1.
As I recall, his board is pretty damn big, I'll see if I can dig a picture out somewhere. '77 jazz bass --> boss tuner --> boss OC2 --> passive DI for discreet sub channel at FOH --> zvex wooly mammoth fuzz (or maybe a crowther prunes and custard... the ol' brain box is a bit fuzzy) --> moogerfooger mf101 (with an ancient EMU expression pedal from my Emulator II) --> cheap ibanez synth wah pedal --> really really cheap ibanez 'soundtank' flanger (that i found in a rehearsal space) --> Line6 DL4 delay modeler --> DI --> WalterWoods amphead --> whatever speaker cabinet is around --> RE20 (or another good mic) That's a quote straight from John Davis, bassist of Nerve, 11/1/2008. oc2>mammoth>orbit>noisebox>bugcrusher>moog>fatman That was his touring rig from 16/7/2009 OC-2 (Output splits to the key in on the Fatman) into Zvex Mammoth into Copilot Orbit into Subdecay Noise Box into Bugcrusher into Moog LPF (with Expr and Robot Factory Exp Modulator) into Fatman into 201 into Boss RV3/5? That was Tayste over on Talkbass, accurately describing his board at Namm 09. I looked around for about 20 minutes, but I couldn't find an actual photo of the board at any point, which was irritating. He has a fantastic tone, and if you look for him on Talkbass (username: JohnDavisNYC) then you could probably get more info straight from him. Zach
Here is an interview I did with John Davis http://www.tonefactor.com/blog/2010/07/22/...davis-of-nerve/ Plenty of pics and info on his gear

4. Free to anyone who wants it before monday then its going in the recycling. I'm based in Stockport Cheers
5. I got mine this weekend when I bought an Ipad, I downloaded the Free version and then bought the Bass Amp, it was 40% off I don't know whether that is when you first get it or just this week but it was like £1.50 for the Head and 1x15 cab. Personally I love the sound of it for home practice, would I gig it NO, would I use it in the studio NO, will I have it on the road with me everytime I go anywhere with my band, HELL YEAH. It just makes practicing easy no messing around with loads of cables and needing a power supply. I've had a Korg PX3b and PX4b and neither sounded as good as this, I find it's comparable when using headphones to my Bass Pod XT which I've now sold. If you have an Ipad or Iphone it's well worth investing in, but just get the free version and buy the Bass Amp.
6. Seriously final bump then it's withdrawn
7. How about offers miles away from the asking price
8. Man you don't have to sell all that just to get my Nintendo DS

10. I'll take this Doug Wimbish - Trippy notes for bass - £5 Let me know where to send the money Cheers
11. My Trace TVT9 has about the most tubes you'll get in a preamp, loads of warmth and ever gain sound imaginable
12. Yeah I need to bring everything down and have it setup the new old one is putting them to shame.
13. Wish I'd have played it on Bass Day but I'm sticking with my if you don't touch another Overwater you won't buy another Overwater rule
14.
Yep, that's absolutely fair It is always difficult to know how techie to be. Using decibels rather than watts is better because it allows for the efficiency of the speaker but this still doesn't allow for the difference in sensitivity to different frequencies. I've tried to deal with these issues in my article a bit. Each EL34 will dissipate 50W and depending on the exact circuit details and bias settings you will get more than 120W. The limit is the transformers which will warm up and limit the power if you crank up for long periods. Hence the 120W rating, I guess. It is 40 years nearly since I took one of these babies apart however so take everything I say in that light. I think it will be loud enough and if it isn't you need to look at your speakers. My worry would be about reliability and the availability of spares. How old is this amp and how much will it cost?
It's always going to be an amp you can repair due to the way its made but it depends if you have a good tech in your area and what he charges and how often you want to see him.
15. I believe the SFX Bass Fuzz is based on the coloursound and I don't think you'll get any smaller than that
16. As soon as I source some freakin red basketweave I can get mine done
17. I'd buy the Matamp 6x10 that thing is hella loud for very little scratch. Also with 6 el34's that sound city is going to be closer to 150w, it should be very loud and also you're in a band where you are able to crank it to get it pretty gritty sounding without it sounding out of place.
18. Get another 4x10 and I'd say you can do it, or ditch it for the 2x15 mesa cab for sale and the 1x15 and 1x10 mesa cab
19. Straight trade for your ashdown lb
20. so you buyz dis den?
