I've noticed that plectrum catches the strings on upstroke when alternate picking today, particularly when muting. I've not practised much the last few months with getting married and all so this feels like a huge step back and a basic skill to lose! Anyone else had this?

@LouieMI didn't mean that it just plays the string, I meant that it gets caught under the sting. It's something I need to work on while muting, it keeps tripping me up.

Glad it's not just me @Soledad, thank you for the pointers! I think having not played in months (and even before that I was practising more guitar than bass) I probably was gripping the pick like my life depended on it. I always want to pick up and be exactly like I was, but without practise it does tend to go away so I was probably a bit anxious! I'll give these tips a try!

I was asked for the 10th time if my pedalboard was the guitarist's and I was just only tuning...

Expecting redundancy news today..... with real trepidation.....

Awful news, not a fun process to go through. Narrowly missed it myself recently, when the team I worked with was made redundant just after I'd been offered a new job elsewhere.
As others have said, depending what your job is it can lead to some amazing opportunities. Good luck with everything, at least today you'll know for sure.

It's such a small thing, but I really want to put black knobs on my VM 70's Jazz. The chromed ones are nice, but there's something about those black plastic ones!

Black ones with the line @Ricky 4000. Preferably with the smaller one on the tone control! Time to get on eBay 😄

Properly craving a short-scale at the moment. All it took was for me to pick one up at Northern Guitars in Leeds. Didn't even properly play it!

Popped a TC Spark Mini on my board so I can switch between a couple of basses with very different outputs without changing pedal settings. Perfect, super quiet, super transparent, sorted!

Just got 6 Easter eggs, 5 tubes of mini eggs and 3 boxes of creme eggs for 15 quid from my local Waitrose. Keep your eyes peeled

Hello? I'm very new to these things 😊

Taking the pickguard off my VM Jazz and was just thinking how nice it would be without one at all... then discover the big hole in the body underneath! 😆

@Cosmo Valdemar I genuinely thought all the routing would be under the surface! I do prefer having a PG on, but I'm glad I found out what's under there

When a Reverb seller, listed as a quick responder, hasn't answered my question in a week, should I assume they're on holiday, or otherwise absent?

Really bad GAS for a Peerless Retromatic Bass in Black!!!!!

Slightly unexpected NBD tomorrow. One way to break the January blues

Buying a decent strap is harder than I thought. Most of the 'big' sites don't specify the width or padding, and there's so much tacky branded garbage out there that it's a pain to filter through everything!

Puppy just back from the Vet after being spayed - firstly it was weird her not being here, now she's acting weird.
Would come as no surprise if aliens landing tonight..
