  1. Yes, a very good Jazz Guitarist. And of course, his legendary 'Knack Bass' sound. Like I said earlier, he had an interesting (and productive) life. From Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladi_Geisler
  2. Double post... Christ...what's going on here. A colossal pilot error of a crash and burn on my part.
  3. Rare footage of him from 00:15 onwards. Judging by the terrible hair and large 'Bat' bow ties on show, probably from the 70's.
  4. Ladi Geisler was picking away on Bass Guitar as a session musician in Germany during the late 50's and onwards. He was originally a Jazz Guitarist (his is life was interesting to say the least). Many of us old Musical Dinosaurs could tell his style and trademark 'Bass' sound from a hundred paces....
  5. Just to let you know that there is now a 50% discount on the two VST's that I mentioned. The sale ends on November the 10th. 👍 https://www.native-instruments.com/en/specials/komplete/e-instruments-offer-2021/#c968369
  6. It might be worth watching the onsite videos for this one. A free Piano to start you off...and very good it is. Basically, 8DIO now have their own (free) Sample player. The libraries are keenly priced as well https://soundpaint.com/
  7. A freebie from Native Instruments. For both the free and full version of Kontakt. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/play-series/twenty-five/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=free_25_play_series EDIT: Just downloaded and had a whiz through...it's very good indeed with quite a selection of sounds. 👍
  8. VST Plugin wise, NI Session Horns is a good bet for Pop/Jazz/Soul etc if you don't want too spend to much. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/cinematic/session-horns/ The Pro version is quite a bit more but, a load more Instruments and articulations. https://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/komplete/cinematic/session-horns-pro/
  9. 8DIO have a a 55% off everything sale. Full version of Kontakt needed for these libraries https://8dio.com/?gclid=CjwKCAjw5c6LBhBdEiwAP9ejG6--l8jHol6YEqgzO4sKrujW2UQizoO0ChsTW2KQpIC6XiJAXGpWGBoCfWIQAvD_BwE A good bunch of free stuff from them as well under the 'Free' tab at the top of the page.
  10. I think Martin Scorsese knew what he was doing with this one...
  11. Plus...You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling' , it got another lease of life after 'Top Gun'. Especially when it appeared again during the memorable end scene.
  12. I know Dylan wrote this tune specifically for the scene/soundtrack in the film, but it wasn't released as a single until a couple of months after the film release. Not my favourite version, I prefer the Eric Clapton, Dave Sanborn and Randy Crawford's version used on the Lethal Weapon 2 film score/soundtrack.. But it certainly hits the spot.
  13. This is bundled with a lot of very usable software...plus, the NI keyboard(s) are great to play. https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Native-Instruments-Komplete-Kontrol-A49/2NU7?origin=product-ads&gclid=Cj0KCQjwtrSLBhCLARIsACh6RmgWqDVs1H3vucFOkMus-yA7TMhLxFHNvrb3pTl_jxBHhKmQe2LU_8saAgjbEALw_wcB There are a couple of free DAW's out there. Cakewalk/Sonar springs to mind...I think Reaper has a reasonably priced license fee. When you start on this journey you will need an Audio/Midi interface.
  14. The Piano Book has had a revamp and some additions. https://www.pianobook.co.uk/
  15. I listened to this live gig all the way through last night. Top playing all round. Valeriy Stepanov and his terrific band. WARNING : It's very groovy fusion...!!
  16. Dizzy Gillespie and Lalo Schifrin... This album is typical 70's TV Cop style arrangements. A great line up including some great Bass grooves from Wilton Felder. Dizzy Gillespie - trumpet.... Lalo Schifrin - keyboards, arranger, conductor.... Oscar Brashear, Jack H. Laubach - trumpet.... Lew McCreary - trombone.... Jerome Richardson - flute.... Ernie Watts - saxophone.... James Horn - saxophone, flute.... Sonny Burke - piano, electric piano.... Charles E. Spangler - synthesizer.... Ray Parker Jr., Lee Ritenour, Wah Wah Watson - guitar.... Wilton Felder - bass.... Ed Greene - drums.... Paulinho Da Costa - percussion....
  17. Over the weekend I noticed Steve Gadd, Anthony Jackson and Richard Tee were part of the band backing a couple of singers on an open air gig. It's up on iPlayer. BBC iPlayer - Simon & Garfunkel: Concert in Central Park
  18. Me and my oldest each have one of these below (Anda Seat). The reviews are good and quite rightly so. We both love ours. £200 from Argos. Probably cheaper elsewhere. https://www.andaseat.com/uk/products/andaseat-jungle-series-premium-gaming-chair
  19. Pretty rare live footage of Mingus in action...
  20. I know there are keys in this tune but, it works great as a Guitar Trio blow.
