The AD200 is less than half the power and best price I could see online was £1300...
True not a direct comparision but neither is the Ampeg as that's only meant to be 300w. I'm just thinking if we go off the old 3db rule then I doubt there is much you can do with 8 KT88's that you can't do with 4 but I'd like to be proven wrong. I had a Trace V6 and the GT200 was louder than it. But will be interesting to see when these are actually out. I suspect very few shops will be carrying 2k all tube bass amps for us to try.
2.
I dont think thats too bad actually for what it is especially when you compare to vietnamise/chinese Ampegs and the likes...
Expensive when compared to Orange and Matamp though, about the same as the "RRP" on the 400+ though you know when you could still buy them.
3.
Ah, if you're in a hurry you're best off going with Dr. Bass.
I don't know if I trust people of the medical profession building my cabs
4.
You bought a Loud cab?
I bought several, guy says they will be ready before Christmas but his shed roof has had a leak so he hasn't finished them yet
5.
Don't see why its a shame its just a fact. I've tried the Compact and i am happy to pay the extra £150 for my Bergantino. A much better cab IMO
See I tried the Compact and was happy to save £100 and still get a much better cab Don't interpret this as I bought a compact because it's better than a berg, I bought something cheaper than the compact that is better than the compact and I'll venture the Berg
6. I just ordered 2 sets of 6 string bass strings you know the older e to e sets I rang them up and they told me which they had in stock and recommended which models of the strings would suit the bass I'm getting Also great that you can buy with paypal allowing you to get rid of those pesky pennies people send you when buying stuff off here
7.
1) Dean stylist
Very cool bass especially if you get the cabbie one, obviously not for everyone but if your going to get a hollowbody it should be a bit pimp
8. I have a Darkstar'd Dearmond Starfire and it is one of my favourite basses, however I have had 3 Starfires and they are all slightly different, I kept the one with the best feel and playability and sold a better acoustic sounding one. But either way good basses, I have always fancied a Jack Casady though. Some people on the forum have let some cheap 60's and 70's lesser known brand hollowbodies go for under £200. Sometimes the best hollowbodies are the cheaper not so well built ones, it depends if you want that cardboardy thud or if you want it to sound like a normal bass
9. I'd like to find a double shortscale bass bag or a long double guitar bag as my starfire doesn't fit in my incase dubag and I have like 4 shortscales now
10. No it's a resistor grid so limits the signal going to the preamp or from the preamp
11. I always felt like GK would be the anti me tone but recently I was jamming through an MB150 at my techs and its a very nice amp much better than I remember when I tried one 5 or so years ago. I also did an American tour with a 1001 and an Ampeg Fridge, now granted I used a Sansamp with it for the grit but, it was loud, punchy and very reliable . I think when an MB150 pops up cheap second hand I'll pick one up as I have nothing that can be carried in one hand
12.
So where's this bass terror
^ you're getting lazy
13.
Wasn't that mine? Whatta cab!
Yeah it was GT200 is a great head and fairly well rounded, but being from what is essentially a custom shop can be voiced certain ways, for example Monz's as I'm sure he will explain is voiced to stay cleaner for longer and I've discussed a 6 position drive knob that does the first 4 of Monz's amp and then the last 2 of the "stock" GT200 Now just to be clear I don't own a GT200, I will but stupidly decided to decorate my flat throughout so can't really afford a 7th tube amp right now However me and Jeff are so sure I'll be getting one there is a GT200 red headcase waiting for me to buy the GT200 to go into it Umcoo can give a good description of the grind available as I hammered it when we were there collecting 2x12's. But they do stay clean fairly well particularly if set like Monz's but with the drive control you can get it grindy at bedroom levels or clean at stadium levels as people who were at Bassday will moan about I'd defo recommend trying one, even speaking to Jeff to see if he can direct you to someone down south with a GT200 that might be willing to let you try theirs. They also have that Green 2x15 as well as the 8x10 (fully loaded) knocking about upstairs and I'm only 25miles away from the Factory so if you're doing a drive from Kent I'm happy to let anyone try my cabs and I've got an 8x10, 4x10 and 2x12 But I can't stress the trying part of it, go to the factory, hear it, tell them what you think, what you want etc because they won't let anything leave the factory unless you are happy with it, however this is very difficult if you just order over the phone with no experience of one. Hope this helps
14. Mine is 30kg's Yes call Matamp on 0845 6444 606 ask for Jeff and tell him you are from Basschat and you've seen all these 2x12's floating around
15. As a habit I tend to keep what come off basses when I buy them so I have 3 packs of 4 strings, I know 1 is shortscale flats and 2 are normal stainless steel, they are all in a single envelope ready to go I just want like £2-£3 to cover postage and anyone can have them. Cheers
16. I have 2 actually a PA100mk1 and mk2, great amps actually one of my fav bass sounds is one of them and my 4x10, however I do like to run it full whack into an 8x10 not even remotely clean when doing that but sounds awesome. I lent Monz one of them while he got his GT200 built. Defo worth the expense of getting one up and running.
17. Give me an E Oh wait that's illegal
18. The cabs are mentioned in the cabs section But clearly from the website it's not kept all that up to date.
19. Yeah very much agreed
20.
'Tis Al Cisneros from many a doom/stoner band, so they tell me.
I mean the 2nd picture I know all about Al
21. Since someone else posted it No idea who this is but this is how the logo on my Matamp GT200 will look when I can afford it.
22. The normal 2x12 is about 30kg's this one however is closer to 40kg's
23. Pffft after practice, it could get scuffed by then. Roqsolid do covers for this cab, I need to get me one before next week
