  1. Thanks @dannybuoy, appreciate it. Have a v1 tender octaver for the loop.
  2. Core sound is edge of breakup on a rumble 500 combo. Need a smooth grindy sound to level up from that (assuming B7K sim will hit that) then something to replace a Green Russian reissue muff for full on distortion, sounds like the muff emulation is comparable too on the HX.
  3. Didn't really say a great deal, other than the Odyssey as it is now will work well on bass, but the new version more specifically tailored for bass use. Can only assume a similar bracket to the guitar version. This is little dilemma I'm wrestling with. The plan is to get the HX first anyway and test before I delve into any further purchases. Thanks for the info.
  4. I've been researching a pedalboard overhaul to make way for an HX effects with an analogue drive to pair with it. Reached out to Hamstead as their new Odyssey pedal looks great (need something that works for bass and guitar), and they hinted at something very interesting to come in the next few weeks... Watch this space!
  5. Incoming new updated cioks power supplies have ALL 9v 660ma outputs. Surely 2 outputs combined with a doubler cable and 2.5mm adapter will be enough to power a HX Effects?
  6. Used one in the studio, amazing bit of kit. Nothing else springs to mind that can do that specific choral function you're after.
  7. I love the thing, had one on my board for nearly 10 years. I have 2 uses for it; light ambience using reverb+delay algo during quiet passages, but also on delay setting 3 as a glitch looper. Never struck me as losing any low end. Longer reverb/delay times can get a bit much. I have a Timeline as well, but could never kick the RV-3 off my board.
  8. I thought OVNI was no longer being updated in anyway? Has he changed his mind?
  9. @radiophonic digitech hardwire reverb (predecessor to the polara) also has a good reverse reverb and may be cheaper second hand, although no longer in production. The EHX cathedral has a reverse, and a hold switch with infinite reverb which is interesting. Take a look at the old blood noise endeavours dark star, has bit crush, and octave up reverb that works well on bass (i've owned one, brilliant but upgraded to strymon timeline). https://www.oldbloodnoise.com/pedals/dark-star
  10. apparently it's $199 in the US, £209 seems a bit rough in comparison.
  11. Still unclear as to whether thats seperate toneprints for each feature, or new combined ones.
  12. If they released an M5 style HX FX, I'd be in serious trouble.
  13. Was initially unsure about compressors. Educated myself, realised it would solve issues I had with my P-bass (even signal and more sustain wanted). Bought a Walrus Deep Six (blend control and internal voltage boost to 18v deciding factors). Plugged for 5 mins to test - issues immediately solved, but dynamics I need still present. More tweaking required, but instant pay-off.
  14. Ovnilab.com does reference the grit switch found on the previous (larger) version of the pigtronix bass comp and he wasn't a fan of the character of it compared to the one found on the 'guitar specific' (although still usable on bass) version. This put me off a bit, but considering how they made improvements previously based on his input I wouldn't be surprised if this has been tweaked as well. Fortunately I have drive options (EQD palisades and Green Russian Muff) so feature wasn't as important and justifying my impatience!
  15. No worries @Al Krow, I was going to wait and grab one too, but saw a Walrus Audio Deep Six for a good price online and pulled the trigger. When GAS strikes, there is no waiting...
  16. Pulled the trigger on a walrus deep six.
  17. Theres a new Pigtronix coming out around 1st March: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PhilosBMicro
  18. Any users out there? The has piqued my interest too.
  19. Appreciate the responses folks @jposega / @Jus Lukin, learning all the time!
  20. If I play almost always with a pick, am I stupid by looking at compressors?
  21. When Blackstar first arrived on the scene I had them down as the brand who might take over from Marshall, early all tube design amps. Then they went down a major digital rabbit hole. Probably makes sense for them to dip their toe into bass with a solid state platform first, maybe then we'll see a bassman clone/all tube design in the future if they feel the market would respond. Personally whilst these look promising I love the simplicity and aesthetic of the rumble, these don't induce too much GAS for me.
  22. As a rumble 500 combo user, these have familiar feature set, but expanded. Very interesting.
  23. fair play, I usually have my pre-amp gain at 11/12, maybe that's the answer! appreciate the suggestions folks, keep them coming.
