1. I generally mosey on about 6pm since the the sunday jam starts at 3 and ends at 6
2. Yup ! We're going to crowd the place out
3.
There is an inevitable tradeoff for low action versus how hard the strings can be played without fouling.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/03w4ne7xjgso8kz/VIDEO0044.mp4?dl=0 Have to agree with the dog here. Looking at the vid above, you are really pounding that E string and the E is the worst of the 4 for the problems you are experiencing. You are going to have to raise the action, or play that E with a lighter touch. It definately sounds like fretboard / fret clatter
4. Metal aint my thang ped, so no, it wasnt me. When we played The Pit ( 2001/2002 cant remember exactly ) i was in a 3 piece Hendrixy / Blues / Rock outfit Didnt know you were a togger mate! I mainly stick to wildlife, but i occasionally stray into Architecture, People, and Landscapes Some landscapes in link http://photo-sharing.winsoftmagic.com/1/jkl4w8ho.htm
5. Yes ped, we played the The Pit when it was a venue. Once you had 10 people in there it was full up
6.
You are refering to Nathan "my feet hurt" Smith. I played with The Cads until about ten months ago.
Hah ..never heard that about Nathan. Is that cos he hops about when he's playing ?
7. FinnDave - i've just remembered the other Witney basser and think its Cacho - i'll see if i can find him as he may be up for a gathering
8. Look like a goer, if any other of the oxfordshire mob want to turn up
9. I havent been down to FL's for a few months now, so it must be time for a visit
10. Cant remember the other Cads members, but yup, Mick Crisp is the mouth harp guy, so must be the same band that Simon is in
11. If thats his band now, i dunno. He used to be the Cadillacs bassist but from what he told me, Dave sacked him Last time i saw big Simon playing was at Witney Feast and he was in band with Mick the ( brilliant ) mouth harpist
12. Big Simon usually, though there's been a few other individuals
13. Yes, i was referring to the other Dave, mr Mighty Cadillacs and Nathan is pretty handy too, though a tad manic. I like him though, he's a good bloke Yup, jammed with them too, though i usually spank the drums if i feel like jamming
14.
Welcome! I'm up in sunny Chipping Norton!
Good grief. Thats where our band rehearse. Well its Great Rollright to be precise but close enough for Jazz
15.
I often play at the blues jam at Fat Lils on the last Sunday of the month which organised by a bloke with the same name as me, which has led to some confusion. He's plays guitar, so if we can find a Dave Smith who plays drums, we'll have to try a 'The Dave Smiths' trio Didn't know they had jams on other Sundays though.
Yeah i know Dave and his son Oh i could be wrong about other sundays Dave. I think you maybe right about being once a month and not every Sunday Maybe we could descend on Fat Lils last sunday in April
16. There's another BC member on here from West Oxon too ( Witney, same as me ) but i cant remember his name. So with 3 of us from the same town, sounds like a meet at Fat Lils here would be a good place. Perhaps the Oxford Town and Didcot town members could trot along. They have a jam day every sunday from about 3 or 4 pm, but just meeting for a chat would be easier.
17. Evenin' from another Oxfordshirerian - if thats a word
18.
Well he's taken my deposit....
If only i could do a Kenneth Williams impersonation. I can only muster ' ooer matron '
19. Yup, made the mistake of playing in BOTB 16 years ago, that took 3 months of bands battling it out. The prize ? £ 200 worth of recording The battles were held at several pubs around the county - so many pubs landlords benefitted from all the extra punters wafting in, but none of the bands got a cent, natch. Add up how may non paying gigs this amounted to over the 3 months with 30 odd bands competing, then you realise its a mini scam conjured up by several pub landlords in cahoots with each other.
20. Oh , for the record. And me.. A Non sequitur (Latin for "it does not follow"), in formal logic, is an argument with a conclusion that does not follow from its premises.[sup][1][/sup] In a non sequitur, the conclusion could be either true or false (because there is a disconnection between the premise and the conclusion), but the argument nonetheless asserts the conclusion to be true, and is thus fallacious. All invalid arguments are special cases of non sequitur. The term has special applicability in law, having a formal legal definition. Many types of known non sequitur argument forms have been classified into many types of logical fallacies.
21. The bass itself doesnt give a hoot what you play on it, since its a bit of tree with some wires nailed on, and cannot speak Having said that, mine have occasionally spoke to me, if only to say " put me down, you talentless butt wart "
