However, since there's nothing stating MIJ on the headstock, I would hazard the guess that it is, in fact, Korean. In any case, £200 is way too much.
 2.
Any more news/views of the 6-stringers? I don't need another bass, but I could do with a half-decent basic guitar for my studio.
I got the red strat (if you'd like some photos I might get them up in a couple of days) It looks pretty good, the neck is very much straight, the fretwoks is good and the tuners are decent (still in tune after a few of hours of messing around). Can't really comment on the pickups since I played it through the bass pod (which sounds horrible, but I haven't picked up a guitar pod), but output seems good and the pots are OK (no scratching). All in all, a lot of guitar for £60!
 3.
Black basses you say? Hmm.... Here's my Kramer Baretta NT, and my Warwick Corvette $$. Both stunning to play, but feel and sound completely different.
The warwick is just beautiful. I'm not sure how much longer I can resist getting one just like it.
 4.
I bought an SX on here, maple neck, finish was like bright orange goo. I changed the neck and it's ok, but it's still not very exciting bass. The new ones you get from Rondo now have a different headstock, which a lot of people don't like. A radical alternative is BaCH, which avoids massive shipping and customs charges, and they make nice basses pretty cheap.
Not to diss BaCH basses, but some of the choices are pretty exotic and most of them weight a ton! Besides, they're not as cheap as they used to be.
 5.
So whats the Verdict of the guitars?? And whose gonna be the one to start the Sue Ryder porn thread?? Sounds a bit wrong that
That's what I'd like to know. Although it's not like it makes much of a difference now, since one's one the way anyway.
 6.
Ok, I have very positive first hand experience of SX basses: I bought one (a P) from here last year, put a MM neck and Schaller bridge on it, and then sold my US Precisions on the strength of it, it was that good (it's the one in my avatar pic). Then just before Xmas, I bought an SX P/J from Rondo in the States, transferred the MM neck and bridge, and it's also fantastic. Just used it in the studio for our new album, and it sounded like a good Precision should. No mods to the electrics for me (tho I have heard others have done so), just the neck and bridge, tho the neck was because I love maple, and adding a Schaller 3D is my favourite and first mod to anything - I've put them on more than just the SXs. For the money, and if you're inclined to mod, it's a no-brainer. IMHO, YMMV, etc, natch.
I did the same in a couple of years ago. The electronics were a bid dodgy, althought he pickups were OK, and the only reason I got rid of it is that the neck was a baseball bat and I'm very much into skinny necks. Very good value for money.
 7.
They don't ship abroad... I think i'll have to wait until they start popping up in the sales section... I would realy like a J but it seems they only do P's!
Yeah, been there. That sucks. (mas se quiseres mesmo um, eu não me importo de o receber aqui e enviar depois para as tuas bandas)

And since he got £275 once and £250 a couple of times afterwards, I'm curious to see how high reserve is this time around.
 9.
I managed a body and the initial shaping of a neck inc truss rod and never worked with wood before . Def If anyone is thinking of a mod project look through the build threads here and on other forums. I thought it was going to be beyond my abilities after giving it a go and doing a bit of practice on some scrap bits I was well chuffed. The only thing stopping me doing more is lack of grip and a spinning router bit aren't compatible. The TDPRI in the home depot is the best place I think to go to get the courage up.
That's nice to know. I've been toying with the idea of playing around with wood, but I don't really have any experience with anything that isn't a jigsaw or a radial saw. It might just be the push I need.
 10.
Get a cheap router of ebay and a top bearing bit. A bit of scrap for a template and DIY.
That sounds good in theory, but would it be feasible for someone who has never worked with a router before?
 11.
So I emailed about the guitar expressing an interest in this and a guy called Andy McDermott (ebay seller soundcity20) emailed back saying it was still available. I asked for more pictures and he sent me the pictures from the recently ended red sparkle precision which recently went on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1963-Fender-Precisio...d1#ht_590wt_910 haha.
Somehow, I can't say I'm surprised.
 12.
was delivered at 9:15 today! .... and I'm stil in work! Tony
You're having a fun evening
 13.
+1 Just email Graham and ask him if he's selling a precision. Easy!
+1 That would very easily sort the problem.
 14. Incredibly expensive basses with low quality pictures. And a colour combo that recently got released as a Squier. Not only that, but the guy's phrasing indicates he problably knows the value of this kind of instrument. I'd play it safe and let this one go.
Well, it may or may not be beneficial to the forum depending on what's being sold, on whether it's appropriately described, and on whether it's appropriately priced ... and in so far as anyone benefits the seller benefits too from a free ad and possibly a sale with no required commission. Anyway, I don't think anyone called the newbies evil, just a hint that there might be an element of freeloading in some cases.
You're discussing benefits to the forum users. I am not disputing whether prices are accurate or the people genuine. I am talking along the lines of exposure, ad revenue and potential new contributors. Just a hint? Come on, claims to ban the newbies from the marketplace are not exactly uncommon.
I'm not taking any sides here, I haven't read the whole thread, but if I can play devil's advocate for a moment... People coming here to sell great gear is also a boon to the players, enthusiasts and collectors who populate this forum, as the whole atmosphere of BassChat encourages much better communication between parties, and almost certainly better prices than eBay as a result. I must admit I signed up because I wanted to use the marketplace, but within a very short time I have got caught up with the whole great vibe of the community and will remain for as long as it survives. And with any inclusive community, whatever brings in new members and helps it thrive, is good... right? Like I said, though, this isn't my hard & fast opinion. This discussion is far more nuanced than that I know. But it's a side of it to bear in mind. Cheers, Stuee.
The fact that the evil newbies who join to sell are nothing if not beneficial to the forum is something that flies over many heads around these parts, I agree.
Sadly, it's not a personally-held conviction that I'm prepared to defend until the bitter end. Skank has already stated comments were based on a misperception. In any case, I can't find a setting behind the scenes that allows access to be restricted to particular forums based on post count or membership rank, just membership status, and I've been advised that creating a setting would be "complicated" by Prof. Phatmonkey. I feel like quoting a line from Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing", but regrettably I'm not that well read. Instead I'll just change the description on the Ebay links forum so its clearer what the purpose of the forum is.
Well, then, my mistake. Apparently, I was under the impression that you were interested in discussing the matter. Evidently, however, this was just an announcement. I'm sorry I'm not patting you in the back, but I disagree with the philosophy behind this move.
 19. Great looking bass and very very good price. The only reason I'm not jumping the gun is that I'm holding out for a Corvette $$. Have a bump anyway.
 20. That is quite a good point. I have come across a few Brazilian luthiers whose work appears excellent. Quite innovative, too. But without any references, how can one prevent the possibility of ending up with a (too expensive) lemon?
Not in the short term but in the long term it artificially inflates forum membership numbers and makes management of all accounts more time consuming.
Do you seriously feel that way? How difficult is a yearly clean up of accounts that are, say, haven't been active in a year and have less thant 5 posts attributed to them? I know it is not. So it'd take five man hours a year to purge the database. Does that sound too much? I would actually be quite surprised if more than 5% of the 12k members were in that situation. Much like skankdelvar, I find this restriction to be more potentially harmful than otherwise. I don't think you'll reap the potential benefits you expect to, but the scenario will, at best, be mixed. I've been seeing the forum get more and more restrictive as of late. I don't think that's the way you want to go, especially when it does not seem appalingly clear that it is needed.
 22. I bought some new toys from Ryan. Very happy with the result - very nice guy, and kept me informed all the way when the courier decided to be difficult and take almost 3 weeks to deliver the package. Big thumbs up from me!
 23. Bought a keyboard off Steavie. Great price, great communication, an easy deal all around. He's a very honest fella, who even shipped the item before receiving payment! Big thumbs up from me.
 24.
It looks original from the pic, and in good condition. The price looks very good, I'd buy it if I was local, and I already have one of them!
I've got a thing against natural finishes, or I'd have snatched it up myself. It's only about a 20 minute train ride away. Hope someone here ends up having a new toy.
