I was like you, years and years of bass guitar playing including fretless but finally took the plunge and got a second hand NS NXT. Despite what members here have said about it being a glorified bass guitar, the reaction I have so far on its outings is very favourable. It certainly doesn’t feel like a bass guitar, the 41” scale is challenging, but it does have discreet dot markers in the note positions which certainly helps to ensure your in tune and not floundering around on a totally bare board.

I’ve got a RokSak gig bag that fits well. As to strings I’ve got La Bella Deep Talking on. You need strings without silks at the ball end for the 3 point bridge, but you probably know this already.

Like NancyJohnson I am also,puzzling about the bow. Should it be French or German? I’ve ordered German but don’t know if that’s a good choice.

Well that might be nice. Give a chance to sell the BGs on the rack, but judging by the state of Bass Marketplace at present, which seems rather slow, that may be a bit hopeful.

I wish all manufacturers would stop using silks. Many bridges don’t suit silks and they seem pretty pointless.
