Its not too bad there as it goes, its when you go past Turnpike Lane that it gets interesting..
There was a pub in Turnpike Lane I used to go to. Played a good bit of rock and punk. Can't remeber what it was called, I'm going back about 15 years...
 2. At the end of one song I majestically hefted my bass in air in true rock God style, only to be covered in dust and crap from the tiles in the ceiling that I had put my bass through
 3. In terms of mass produced gear, what's the difference between a factory in Korea and the USA? Obviously lower wages in Korea, but if the machinery used is the same, and skills and training of the employees is the same, is the difference just a stamp on the headstock? Is this the case?
 4. My last few basses have all been quality mid range USA made (Carvin, Fender J, Musicman Sub, Guild B-301) but for my last gig I used a cheap Asian Mustang bass - not to be confused with the Fender Mustang. Anyway no-one commented on the change of sound, loss of tone, etc or even noticed there was a cheaper bass. There's no doubt the quality of budget basses has increased severely since I were a lad (to be said in wistful Yorkshire accent) and the budget bass feature in BGM got me thinking, are there any budget basses (for the sake of argument no more than £200.00 as per the BGM piece) that can do a pro job? By pro job I mean sounds good enough to do a decent job at a gig for the player, with sufficient build quality to negate any interference issues, plays well with a decent set up, and to an average member of the audience would be no different sound wise to a bass 2 or 3 times it's value. I realise this may be entirely subjective, but we may find some common ground? Waddaya reckon?
 5. Panda recently bought my Korg AX3000B. He saved me a journey by coming to me, and was a delight to deal with. I would not hesitate to deal with him again
 6.
I assume you are referring to mr thomas? I dont think hes camp. (Does anyone know if he is on the other bus?) He just seems nervous in front of the camera and a bit quiet and sensitive. Definately a case of an unfunky person being able to play extremely funky bass lines. I am going to watch some more of them on youtube tonight.
The guitarist in my band is a former partner of Henry's - they are still in touch. My guitarist is female BTW I can assure you that Henry is not on the other bus Not that there's anything wrong.. etc..
 7. Change of mind due to big car bill. SOLD
 8. I can be taken off the list too, had it sometime last year - or was it the year before? ta.
 9.
Yeah, i've never seen a bad review in there.... but then again, i've never really seen them review anything that i would class as "crap", they tend to give you a good idea of what gives you how much bang for your buck though, though it would have been nice for them to give the 25 beginner basses in the last issue or the issue before or whatever a rating, because some of that stuff i wouldn't have touched, having already owned some of them.
yeah, I'd be interested in a review of all the beginners stuff.
 10.
Would you be interested in selling?
no thanks, I'm gonna hold out for a trade.
 11.
Always be reluctant to use a signature mode. Doesn't feel like ur own bass
Guitar players don't seem to have a problem playing Les Paul's' BTW Stevie hasn't always been a Fender P boy, what's the bass he's playing in the Run to the hills, and Trooper video's? Looks like an Ibanez to me?
 12.
This *is* month 13 for me lol lol ;o)
15 for me
Also Jon is an absolutely top bloke and totally helpful and isn't afraid to take on a challenge.
otherwise he would not be building mine! LOL!
Hi folks, Over the years I have seen members come and go, millions of basses change hands and a few fads wax and wane. I wanted to see who, during this seemingly never ending process of gear buying/selling, has been fortunate enough to have found 'the one'. I don't mean your favourite bass at the moment, or the one you have had the longest, but the bass you will ALWAYS keep and use the most, the one that is 'your' sound. So have you got the bass for you? I know of a few people who have, so post pics and maybe a lil story or a bit of info about the bass that makes it special. It might cost a tenner, ten grand or anything in between... Cheers ped
Funny you should ask. I'm imminently taking possession of my (active) custom Iceni, and hopefully some time in the year I'll be taking home my (passive) custom Shuker. Once I have these 2, I can't imagine buying anything else - not least coz I won't be able to afford to! I'm not saying GAS will never strike, and I hope that's not the case. I'll always enjoy looking and playing new/old/vintage/custom/etc basses. Being a bass player is not what I do, it's what I am. The point is these 2 basses reflect not only my bass playing life, but my life experience to get to the point of owning them. There will be a thread, but these are the 2 I will never be parted from
 14.
Problem with Nathan East, or his choice of kit?

I wonder if Prince Harry has a friendly nickname for Nathan East. I love Nathan East's playing and his signature bass is awesome. I'm not too big a fan of the bridge pieces though. I just wish he had a signature 6 like the one he actually uses. Still reckon white basses are the ultimate stage basses. Will get another one one day. His kit - if memory serves me right, is currently Avalon, and Aggie. Not too shabby if you ask me. His parametric EQ is pretty useful piece of kit for the price. Alot better than some of the BS put out by these big name companies. Plus he co-wrote Easy Lover. Dont know about anybody else... but I'm a fan!
It's just the corporate-whoreness about it all. I mean re. the NE-1 which the blurb said 'he never plays or records without it', but then he's endorsing Aphex pedals, then he's straight onto endorsing the PJB Bassbuddy. Does he believe in and use all this gear? TBF if any bass (and/or bass related) companies wanted to pay me for using their products I'd rip their arms off.
 15. Survival Studios in Action. In fact there's a whole bunch of places in Acton.

 17. so this probably means price cutting on the current stock of Rock Basses?
 18.
hereI saw that.... it was an old Westone....
Ahh! nice one What's going on with the one in the Metro though? Like I said, with a differing HB or maybe a ramp?
I wasn't very impressed by the photography though - it looked rather obviously posed by a non-musician in a photographers studio. This negated the "rock'n'roll action shot" feel they were going for. Am I picky or what?
nah I agree. The way model didn't have their hands on the bass said non-bassist. If you know what I mean.
 19.
In true Dusty Bin style I would let you all now after the event.
is it Ted Rogers?
 20. In yesterdays Metro (freebie 'news'paper given out in that London) there were some pics from the Sony Photo Exhibition. One of them was a bassist, but I've not seen the bass before. From the bridge unit it looked to be headless and seemed to have 2 different style HB's next to each other. Did anyone else see it?
