1. when I had a sub I used it in an old school heavy metal band. It did the job fine. The only problem for me was the lack of contouring on the body so it was a bit uncomfortable as it used to dig in to my arm.
 2. was in the Bass Cellar on Friday. There semed to be a lot more space and the staff appeared to all be friendly and helpful. Maybe things are changing at last.
 3. i've changed the song, again it was using the resources available - so male vocalist this time. This is the last one I'm putting up so I'll leave you all alone soon @ alim, the guitar solo is just as grating
 4. Nikki Sixx. Not the best bassist in the world, probably not the best bassist in Motley Crue. But he runs around, throws shapes and poses, and knows how to entertain. That's why he made me want to play bass.
 5. Musicians Union membership which comes with £2,000.00 worth of free insurance. This amount can be increased for a reasonable rate.
 6. will be sending it to Mickeyboro as soon as I receive his details.
 7. i'm popping out in a minute and will post it to Daz.
 8. i think The Tyre Kickers would be a good band name.
 9. First Bass - Weststone Thunder 1A - but first bass owned Ibanez Blazer Bass 'Go To' Bass - Custon Iceni Zoot 'Your' Bass - Custom Shuker
 10.
Great photos, Nige.
+1 those DR's look amazing. No gloves though?
 11.
Me at the moment. Apologies for size/quality.
I haven't got my specs on, and through the blur for a second, I read that you were apologising for the sexuality
 12.
It says Powerpop on your Myspace. So someone has already done it for you.
that was just because I had to choose a genre to set up the page. And as Mr Foxen said 'it's not doom'. There seems to be agreement on the 80's influence. I think that's fair, so long as I manage to be 80's influenced rather than stuck in the 80's?
 13.
I'd go with the Eurythmics type of thing. Good strong beat. Bit of distortion with background of keyboard. Pop Rock? Liked it anyway!
cheers. Pop rock could do.
 14.
I went for 'Disco' at first, but then settled for 'whatever sub-genre you'd pigeonhole Blondie & The Eurythmics in'. This Genre Generator turfed up 'Global Techno-Funk' which is vaguely appropriate, whereas this one came up with 'modern world miami power trance'... which isn't. Sorry. Not much help. As you were. Carry on.
i quite like 'poco-poco transgender neo crust pop'
 15. If you had to describe the style of this song what would you say? Please pigeon hole it and give it a label http://www.myspace.com/561894423 It's a demo using the resources available (so in future it doesn't have to be a female vocalist) but you should get the idea. ta.
 16.
Thanks for your comments. If you want to see some pics from that night, and of the bass, here they are, on my blog: http://luthiery.co.uk/2011/02/01/michael-h...-starship-bass/ Hope I haven't broken any rules of self-promotion on here. Apologies if I have, and I'll delete this post and PM if so. Let me know. The Jazz/MM pickups combo is because Michael said "Imagine if I could have a bass that sounded like a jazz bass, but if you flick a switch, it's a MM". Fortunately, Delano make the hybrid, which does that very thing, and looks cool. Jim
that would look pant-wettingly awesome with some orange DR Neons
 17.
Just downsize
already there mate I was forced in to it, when I switched cars from a hatchback to a saloon. The speakers in each cab are wrapped, so the size of each is not much bigger than a single 10 or 12 and they fit nicely in the boot.
 18.
just curious, do you think these will be the bog standard ones that are in the shops or pimped up Vintage axes?
any bass will benefit from a proper set up, and I'm guessing these guys have their own techs - at least on tours? So IMO if they are the bog standard ones they probably play and sound that little bit better.
 19.
This is probably the most interesting feature rich instrument I've seen in a while, well done to you.
yet deceptive in it's simplicity - only 1 pup and just a volume control (the other pot is for the LED's).
Macdaddy, That bass is superb!!!
thanks *blush*
 20. I have 2 straplocks on the bottom of my straps. One keeps the bass at the same position I play when sitting down. The other lets the bass go low for throwing shapes and posing.
 21.
Yeah I know about the EB1,but I seem to remember an old interview where he says that Fenders were too expensive, and that was why he went for the Hofner, because he wouldn't buy it on tick.
I remember reading the same but about the Gibson IIRC he liked the Gibby because there were no left hand basses available and the EB1 wouldn't look too bad played left handed. Sir Paul, if you are out there and are one of the 'famous bass players on BC' can you please set us straight?
 22.
Indeed and is that a scalloped fingerboard for the D & G strings in the highest 7 frets ?
Billy Sheehan has his top 5 scalloped but as I've got a 2 octave neck I thought I'd best have a couple more
Does the handle looking cut out serve a purpose? Edit or it it an aesthetic thing? I always wondered that about the gem guitar too
no purpose other than I can throw it about a bit and pose I do like the aesthetic though.
 23.
That is VERY interesting. I've never been a fan of headless basses, but that really uses the whole headless concept to the nth degree. It's definitely feature rich.
an extra 2 frets for the E string and a bendwell for the other strings
 24.
Didn't McCartney get the Hofner because it was something like £40 compared to a Fender which was over £100??
yep, but not the Fender, it was the original Gibson EB1 which was violin shaped, so he went for the cheaper copy.
 25.
That's really cool. Is the pickup built into the ramp or is it piezo's?
it's underneath the thumbchum (all in one pup cover/thumbrest/ramp).
