  1. I have and used Scala since it's beginning. I think it's an amazing piece of musical software. It's has a lot of very deep functionality and it's worth checking out the various YouTube tutorials knocking about.
  2. This just popped up on my Facebook timeline. Dave, miming away like a trooper with his Burns Bass: 🤣
  3. You certainly have the 'Knack' for spotting good Basslines.
  4. If that was aimed at me - My post was in jest. Hence...'Joking aside' and

  6. Here you go. You will have to transpose it down a tone - It's the Bb Trumpet part.
  7. For some of us older gits who stumble into Basschat, Mo Foster has a few good stories to tell. Anthony Jackson. Abe Laboriel.
  8. A great tune and both versions hit the spot with me. Earl Klugh's version has Louis Johnson on Bass, Steve Gadd on Kit and of course, Dave Grusin's lovely subtle string arrangement.
  9. I was only jesting... It was more a tilt at the thread or post @ambient started last year and his dads Power Drill (or other tools from his shed). Which I can't seem to find....honest, M'lud.
  10. I would keep the the Precision, get my hammer and chisel out, and drop a Jazz Bass pup in near the bridge....sorted. 🤣
  11. For those who have been collecting the excellent, free 'Heavyocity' Libraries. There is a new offering - 'Emotive Choir'. Heavyocity Emotive Choir
  12. Tom Scott - APPLE JUICE: Tom Scott - Saxes and Lyricon Eric Gale - Electric and Acoutic Guitar Hugh McCracken - Electric Guitar Marcus Miller - Bass Richard Tee - Keyboards Ralph MacDonald - Percussion Steve Gadd - Drums Dr.John - Vocal on "So White and Funky" (1981 CBS)
  13. I've worked in Newcastle on various shows over the years and have always had a great time there. The people are great and I still have a few Geordie musician friends to this day. In London, back in the 80's, my flatmate was a Guitarist (from the Byker area) and he had studied music at CAT before moving down to London. I used to travel up there quite a lot with him for social shenanigans. Rockshots (Formerly Scamps, I think) and The Broken Doll were two of my favourite haunts. Christ, they were right old places...🤣 I have nothing but great memories of the place. Particularly a certain mad, Geordie vocalist girlfriend, I was with during that period.
  14. Keep On Stepping' is another good 'In The Pocket' track that he played on. There is a transcription and YouTube audio in the link below: https://basslessons.be/transcriptions.php?i=424 The bands Website: http://www.fatbackband.com/johnnyflippen.html
  15. If anyone is interested, the Bassist with the Fatback Band back then was, 'Johnny Flippen'. He could certainly groove a bit.
  16. How many times a day do you do this, Chris? Is it an OCD thing or is it some kind of stress reliever?
  17. I've always liked Marcus' playing since I first heard him on the Lenny white and Dave Grusin albums back in the late 70's/early 80's. I find him to be be very musical and a top, top groover. He's a good writer and arranger as well with an excellent knowledge of what other Instruments are all about. Scott did great, he asked a lot of questions some (many) of us always wanted to know over the years. Marcus was very honest and humble with his replies. He cleared up a couple of things as well. Enjoyed the video and thanks for posting the link, BB5.
  18. Nah, it's not free Jazz. It's defiantly 4/4 with bar lines.
  19. The middle sounds like F F# G on the Bass? That original video (Reggaebass posted) sounds sharp as well which doesn't help when transcribing. This video below is better you can hear the verse riff easier as well over the D minor.
  20. I was waiting for the Key change, but there wasn't one. So, it must be 'new' music. **
