1. Dunc, welcome. You may be interested in the west midlands bass bash on the 27th Nov. Have a look at the thread in the Events forum, Nige
2.
+1 Tony's a great player. Always loved Big Country. He's one of those bassists who's got such a signature style and sound. One of those "do exactly what the song needs" players. Check the wholly appropriate bass solo at 4:34. That's the way to do it. Think I'm wearing my kilt at the gig on Saturday.... T
He's nicked my bass solo....................
3. Buy a drum machine and programme some simple beats into it. Great practice tool.
4. Protec Contego. Rigid sides, front and back, plenty of padding, good storage space and decent handles and shoulder straps. I like mine a lot too .
5. If you can find an Ibanez Phat-Hed PD7 pedal, I reckon you'll get a close sound to what you want.
6. Welcome from a fellow heavy lefty
7. How about this? http://www.aer-amps.info/images/stories/pdf_data/Flyer/AG8.pdf
8.
Looks like i've scored a major owngoal ! I can't make it - am away with the wife for the weekend, I even knew about it before suggesting the 27th but didn't think about it as it was so far ahead ! Sunday the 3rd Dec anyone ?!
eejit............
9. Used an EBS Drome combo last night at rehearsal last, as all the usual Ampeg/Ashdown stacks were all out on hire... and all i can say is, WOW!!! The sound quality and volume off this 1x12" combo was amazing. I was suprised to find out it was only 150w, but handled itself against two guitarists and a loud drummer admirably with no farting, wheezing etc. May have to invest
10.
Hi all I'll be there I'll bring My Shukers and Tecamp combo. Just one thing... the on road parking might fill up pretty fast, as thats the only parking for the busy rehearsal rooms next to the venue, so if you aren't familiar to the area, have a quick glance at a map and familiarise yourself to the sideroads around the venue to find some more parking... What a remarkably sensible post from me!
There'a also a car park opposite... not sre if it's paying on a sunday though
11. I had a Gherson jazz a few years ago. Really slim neck which i couldn't get on with, but the pickups were amazing. Weighed quite a bit as well!!

electra Bass

The pink holey Royal Electra was made for Pepsi Tate of Tigertailz. I think they had an endorsement, as the guitarist used the guitar version. Very nice quality instruments, very reminiscent of Jackson/Kramer.
13.
I should be coming along, although due to last-minute issues I haven't made the last Nottingham one or the Startford one so I'm reluctant to promise anything. I'll probably bring an Antoniotsai or two and maybe a Warwick and a Peavey.
Been reading over on TB about the Antoniotsai basses..... opinions are very divided over there Hopefully see you there.
14.
I think someonw was trying to rustle up a drummer? Is that still happening? It would be great to have a little jam if poss...
Ian Savage is bringing a kit down.
15.
Nige is cack handed .
Very true, but cheeky get!!!"
16.
Hi all, I've just joined the forum and looking forward to the event! Caerphilee
Welcome, see you there. You may want to send Machines a PM, so he can add you to the list. Let him know if you're bringing any equipment so he can list that as well. Also check the list to see what other people are bringing. Nige
17.
Don't know if anyone is following this thread anymore (least of all G30 users), but I have one coming and I'd like to use a different bass>transmitter cable (I favour right-angled jacks out of the bass). What's a comfortable cable length and I'll get an order in with our very own OBBM. Cheers Paul
Like you, i prefer right angled jacks. Depending on how high on the strap you'll wear the transmitter, i'd recommend 1m or so. The output socket on the transmitter is on the bottom of the G30 unit when worn on a strap.
18. Check with Phil, the inhouse amp tech at PMT in Brum. He's just repaired my Orange head. Good guy to deal with.
19. How about a small silver engraved plate with your initials inlaid at the twelth fret.
20. Thinking about a charity raffle if there's enough attendees. Got a couple of unused pedals i can chuck in Thoughts please.....
21. Hi, just a quickie. The West Mids Bass Bash has been confirmed for 27th November. Hopefully won't clash!!! Anyone interested from over there is welcome. Cheers, Nige
