1. Started on classical guitar, 3 years later got an electric guitar, 4 years later started on bass.
2.
There was a band called Spoiler (Dutch, I think) who did a brilliantly ironic Stoner-ish cover of the Grease song "You're The One That I Want" a couple of years ago. I remember seeing it through a drunken haze at about three in the morning on Kerrang! TV, but I've never managed to find a copy of it. It was fantastic.
Arthur Mullard & Hilda Baker - Your the one that I want. Has to be seen to be believed!
3. unusual, but it seems to work. How does it play?
4. Luis Cardenas - Runaway Hanoi Rocks - Up around the bend Motley Crue - Smoking in the boys room Poison - Your Mama don't dance Lillian Axe - No matter what The Damned - Eloise Great White - Once bitten twice shy Def Leppard - Action
5.
I LOVE that black Pbass. With a black pickguard it's THE Roger Waters look!
and the Phil Lynott look!
6. yep, interesting. As a side note, for me the best Warwick I've played belongs to G-77. It's an older model, and the neck is similar to a jazz. I haven't found newer models with as nice a neck. Would be sorely tempted if I did
7. cheers for that. I don't need to sell, so can avoid the 'Bay. The waiting game continues
8. so planning on having a jam with the local jazz combo?
9. Ah, corporate whores! It's difficult to know who to trust with endorsements, look at Nathan East - doesn't play live or record without his NE-1, then he's espousing the virtues of the Aphex line, then he's on to the Phil Jones Bass Buddy as the best bit of kit ever. Does Tony Levin play his signature model OLP? If it's not good enough for him it's not good enough for me.
10. but don't we all want a good deal on Ebay? If it was me that bought that, I'd be made up, but if I was selling it I be gutted! What's the betting that will be on sale soon with a reserve?
11. how about a custom made Shuker 6 string?
12. yep, used them and still have a spare pack. Used them on my old Guild B-301, soap bar pup, through my PJB. In one word awesome! The clarity was amazing, it's difficult to describe sound in words, but for me they were well worth the money. The only reason I'm not using them now is that I bough 4 string packs, and now I play a 4 tuned BEAD, and a 5 and 6.
13. thanks for the replies, looks like I've got a lot of homework to do
14. Following on from my previous thread, I've bought the hard disc recorder, and am now looking for some flat response monitors. I've got a £200.00 budget. Charic has already recommended Yamaha HS50M monitors. Any other opinions advice? thanks in anticipation.
15.
Trades only? Or do you have a price in mind?
can pm if interested.
16. and back to the top.
17. someone please buy my custom Shuker 6, so I can have this!
18. Has anyone mentioned Martin Clunes? Star of Men Behaving Badly, but played bass in the quality one-off drama Hunting Venus as part of former New Romantic Band The Venus Hunters who ended up playing a special one off, on the late show with Jools.
19. Bearing in mind the Google hits this site now generates (back on par with Bassworld?) and the growing global membership, it's a shame (and suprise) we don't have bods from Fender et al popping in and contributing to threads like this. I'm not suggesting every mention of a manufacturer should warrant their time and effort, but here we have a legitimate consumer issue that is generating interest. And to add to an earlier point, IMO if a signature model bass is not good enough for the signature artist to play, why should it be good enough for me?
20. Hey Nick how's it going?
21. try putting a bit of vaseline on the wrist before you play.
22. you should write the whole thing up, and send it to BGM. They could do with a new feature - real bassists, with real gear!
23. I'm not generally a Ricky fan, but that looks sweet.
24. 3rd time lucky? bum. p.
