's I've tried, however it is heavier than the USA Sadowsky's it's pretty much bang on 5kg's

Testing the water I've had this bass for quite a while and I'm the original owner, it's in good condition with a bit of buckle rash on the back. Basically as beautiful and great to play as it is, I'm just not a jazz bass guy, I'm not really a traditional bass guy at all. I just want to set my self up with 4 Overwaters and my Rickenbacker and be done. Stock Pics Specs: Full Sized Alder Body Maple Neck w/Pau Ferro Fretboard Inca Silver w/matching headstock Satin Finish on Neck White/Black/white pickguard Nordstrand NJ4 single coil pickups Aguilar OBP-1 2 band Preamp Hipshot HB-1 Tuning Keys Gotoh Quick Release Bridge w/Hipshot d-tuner Chrome Hardware Contoured heel for easier access to the upper frets Schaller Straplocks Additionally it is wired with a Vintage Tone Control that works in both active and passive mode (push pull on the tone for active and passive) and a series and parallel switch on the volume knob. So to sumise the controls are Master Vol (Push/Pull Series/Parallel), Blend (Wired in reverse like Sadowsky), Tone (Push/Pull Active/Passive), Stack Bass and Treble boost. It also has a fishman voltage doubler so the preamp is running on 18v from a single battery. Now I'm not desperate to sell, nor will I take a hit on my asking price and I may just replace the pickups (To custom bulldog pickups) to get a different vibe from it altogether. £800 Cheers
