The bloke I got it from does all sorts, Jazz, P bass, guitar necks etc. Name on eBay is Jinwan_1 Just be prepared for a long wait for it to be delivered. He said It usually takes 15 to 20 days but with the covid problem stuff is sitting in warehouses waiting to be shipped for a lot longer than usual. Around 60 days to the UK.

It's a little different to a standard fender or squier headstock. The lump at the bottom where the logo sits is a little bit longer.

Couldn't get on with the width of the neck on my PB50 so thought I'd take a chance on a cheapo Chinese neck off eBay for £55 inc shipping. Took 3 months to arrive because of Covid but I was well Impressed with the quality. Binding Is perfect, frets are all level, truss rod works fine and the block inlays are perfect too. The big plus is that it's 38mm at the nut, the profile at the back is the same as a classic 70's jazz (baseball bat). It even came with a fender logo (I didn't ask for it & It wasn't on the one in the ad) which will be removed. Fitted straight onto the PB50 with no problems, tuners off the harley neck also fitted on without aggro. The neck is darker than It looks in the pic. So If you're prepared for a 3 month wait a cheapo neck can work.

Just picked this up from a local chap for a decent price. Got the best Feel, action and neck I've ever played on a Jazz. Had sooo many jazzes and I could never get the action the way I like it, even on USA ones, but this one dialed In straight away. It's just a MIM jazz from 2007 but you can always tell when you find a good one. Always play before you buy. It's a keeper.

Steamed in to the last fret with a fret file and bosh! No buzz. One to watch out for folks.
-
Hardly any gap between strings and fretboard in the middle of the neck When clamping down at the 1st fret and 17th so the neck is flat.
-
I'll recheck, maybe I have the truss rod too tight...

Howdo Folks... My Jazz Bass has a lot of buzzing and dead notes from the 15th fret up to about the 19th, I like a really low action which i have the the rest of the neck but past the 12th i can't get it lower without the buzzing and dead notes. I've checked all the frets from the 12th to the 20th with a fret level edge and have no high frets, There Is no shim under the neck in the pocket. I can raise the saddles to get rid of the buzz but that defeats the low action above the 12th. Could the last fret be too high? Cheers for any advice.

Fender Custom Shop Phil Lynott P Bass - mental price

Just daft. -
Yeh, Bigger CTS pots and a different capacitor.
-
Put decent pots and capacitor in and the pickups sounded OK after that so no need to change them.
-
I've got a 77VM and It's a cracking bass, Changed all the wiring and didn't need to change pickups after that. Plenty of ooommpff. Really light weight too. Fantastic neck. My go to bass.

Vintage modified squire, “best bang for buck?”

I've got a VM 77 jazz in Amber and It's a killer bass, I upgraded all the pots to CTS and loom/capacitor. Left the pickups cos with the new loom they sound great. Body Is soft maple and is proper light which suits me. It honestly plays/feels better than my 80's deluxe Fender jazz. Only stinky poo parts are the tuners. I got It for silly money and It's the best money I've spent on a jazz. My go to bass at the moment. -

I've stuck a new loom In it with CTS pots and a bone nut. It really plays well and weighs under 8lb! The pickups with the new loom seem fine to me. Tuners I hate so will change them. Deffo keeper for me.
