  1. @Al Krow you are wrong actually, and I don’t really like the gear bingo that gets played, but........ Yep I have a 2x12, but the devil is in the detail which gets missed when blindly quoting either what someone has or has not and what specs are without thinking about application. I have a Hartke HD25 8” - absolutely fine PJB Bass Cub 2x5” and very nearly bought an extension cab for this to use this alone and get rid of the 2x12. PJB incidentally has one of the best DI’s you will ever use. The reason I didn’t had nothing to do with the 212 being ‘better’ it’s different, that’s it, so in truth you don’t really have all the info on my choices, but you know I research my gear properly before jumping in. But my only point is, there is no fixed right - each on its merits for the application, and quality of build and sound reproduction for what you want, which although aside from the original topic title is actually inherent as to the misunderstandings leading to the question being asked. Edit - typo’s changed to make sense!
  2. I don’t see VK or PJB going out of business anytime soon, so people are buying the excellent products they make. So many variables in this and not just cones, drivers, voicing, enclosures etc. It may be that you need the VK hammering out all 1200w juice from an amp to drive your sound without PA support. It may be that the tone from 5” drivers with less wattage mic’d through a PA gives the tone you want. As discussed here the draconian 1 size fits all is not right, within the ‘industry standard’ size you quite, there are dogs and golden eggs. I’d take a top quality 5 or 8 above a rank 10 or 12
  3. Are we willy waving spec sheets again? What does it actually matter? if he said it was 100 5” speakers in the same frequency range as you listed but 1 lbs or 1 kg heavier or lighter, what does it prove? Mr PJB and Mr VK are clever blokes that have given us products we can use to our taste. You both probably sound good with your respective gear
  4. And for those interested that are doing some dates in the UK later this year. Monster band
  5. Don’t worry - I have those covered too, or at least IMHO!
  6. Agreed Hipshot it retune one is 1 second, other one is about 10 easy as pie
  7. Used The Tyler, it’s a decent work around for a one cab solution, but will be slightly different to a dUg sound if that is what you are truly after, not in a bad way, just different. The key to that pedal is keeping a very strong and a clean low and folding in distortion or sound modulation into either of the FX loops at your choice. Easy small package for a dUg sound or typ sound is the excellent DP3X pedal which is very back friendly, then of course you have the dedicated 2 channel amps, Tech21 Landmark 300/600, the 1969, VT1000, or indeed dUg Ultrabass 1000. You can of course get a cheaper signal splitter to cleave off a signal and send it to the guitar cab. You have to remember that whilst it may seem counterintuitive dUg actually used to send the higher frequency signals to a bass cab. edited for typo’s - early morning typing before me cuppa!
  8. @Al Krow - cheers Tweeters and the like and those higher frequencies for me are in the category - ok it’s there i don’t think I would ever use them, but absolutely get yourself in the ball park
  9. Agreed - cross purpose arguing and so much more comes into and not just come size, but completely agree with what Bill says about pairing. Of course in this day, especially for smaller venues the kick drum volume battle can be averted with electronic kits
  10. Supertwin user here. It absolutely slays - as @Wolverinebass says, his cab is great too - very nice sounding. ST suits me VK suits him. At this level you are looking at an answer where one is right and the other is righter - just
  11. Synth is a broad topic, y’all are talking about octaves and fuzzes to achieve a synth type tone - certainly with the plasma you can get something very useable in the ball park and synth type tones
  12. Gamechanger Audio Plasma Pedal
  13. What hole size in mm do they fit please?
  14. You can get an Aygo in the pocket of my MC Hammer pants
  15. Agreed - but even on open battlefield, you are not looking for the left hook as much, and if a lefty slips a righty slash/hook then they are completely opened up to be gutted
  16. Well I got my double gig bag, amp and cab in my Toyota Aygo........... admittedly i had trouble getting in to drive it after
  17. It’s practically bombproof - strap it to the roof!
  18. I like this thread! Full on righty here, but never thought about the sliding scale until mentioned here, as in aspects of my job, the angle of attack is just better with the left, so I switch and just use it - not what I would call ambidextrous in anyway, but I must be on a scale. Interetsingly there is a pHD (I think) student and amateur boxer who has just championed a theory, not without merit, that left handedness in battle was beneficial and they were better fighters so that in evolutionary terms they had to prevail. He goes on to say that matching boxers across history etc. The southpaw more often than not comes out as a winner compared a righty. Best tennis players often lefty. Moving onto Gingers - technically a genetic mutation, has persisted not just because they are kissed by fire, but also despite burning in the sun, they use produce and use vitamin D more efficiently, hence it is beneficial.
  19. Even if you transport 1 bass, you can use the other compartment to keep all things like cables, amps, small mixer etc. It really is good
  20. Bargain absolute mutts nuttz of the bag world
  21. Can it be any coincidence @Al Krow picked not only the sampled version of the actual bass line, but a live performance using a backing track with no band to film and is focusing on just the singer....?
  22. This bass is super cool the seller is super cool too People needs to hope on the funky train and get on the bad foot with this
  23. @Dazed agreed - cost difference I eluded to was about man hours to produce. its like car colours - got a new car recently, went with stock red - didn’t care enough for an extra £500 for a different colour. I think he got the Ding
