1.
Any chance of a piccy MacDaddy. I bought a Korean Mustang a year ago off the bay, paid £65 squids and considered it a bargain. Mines allegedly built in the eighties in the same factory that produced some fenders. How true that is I dont know, again nothing like a Fender mustang more like a precision with a different shaped headstock.

 2. I had a fretted B-301. Neck heavy and neck like a tree trunk. But sounded and played awesome. Best set up I've had on a bass, very low action no fret buzz. I like the way they look, but I think the black looks better than the brown version.
 3. Heavy Metal - love it but old school! Iron Maiden Judas Priest Saxon Twisted Sister UFO Accept Black Sabbath Ozzy Venom Manowar Annihilator WASP and Slayer, Anthax, Megadeth, and Metallica (all before 92ish!) Those were the days  First The Power Hour, then Raw Power, and finally Noisy Muthers.
 4.
Sorry, I didn't realise they were perfectly happy I thought you meant they were doing it for the money.
5. the assumption that the bass player stands at the back will be considered discriminary.
 6.
Call me pedantic, but does providing a service actually count as being gay?
If you are perfectly happy to put something in your mouth that heterosexual males would not, then I think so.
 7. Hi guys, time for another update. Jon has done a mock up of the pup cover/rest/ramp and he's gonna send pics of it along with pics of the LED's in the neck. The bendwell still needs carving and he's about ready to do it now. After a few trial runs, the clamp for the drop D has been done. We are discussing the LED's controls which I want on a rotary switch rather than a flip switch. I'm thinking pull/push for on and off, and on, flash, and pulse, for the functions. So pics will be up as soon as I get them.
 8.
Brilliant! You realise you have to name it sooner or later? I vote for Electric Lardy-land, assuming you've developed a healthy beer belly with all that Stella!
Electric Larger-land?

Maybe even some on BC.
Duff Mckagan - G n R , Velvet Wotsit. According to an interview with Steve Adler in Classic Rock Magazine, before G n R were signed, and when they were both addicts, they were rent boys who used to do things to business men for $50 a pop. So to speak.
 10.
in the middle of songs !! Went to see a local band last night , very good apart from the bass player kept playing slap riffs and then back to fingerstyle in EVERYTHING from "i shot the sheriff" to "you need a friend " ! WTF is all that about its like bass tourettes !!! I saw another well known local basist doing this six months ago and couldnt believe it then either, it has made up my mind im going 100% fretless from now on i dont want to risk sliding on the slippery slope !!
The Bitch on bass, from Rock Bitch slaps quite awesomely on a fretless.
 11. I'll be following this one
 12.
Here's the ACG 9 string which I collected today: Basic Specs: 9 strings 35" scale Swamp ash body with mahogany top and wenge accent Mahogany headstock facing with a wenge backplate Maple/wenge neck with wenge transition plate Bookmatched, acrylicised, spalted maple fingerboard Hipshot hardware. piezo in bridge ACG pickups and EQ-01 preamp Serial/Parallel switching Neck or Piezo switch Low battery indicator This is the result of many, many hours on Alan's (ACG) part and to him I extend my sincerest thanks and congratulations on producing such a fine instrument. These aren't the greatest pics, but hopefully they will give an idea of how great this ERB is!!
Does this mean you will have to change your user name?
 13.
How come its fine not to like death metal, noise punk, opera or trance (just random examples) but if you don't like jazz then its because you don't know how to hear it!?!? I am not an ignorant pop-conditioned musical monkey just because I don't like "jazz" (or to avoid generalisations, any of the jazz I happen to have heard so far). If jazz is Greek, then early industrial like Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire are [s]Latin[/s] [s]Arabic[/s] [s]Chinese[/s] Old Norse. In which case I am as high brow as you.
+1
 14. mines purple with a monkey grip. You would have noticed it had you seen it

 16.
Since playing five and six string bass, I have found myself hunching over the neck to see the finger board better.
why do you need to look at the finger board? You know where it is Use all 4 fretting fingers with 1 per fret and you're away. If you know where your fingers were, you can change postion and still know where you are. I remember seeing a band on the tellybox. The guitarist was singing, and as he changed chords he turned his head to look at his fretboard, which meant he wasn't singing into the mic. Reminded me of Norman Collier
 17. When I was younger, I hated most music shops. They were intimidating places. I'd walk in, and there would be a couple of staff sat behind a counter usually chatting with a couple of their mates drinking tea and smoking (I'm going back a few years!). They would all stare at me as I walked in and usually not say anything. I'd feel uncomfortable and just want to get the hell out of there
 18. sweet . I'm gonna email Jon for an update on mine
 19. I used the Korean Mustang again again for Saturday's gig. I went through the same bass rig as the headline bands bassist - didn't even touch his eq settings. He was using one of his +£2k Ricky's. There was not £2k difference in sound quality.
 20.
That's not a bass - that's just a body! Are you having one made? Do tell...
I have an Iceni, which was custom made for someone who believed 'the heavier the better' so everything on it was heavy. Somewhere along the line before it got to me, Mike made a new neck for it, and now I'm having a new body made.
 21. If I can get a lift - will share costs - from that London (south west) I'll be up for it .
 22.
Perrys or the Fishmongers?
really can't remember. Think it was on a junction of a main road and a side street.
 23.
Yes, I probably will have the LH (well done for using the abbreviation!) curve slightly contoured - although I'm also not too bothered about upper fret access. What bass are you picking up from him? There didn't seem to be that many complete basses in his workshop.
this one
 24. Just seen this thread, read all of it and will be following. I take it you are not too bothered about the upper fret access? Or maybe you could have the neck side curve of the LH contoured? BTW +1 on Mike. I'm picking up my Iceni from him any day now
