1. Elixers live quite long on my basses, and they only had to be replaced because of age. Never had a snapping Elixer! I'm trying out Galii on my Fender-P, and that gave a quite good sound. Really punchy and bright. I'm not sure if I'm keeping the Elixers on my Jazz, it seems to lack that typical jazz sound.
2. Brilliant! I always knew there was something about Trace-watts!
3. an absolutely stunning bass! I'd like to see some daylight pictures!
4. Oh thank you all this was a typical case of love @ first sight. I've got Elixer's on it right now, but I do want to change the strings to something more genuine 'Jazzbass'. Not sure what strings yet.
WOW,, thats so cool...You ever want to trade for a Fender USA 75 RI jazz you let me know..
I'm sorry, but that'll be a never I'm actually getting rid of my Fender, just to not-have-a-Fender
5. even though I'm not a sunburst lover (I prefer the more subtle tobacco-burst) this one is looking great. It looks vintage in the perfect way!
6. The sound coming out of this thing is huge. I didn't have an amp present to record properly so I did a straight line-in rec... turned out 'okay'ish Mind... I've only been playing for 5 years
7.
Beautiful Matt....Whats the switch? What are the specs, Where was it made?
The switch is for the active circuit. basically allowing the bass/treble cut/boost to be activated. When passive the treble pot sort-of works as a tone control. Body is a maple/alder sandwich body and (obviously) a 3-piece maple neck (bolt-on). The electronics (+pickups) are Van der End customs, with Schaller ultra-light tuners. It was built in 1994, and previously pink! The body was reshaped to get the pink paint of and decrease weight.
Yeh, that's niiice!! When you get a minute, could you add a full length shot? I don't think I'm drooling enough!! Cheers Steve
also: back of body:
8. thanks I don't want too fancy designs for my bassguitars, but the finish matters a lot though. I had to work really hard to spot where the different layers in the neck are.
9. Pity that I'm not looking for a 5-stringer those RD605's are great basses, owning a RD600 myself. Thanks for your advice people
10. I might have posted it earlier, though having taken some new ones, I'd just wanted to share
11. well, the 285 was for the versions without battering ofcourse, but also with inferior (at least in my opinion) pickups... I'll just keep it online I guess. If anyone knows someone who needs a decent rockbass with enough battering for not having to worry about gig damage...
12. Hey people bump, and for those reading: should I go lower with the price, since there has been no real interest in this so far... or would I be better of selling the electronics and 'get rid of' the body?
13. I'm really gassing for those old ibbies atm!
14.
Morgan is a monster, my old band played with his old band The Sensless Things many times. The first time I saw him play he just blew my away, loads of energy and great tone. He's doing alright for himself as Lilys M.D. Good on you mate.
According to his WIKI, Morgan is apart from musician, also the tour director of her tour! he's definately doing something good! I didn't like him too much as replacement of Wolstenholme (Muse), sort of a lack of energy when playing hysteria. He's great at the background, and deserves more credit than he gets edit: just figured you meant musical director with MD
15. Yup definately multi-instrumentalist Morgan look at the close-up of the bass at 2:00 minutes in womanizer, that might help you for determining which Status is it?
16. A trace cab, as it's probably built to withstand all the sand... also my Van der End jazzbass and I'll spend my time learning how to slap properly
17. it's more the feeling than the actual sound which I prefer. Plus the looks obviously; nothing wrong with a shiney maple neck
Lovely Van Der End!
Thanks! I'm the second (or third?) owner, and it's still in great shape. Only the nut needs replacing.
18. as we're posting different basses... mine's a mapleneck/jazz too and I have to say: I wouldn't go back to rosewood anytime soon!
19. The unfortunate time has come that this one's gotta go battered as seen on the pics but still a great rockbass! Approximately 15 years old, in my posession for 2 years now. As I'm buying some Ibanez's I GAS for, I can't keep this one. inside may look a mess, but that's the Aguilar OBP-1 pre-amp. It's fitted with Seymour Duncan antiquities. Can ship to UK, packed and wrapped for about 25 pounds. Hoping to get about £250-300 for this bass, but open for offers.
20. Sad story as I really like the sound of a P-Bass, but as stringrayfan mentioned it's hard to get it through a mix properly. Definately a good warning for a youngster like me, though I've always used ear-protection (Alpine in-ear plugs); not the best out there but sure does the job nicely. I really hope you can get some satisfactory sounds out of your jazzy!
21. those too but lakland 4 series say the same to me and I think it's not a bad thing, mind you this being one of my basses I'll never sell
22. Musicman Stingray - Flea, my choice of sound for aggressive slightly overdriven bass sounds. Status: graphite and leds Warwick - Wouldn't want to be seen playing it, for some reason. Wal - Rus Fender Precision - Great sound, rock music, plectrum Fender Jazz - All round bass, unoriginal, sexy when old with blocks and bindings Fender Telecaster - Telecasters <3! Yamaha - Okay basses, some great series, some sh*t series Ibanez - My personal favourite bass, you have to be lucky to get a good one sometimes Alembic - Horrible looks, great sound Lakland - They can't seem to make up their mind, are we going to do a musicman or jazzbass? Oh what the heck, we'll mix em! Bass Collection - First bass, lightweight, decent and trashable without breaking

Competence

realllly depends on the song. Some are very easy and learnable in 2 hours, some take me 2 years!
24. I would prefer the Yamaha myself, great basses those BBseries.
