The Gibson DC Junior Bass in ebony is in stock at Thomman for £795 and they now send it to the U.K. duty paid and free postage. Can’t go wrong with a US made Bass at that price. Reviews are excellent.

Buying 2nd hand anything is a risk. Has a car been in a smash and put back together again? Does an amp have an electrical fault? Is a guitar pieced together from several? Well that was the claim about Eric Clapton’s Blackie, a Strat made from bits of Strats he liked. I don’t suppose that the fact that it’s a bitsa has affected the value of that one! 🎸 as has been said if it looks and plays ok and seems to be a reliable source then it probably is ok. If you buy with a credit card and it’s a rogue when you get it, you have some redress if the seller is reluctant to put matters right.

That looks a great bass. I think Korea still produces some of the best quality instruments around, my Peerless and Spector are prime examples of very well made basses.

You are absolutely right, if they weren’t there, it’s up to them to say when they are. They sound like a right bunch of amateurs looking for a reason not to refund. I hope you bought it on a credit card.

Hideous headstock spoiling an otherwise quite conventional Jazz. I don’t think having extra dot inlays justifies the rather high price. He may sell enough in Japan but otherwise I’m afraid he’s likely to bomb. It’s one thing to be the top luthier with a well known brand but quite another to survive on your own in an already over crowded marketplace.
