I only regret not playing bass in my younger days. I only switched to bass around 2015 yet i have played guitar since i was 14. I'm 44 now. I still have some guitars , just the ones that mean something to me personally. My epiphone les paul , daphne blue strat , telecaster with incredible birdseye maple neck i bought in california , and my explorer that is tuned down to C with 13-56 strings. Now it's all about bass , i have no interest in playing my old guitars anymore but i just can't part with them either. The ones i could have all been traded in. I suppose it's a long winded way of saying i regret not starting earlier in my life

Been listening to these guys for years , all very skilled musicians. The way they have composed some of their songs are highly impressive and some of them are really quite complex musically (to me anyway) Not everyones taste but here they are...

I guess i'm happy with mine these days. My new Ibanez btb805ms straight into my new Orange crush 100. It makes the sound i hear in my head if that makes any sense 🤷‍♂️

Billy Sheehan plays an attitude bass , many modifications but the same body shape as this

I bought a Wilkinson P pickup from northwest guitars, £20. Sounds great to my ears , well worth the small amount it costs. Whilst you're in there, slap some copper tape in the cavity to reduce any hiss/noise. A roll is about a fiver. Pocket friendly and great mods. Keep us updated with how things go with the bass, any problems you come across can most likely be solved by some of the incredibly knowledgeable people on here ✌️

The last lot I could not get into at all, did not like what I heard. Not what I would listen to normally but that's kind of the whole point here. Bjork I am familiar with , looking forward to a listen when I get home from work

I've never heard of a ramp that goes on top of the pickups , i thought they went between them so you have a place to anchor your thumb?

Until I started this thread I had no idea of the amount of options that are available. Its a bit of an eye opener. I think I may end up with a small collection of these. I did see the Mutron pedals (I saw Donny Benet use one and loved the sound) but nearly crapped my pants at the price. Maybe one day, but initially its gonna be more wallet friendly. BassIQ is still in front for me but all these other options give me food for thought.

Looking at and reading about, yes. I am incredibly competent at spending too many hours reading about other basses when i should be playing mine. Despite the research i still forget things and ask stupid questions partly due to a partied out short term memory. When it comes to playing, a polite person would say " bless, look at him have a go" Mark me down for the bottom of that scale please
