At last! Mobile phones banned at gigs.
LewisK1975 replied to darkandrew's topic in General Discussion
Same here, but see my post up a few, I still got asked not to film by another chap there. It was one song out of a 2 hour show. I don't think that's unreasonable. As I also stated I wouldn't have got my phone out if there had been ANY indication that it was banned at the show. -

Hmmm, a good 'idea'. But like the article states, it'll divide opinion. I was at a Mr.Big gig and was recording one song I really liked. It was the only time I'd got my phone out during the show. I got a 'sharp' tap on the shoulder from someone behind me and he wanted me to stop filming. I told him No. Finished the song and put my phone away. Heard the same guy having a go at others during the show who we dancing too near him too. If there had been a notice saying no filming / photographs at the Mr Big show I went to then I wouldn't have got my phone out. But as there was no indication from the venue / band / promoter that phones were not to be used for pics / recordings then I didn't do anything wrong, I'd paid for my ticket the same as the guy who didn't want me to film one song.. He had his opinion about what I was doing, and I'm perfectly entitled to disagree with him. -
Yep, as others have said, if your are able to, I'd have it in bits and be checking everything.

I'll have to come round for that long overdue cuppa Marc and give it a once over!

Yep, looks OK to me, compare it to the 60's one above it in the article, you can see it's further towards the bridge on the 70's...

When it comes to Fender, there'll always be 2 sides, those who say 'Why don't they do something different?', and when they do, those who say 'Why don't they stick to doing what they do best?'

Yup - I'd say that was the same as the one I was on about. Amazing looking Bass. Congrats! -
For me, growl is in the low mids, and bite in the high mids. YMMV!

Thanks, she really is a thing of beauty, aging very nicely indeed, actually the paint is a see-through finish too, which can't be seen at all in that pic. And yes, you're exactly right, I must have thought it was an upgrade at the time, but that ash bodied 77 in the vid a few posts up sounds sooooo good, I think i'll have her on the bench this weekend!

This has got me thinking. My '78, nicknamed 'DeeDee' for the obvious reasons: I put an SPB-3 in it many years ago along with a Badass2 and I loved it so much I've since been scared to change anything... Still have the original pups and bridge, and she doesn't go out gigging anymore. Should I return her to stock?

Oh it's quite possible that it was the non-metallic you mention. It definitely had checkerboard binding, that's what I remember about it the most! And it was blue. Now it really feels like it was 'The one that got away'! I'll console myself with the fact that I most likely would have gone off it and sold it soon after anyway (that's what happened when I bought a 4003 a few years ago). -

When I went to my local s/h dealer in the 90's I went to look at 2 Basses he had. One was a 78 Precision and one was a Blue Ric 4001. I had some gear to trade and the deal was I could straight swap what I had for the Precision, or add £50 for the Ric. Tried both and (unsurprisingly) the Precision felt more comfortable. That, plus the fact I didn't have to add the £50 led to me leaving with the Precision. The Ric was beautiful tho, Metallic blue with the checkerboard binding on the body. Dread to think what the return on that would be if I had it now..... -
It's true that having good neighbours is valuable. If you really want to try and 'maintain some sort of long term harmony', then I guess you'll have to turn it down a bit. But - It is not late at night and it's not your fault that she is working from home this week. You could just tell her to FO. What would she do if you were having some work done in your house etc?
