1. Just found I can run the combo off my old laptop charger rated at 19v 3.42A and there is no noise ! The laptop transformer block has a three pin input so I guess its earthed. I had to first check the polarity of the power input plug (centre of plug is positive) to make sure I didnt reverse the power to the amp. I dont know if 19V is OK., so I'll email Synergy and ask. However, it's been on for 30 min now, no overheating, and its not gone bang......
2. Ive found solutions to this - see my postings in the technical and repairs section. http://basschat.co.u...passive-basses/
3.
Interesting, so they're saying that the induced noise picked up from your bass has no ground connection through the amp. Have you tried doing what they say and if so did it work?
Yes it did. I plugged the line out, into the input of another amp, and the buzz went almost completely.
4. Wow. Synergy distribution were really quick - they got back to me within 2 hours. Here's what they what they had to say : We can help you. These older basses do not have the screening that modern instruments have and a buzz can occur. Your observation about the 20v DC connector is very perceptive, and there are two ways to over come the buzz. 1, You could put a lead into the line out and plug into any device (mixer power amp etc), and as long as these are earthed the buzz should disappear . 2. We have an earthed PSU on the way for such instances. Its a lot bigger and more expensive than the one supplied (It will cost £25) They should arrive in August Considering these guys are simply the distributors, and not PJB themselves, I was extremely impressed with their response time. I emailed them at 8pm and they emailed me back at 10pm ! Ive never had a 2 hour response from any music company, especially at night ! The present PSU (power supply unit) they supply is very light, I guess in keeping with the amps extreme portability. However, if the new PSU provides the solution, I will be one happy bunny, as this little combo will be a crackin amp to take down the pub, for the acoustic sessions I play in. Ill try and remember to post any future experiences
5. No suggestions so far . Ill write to PJB and Synergy (UK distributors) , and hopefully post up a reply here for future purchasers.
6. Had the same whistle problem with a PJB Double four combo BG-75 . The wonderful guys from Bass Gear sorted it - it was 'known problem' - Im told Synergy replaced all their stock. Bass Gear replaced mine and its as quiet as a mouse** . Superb service. Thanks lads. ** Except with old passive basses ! See my thread in the Repairs section.
7. Apologies for cross posting from the amps section. I've tried three of these combos from new and they all have the same problem - with my older passive basses (75 Precision and 73 Ric) I get an earthing type buzz. The buzzing stops when I touch a machine head or the control panel of the amp ( I presume because I provide an alternative earth - somebody help me out here) and it seems to be related to how well the instrument is screened ( I wrapped the offending bass in aluminium foil and it reduced the noise) With more modern basses ( Ibanez SR800, Lakland 4401) the combo works great, and it's as silent as a mouse. This PJB combo runs on 20v DC, and the 'switching adaptor' transformer block supplied doesnt have an earth connection to a UK 3 pin mains plug. Dont know if this is the issue. Pity as otherwise its a crackin little combo, light as a feather, nice tone and with a more vintage sound than other PJB stuff I've tried. I'd love to use it with my older basses, but short of filling every cavity with copper tape, Im not sure how to do this. Can anyone recommend a solution ? COlin
8. Got one about 2 months ago. It arrived with a strange high pitched whistle, it was very low volume, but just enough to make you think you'd left a tap running somewhere in the house. The guys at Bass Gear ( very highly recommended) talked to PJB and sorted it. The whole unit was changed. Apparently it was a known problem and PJB have now modified the design. However, with my older passive bassesboth amps do/did have problems with noise . There is a earth type buzz which seems to be related to how well the instrument is screened. It stops when I touch a machine head or the control panel of the amp ( I presume because I provide an alternative earth - somebody help me out here) . The combo runs on 20v DC, and the 'switching adaptor' transformer block supplied doesnt have an earth connection to a UK 3 pin mains plug. Dont know if this is the issue. With more modern basses ( Ibanez SR800, Lakland 4401) it works great, and it's as silent as a mouse. But with my 75 Precision and 73 Ric the buzz is substantial.

11. Hi Johnnes. Welcome ! Could you provide a bit more description and details for us please ?. 12. Chris bought a cab which was to be shipped to Scotland. It was holiday period and the weather was disruptively atrocious Yet he made it an extremely easy transaction, by organising it all from his end. He proactively avoided pitfalls by being completely on the ball. A complete star.
13. +1 Folk here are interested in what you have for sale. The pics will provide us with a look at the actual bass you are selling. Looking forward to them.

15. Im selling a GK EV loaded 15 cab 400W , if you're interested and near Nottingham. See my thread in the for sale section http://basschat.co.uk/topic/224946-gallien-krueger-bass-cabinet-400w-ev-speaker-cab-115t/
16.
what a bargain......and with EV driver!!........that'll push some air!
Many thanks. I've just looked in the back...the speaker is an EVM 15B OEM....and its a 400W speaker, not 300W, so I have corrected the ad above
17. Gallien Krueger 115T cab in excellent condition. It's loaded with a 15" 400W EV speaker which makes it very full range and more articulate in my opinion, than the current GK paragons. It will hold it's own in an electric band with a drummer. I hung onto this cab for a long time because of the sound. Dimensions in cm are 40D x 57W x 63H and it weighs 59lb. So it's not the smallest cab compared with todays offerings, but neither is it the biggest or heaviest. Never sonically abused . It's in excellent condition and its been stored in a warm dry bedroom. A high quality cab for someone wanting an inexpensive, one speaker option to to take to their gig. Pickup from Nottingham, just down the road from M1 J25. 18. Gorgeous. I presume it's the oil finished neck rather than gloss ?
19. Paul bought an amp head from me. It was an easy smooth and pleasant transaction with excellent communication all round.
