  1. For the next few hours at least
  2. Interesting little fly rig, has boost/comp, bass amp, chorus and a tuner. it also has an Aux in and Headphone out along with an XLR. So everything you need really. I have the box and power supply, never been used at a gig, just tested in the studio out of curiousity.

  3. Had an idea, didn’t go to plan, just using my phone and bluetooth instead. No box but has the manual, velcro on the bottom in very good condition.
  4. So mine arrived from @fretmeister the other day and I’ve played through it quite a bit. I think it’s very different from the beta. I don’t think I’d easily be able to get one to sound like the other. Overall with all the gigs, studio and buying and selling of gear I’ve done the past few weeks I’m a bit fatigued. Off the bat it’s a very nice pedal, I was able to dial in what I’d consider a very amp like tone very quickly. Running the gain from 9 o clock or lower is really pleasing. At higher gain settings it feels far more like an always on preamp than an on/off overdrive. I got some fabulous sounds running it into a 6x10 ir. So currently, I don’t know where this sits in my setup. It’s doesn’t stack particularly nicely with the mk1, but the cream pie makes either of them sound phenomenal as does the element with the right ir/eq settings but it’s all rauchier than how I’m running my main rig with the punchline. Between the punchline and the element, I don’t know when I’d use it, vs the combo of the cream pie and mk1 just works great slamming either of them as if they were an amp. Its definitely nicer out of the box than the quad cortex though 😅
  5. Seems we’re going to find out.
  6. That’s very interesting, as I’m also into it as very very low gain drive. I’m in the process of getting a second Mojo Hand Cream Pie which does the same thing but is even lower gain and fattens up the tone a bit more pleasantly (to my ear). It was specifically the lpf and body controls that interested me on these V (not to mention the top mounted jacks for tighter spacing on a board). Thank you for the info, very useful indeed.
  7. Nope, signal is mirrored on both sides. Basically I’m using a Darkglass Element as a 2 ch mixer, using an XLR to 3.5mm TRS, bass is through the device normally. Last gig this gave me bass in both ears, but the feed from the desk in one ear.
  8. This was enough I’ve ordered a B-Stock from Amazon for £124 If I don’t like it I can return it, but the live changes on the app are enough to sway me. Just in the process of sending the Quad Cortex back, not that I’m directly comparing them but if the QC was £400 for example I’d be happy to keep it but at £1450 it’s held to a very high standard for me. So at £124 the Tonex only has to be ok and occasionally useful for me. I’m in the studio Tuesday so can capture my JHS Punchline and they’ve also been Tonexing things for the past few years.
  9. Thought I’d post here as it’s IEM related (for me) Does anyone know of a cable or ideally a little box that is a combi trs/xlr in and then out to a 3.5mm (can be 1/4 inch as this is easy to convert down) but has a switch for stereo/mono but the mono is dual mono. Basically I’m having issues going from mono xlr to 3.5mm trs, maybe I just need to order some custom cables that jumper something in the xlr so it’s on both sides of the trs. 🤷‍♂️ any advice would be appreciated. Separately I’ve ordered some Cosmic Ears C8A’s since I’ve been on IEMS pretty exclusively for the last 10 years and mostly using KZ10s.
  10. This has recently piqued my interest if anyone wants to sell or lend me one 😅😇 I got a mk1 Beta and love it, even or maybe be because of the baked in lows.
  11. Sent you a whatsapp on the Element 😇
  12. This. I just don’t think it’s for me, shame, great interface, on to the next tone journey.
  13. You can hear it here: I suggest jumping in 15 mins in. So this is same noise but across USB and being recorded into the DAW (unless I’m mistaken) If I use my Darkglass Element it’s fine, but it also sounds better if I use my pedals in front of it and bypass the whole unit. Again still working through it and trying grounding options but that doesn’t sound like grounding noise to me. I also don’t think it’s that widely reported as I don’t think many people use the headphones out on it, also, sure live I wouldn’t notice it but that’s not my main use case. So, so far I’m really disappointed and not just because of this noise floor.
  14. I’m going to have a deeper play when I get in but it doesn’t seem connected to any IO levels. The unit has this noise regardless of output volume, or if anything is plugged in. I can even hear ground noise disappear when I touch my bass but this persists. Also doesn’t do it out of the other outputs. But I’m going to try sending some of the other outputs to grounded devices and see if that helps. Just my main use case is this on its own with a bass and headphones, so the first hour with it has been a little disappointing. I can use it with my element no issue but I really wanted an all in one do anything device. Captures of the SGFX Beta, Mojo Hand Cream Pie and JHS Punchline will be available soon so it’s not all bad news
  15. But octave and fuzz The main thing of these the preamp just sounds better on the Sonicake. It’s not a terrible unit by any stretch just I’d recommend the Sonicake over it at this price point
  16. Mine arrived today, can I check do any of you guys get noise on the headphone out? I’m getting an off putting amount of noise and it seems to be relatively common. Using the stock power supply but with the volume turned down and the input unplugged it noise is still there, so it’s just in the unit itself. I can get round by using my Element or using another output and having it in mono, but kinda defeats a lot of the purpose for me.
  17. Real short review, if you’re shopping for a unit like this buy the Sonicake Boom Ave instead. It’s much better sounding. If you’re buying it as a headphone amp buy a Boss Katana Go. Else buy mine as it will be for sale cheap shortly.
  18. Had everything out last night, basically main and backup covering the same ground. I should have bought the Beta a long time ago.
  19. I have to say after playing with my new Darkglass Element the past few days I’m loving IR’s, they drastically improve the sound of drive pedals, particularly fuzz’s and they offer enough of an eq/sound change that I don’t feel the need for additional eq. Was in the studio yesterday and took the opportunity to capture an IR of my JHS Punchline. The Element is just a great tool, I tested it bypassed against my Countryman and I couldn’t hear a difference so as a DI, IEM Mixer, Headphone Amp with Bluetooth, IR Loader with an amp sim, Audio interface it’s just great and so useful….. as long as it’s always supported in the app, if the app ever stops working you’ll never be able to change a thing again.
  20. For context
  21. It’s been a busy evening
  22. To get into the nitty gritty on the top I’d have a dirty boost into a one control patch bay mounted underneath (with a cable in the loop) out to my jhs punchline. Have a Cioks 4 under it and it’s a tidy all in one. Likely have to add something to raise it slightly off the ground and not stick out far enough when mounted on the small board. Then I’d have roughly a jr (8pedals) on the base board. Have something like a DC5 or 7 and one of the cables can go up and power the cioks 4. My issue is I don’t know what would do with the space for 8 pedals on the bottom 😂
  23. Yeah, exactly. Sure it’s expensive for a pedalboard but it’s cheaper and lighter than a Schmidt. Also love the video where they checked it in just in the bag for a flight. i actually thought because the top riser is removable that I could run that as a nano I can then clip into a larger board. Sure it’ll probably scratch some stages but they aren’t my stages so 🤷🏻‍♂️
  24. Have to say at first glance I’m pretty sold on a small.
  25. Boost is one of my most used effects (not that I’m running the fishman currently) but one option for you is to use it to volume match 2 instruments when switching.
